Pre-op liquid diet - Shakes to lose weight?
Kimmy1813 replied to Karmen081020's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I would have to agree with SerendipityHappens on the Ensure....my best friends's doctor told her to drink that a couple times a day to GAIN weight. I have no idea why your nutritionist would recommend that for your weight loss! For my shakes, my NUT told me to make sure there is, per serving, about 20-25 (or more) grams of protein, less than 3 grams of fat and less than 5 grams of carbs. I actually buy a 2 pound tub of powder from Target; it's their store brand, and it meets all of those requirements. -
This will probably make you giggle too..

On a side note, that was actually here in Oklahoma....and they have now put her in a commercial for something....maybe a lawyer's office or something, can't remember what it's for. But every time I see her video, I can not stop laughing and I have to replay it multiple times usually -

Hahahahaha, AWESOME!!!! -
Lucky you, KenneKat...no sleep test. I hated that thing. I don't sleep well to begin with, but I slept worse than usual during that thing...of course I don't know how they expect anyone to sleep well during it, with all the wires hooked up to you

I think they just want to make sure the lungs are clear.

Amazing!! You look so much younger now! -
I have finished all my pre-op testing, except for the endoscopy and they are thinking a July surgery. They can't submit for insurance approval until after my July 2nd appointment, so fingers crossed until then

Just wondering how everyone is coming along with their sleeve....

I'm sorry I can't answer your question. Hopefully, someone else can

I won't know my exact date either until after my July 2nd appointment. I am so ready to get this done! -
I've never been banded either, but I've had IBS for the past couple of years. I'm hoping the sleeve will help my symptoms as well. I'm looking at a July surgery date, so it's still a little ways out for me
-
I just might have to do that!

Boooo, this Oklahoma gal is feeling left out

Hi! I am anticipating a July surgery as well. I am currently doing the 6 month pre op diet required by my insurance. I have completed most of my testing. Had sleep study on the 29th but haven't heard anything from the dr yet. During the study, the tech woke me up and hooked me up to the cpap because I had stopped breathing several times, so that doesn't bode well. I'll be meeting with the surgeon this week. I think the only other thing I have to do is the endoscopy. Then it's just waiting to finish my 6 months and get insurance approval. -
Newbie Working Mom looking for a Buddy/Mentor - location not important

Hi! I am anticipating a July surgery date as well. I also work full-time, but only have one child....he's a Senior, so will be graduating and starting college in the fall. However, I would love to buddy up, if you'd like too:) -
Hi, aonthehill!! I'm still in my 6 month diet as well. They are thinking a July surgery for me. How far are you into yours? Where are you going to be having surgery?
-
I'm preop and I've read on here where several people have had this issue, which was worrying me, because I don't want to be fainting after getting sleeved. I asked my friend who is about 1 1/2 yrs post op and he said he only gets lightheaded when he's a little dehydrated...as soon as he ups his water intake, he's fine.

Thanks, guys Dreamingofhealth, you are right....a good man is not going to care about the extra skin. If he does care, it's time to move on. CowgirlJane, you look wonderful...most definitely worth the extra skin No matter how much extra skin I end up with, I will be healthier and feel so much better every day and that's the most important thing!

I have a question, not necessarily vajay jay related, but plastics in general I am lucky enough that my insurance will cover my sleeve (hoping for July surgery date) and I'm not sure that I will ever be able to afford plastics. I already worry about the loose skin....I know that this is going to bother me when it happens. I worry that I will still feel as bad about my body as I do now. When you're big, if you're going to get naked in front of someone, they pretty much know what to expect. However, if you're smaller and look good in clothes, they aren't expecting to see a bunch of loose skin when you disrobe. My DH passed away in 2007 and I have not been in a real relationship since then, but I hope to be again one day. If you were unable to have plastics, would you still be okay with yourself?
