This has been a great 6 weeks so far. Today it really hit home how much weight I have lost. I needed to fill out my weight on a form today and I was so use to writing 300 lbs that I almost put that down but then I realized I am 268!! What a beautiful number. Smiling from ear to ear :-)

When we took our vows, we committed to be there for each other for richer or poorer... To be there for better or worse.... I know that this must be very trying for you and we don't know what you have been thru. Do you still love him? Maybe things will be brighter tomorrow. Marriage takes work! My husband can definitely test me but I love him dearly and don't know what I would do without him. Best of luck to you as you work to get thru this bump on the road of life!

I am Kathy. I am 46 years old and live just outside of Boston. I was layed off in September after 23 years with an electronics distributor. It was hard to say goodbye to something I have known half my life but I moved on. I am now taking everything in stride. I live with my fiance and we enjoy riding our motorcycles more than anything. Every fall we ride them down to our home in Florida and then in the spring we ride them back. Last year was the full length of the blue ridge parkway. Amazing! Going again this year just because there is so much to see on the ridge. After we retire we are planning to ride to all four corners of the US.
We have a puggle name Mugzee.. She truly is a wonderful part of my life and she fills my heart and makes me smile every day.
I was sleeved on 3/6/2013. I did it to save my life. Looking forward to living healthier and longer!

I am so embarrassed to admit this but I have not been able to ride in my husband's car because I couldn't fit in the seatbelt. He has a 94 Toyota Celica and it is very sporty and he loves it. Tonight we had to drop my CRV off at the mechanic and I had to ride home in his. Not only could I buckle the seatbelt but I had a ton of extra space in the belt!!!!

I am so excited! I had my first post op appt Thursday and they took my drain out which was great as I was so sick of that thing. My excitement is from the fact that I have lost 17lbs. I was sleeved on the 27th and I sometimes wonder what I am doing wrong because I am not having any issues. I can drink almost normally with no pain. It isn't until I eat that I realize that my intake has cut down dramatically. I am just scared that if it is too easy I will slip back into old habits. I keep reminding myself that I lost about 30 lbs pre op by the changes I had already made I will not slip back because I know better. I guess I am scared of old patterns.

I agree, getting some daycare for a couple of hours 2-3 times a week would be the way to do it. Even if its only once a week. You need time for you. One of the reasons many of us got fat was that we concentrated on everyone else but ourselves so its time girl to step up and assert yourself. You have another partner in this life and he needs to support your efforts. Even if he works nites and sleep days he still can manuver some time for you to do your thing for an hour or two a couple times of week. Talk heart to heart and let him know your concerns and needs as well as listen to his. I know I can't be all things to all people and now must take a little time for me otherwise the resentment piles on and I go to food.... that is no longer an option so facing the issue may be a challenge but it will make you a better person.

As forum administrator, I have moved this thread to the lounge as it is more appropriate there.
As a fellow member, I am begging to be a part of this wonderful group as well! People come here for support, to vent, to learn they aren't the only one experiencing something and to be a part of a community. There is a big difference between being supportive and offering advice, and what some refer to as "tough love" because what works for them should work for everyone else. We all have different philosophies, as long we are happy and getting healthier, that is what really counts.

I love this thread! Sometimes, people aren't looking for a "professional opinion", a scolding, or advice. Sometimes, people just need a pat on the back, a kind word of encouragement, and a "you can do this"! A soft answer turneth away wrath! And yes, we all have phenomenal inner strength to have embarked on this life long journey!!! Winners, every one of us!!!

Question...No pain with drinking (not sipping), no discomfort at all ever, getting liquids, puddings and cream Soups down easily. Other than no appetite, and easily feeling full, I would wonder if the doc did anything. Am I just blessed or are there others.with similar experience? Sleeved 2/26/13 down 16 lbs in 2 weeks.

Here's my story. My name is Katie I am an Accountant from Massachusetts. I have been married for almost 16 years. I have two wonderful girls. One is 14 the other is almost 12. I am working on my MBA while working full time at a residental treatment center for delinquent children and mentally disabled children and adults. I am having my surgery on Wednesday and getting extremely nervous. When I am nervous I educate myself to the extreme and that is how I happened upon this place. After spending most of the afternoon reading I feel like I will fit in wonderfully here. I am excited to become a skinnier me

askinnierme reacted to clk in Be careful using IUD only post VSG!
    Ladies -
I'm seeing that a huge percentage of our pregnant ladies are ones that were using the IUD as their primary form of birth control. But what I haven't seen is someone taking the time to say, "Hey, this is a possible issue and be aware of it BEFORE surgery."
The IUD can shift and/or fall out with a drastic change in weight. I wish more surgeons were discussing this possibility with their patients, because I'm getting the feeling that they aren't always doing so and that many women are unaware that this can happen.
Please be sure to address your choice of the IUD with your doctor so that you can decide if it's the right choice for you while you're in the initial loss phase.
I've seen a large number of surprise pregnancies lately and almost every one of them was an IUD user. We all love babies, but it's nice to be more in control of the process and not be surprised with a pregnancy while eating a drastically reduced diet and learning your sleeve. And the early months are emotional enough without complicating matters.
So, just my official suggestion that even if your surgeon or PCP does not bring this up (and particularly if you're self-pay and won't be seeing a regular team of doctors) that you bring it up yourself if you're currently using this type of birth control and not trying to get pregnant.

Almost three years out and I still read everything I can on our surgery! My nurse said I was a bit 'rigid' and 'obsessive' - really???!!! LoL It's like a game for me, I've loved this journey from the time I made up my mind to have surgery - it was about 2 AM one night in December 2009 - and I still enjoy it. I love the support group meetings (we had a new informal one today) - I love weighing every morning since a couple of months before surgery, I love logging my food and weighing and measuring it. It may be weird, but it's my new life. Educating yourself is great, this is a great place, and real live support groups are WONDERFUL. Good luck, a year from now, you won't believe how different your life will be!!!
