  1. Thanks uccmart. It really is the beginning of the rest of my life. Healthier than ever. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  2. TOMORROW!!! I am so excited! I've been jumping through hoops for insurance since November 27, 2012. Now the day is finally here! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  3. New problem this afternoon. Last day of two week pre-op diet. Didn't really have any problems the whole time. I am lucky though. Not all liquids, just lean protein, veggies, no grains, pasta, or starches, three 5 oz. Isopure a day. Only now I would give up a limb for Lays Classic Potato Chips. Not just a few, the entire family size bag. I can't think about anything else. I had a six month prep to do for insurance. It's been longer than that since I've had any chips. Why is that all I want now? Luckily we don't have any!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  4. Tomorrow is my big day. Not nervous or scared, just so ready. Have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am with surgery at 7:15 am. All packed and ready to go! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  5. I order a shrimp cocktail at Red Lobster and ask them to bring it with everyone else's meal. Then I eat a couple bites of my husband's veggies. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  6. Wow! That's a huge accomplishment. You should be so proud of yourself. You look great! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  7. I am a BMI of 40. On my chart it says morbidly obese. I have about 90 lbs. to lose. I did lose 37 lbs. on my six month supervised for insurance. That leaves me with the 90. As I was going through the various tests, they kept saying I was small. If you are listed as morbidly obese, you are definitely NOT small. I am 5'2" and weigh 220. Surgery is Monday, July 22. I can't wait! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  8. Surgery next Monday. Had an appt. with the pharmacist at the surgery center this week. I'll have morphine in the hospital and Lortab elixir at home. As for my other meds (3 kinds for hb), I will crush them and mix them with my liquids. Everything I take can be crushed. Be sure to check with your doctor. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  9. The 22nd is so close now. After six months of hoop jumping, it's finally going to happen!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  10. I'm 68 and on Medicare. After my co-pay, they cover all of it. I have Humana in Iowa. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  11. I like to mix applesauce in the oatmeal. Makes it creamier and a little tastier. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  12. What you all said. LOL Sent from my iPhone using VST
  13. Me too, one week! We are going to do so well. Luck to you all. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  14. Thanks so much, Cheryl. Sounds like you are doing well. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  15. I'm one week away from the beginning of my new healthier life. Six months ago it seemed so far away! Now I can't believe how close July 22nd is. I'm not nervous at all, but so excited! It's really going to happen!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  16. My instructions say no nail polish, but its okay to leave acrylics on. My nurse said clear polish is okay. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  17. Thanks Beachlover and Corvettegirl, not having a problem now. I should have no complaints because I can have lean meat and veggies tonight. I've never been much of a bread or potato eater, but knowing I can't have them is messing with my brain. I do like Premier shakes. They taste good, are ready to drink, and filling. I love the support from this group. And yes, I've got this! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  18. I'm on day six. Haven't had a problem all week, but this morning I would have killed for a slice of toast. My husband was eating toast while I was drinking my shake and I found myself feeling angry with him for enjoying it. Then, thank heaven, the humor of it hit me. I want this so much and I'm getting all bent out of shape over toast??? LOL. I'm going to hang in there because I CAN do this! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  19. My dietician explained the no caffeine right before and right after surgery is because it is a diuretic and you are trying to stay hydrated. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  20. A friend said that to me and I told her what my surgeon told me. You may experience some weight gain while trying to figure out your maintenance. Whether you do and how much is entirely in your control. I told her that I am in control and she shouldn't bother worrying about it. You go Kathy. We all know you are strong! 21. I have VERY thin hair, and its white too. I started taking 5000 mcg of Biotin twice a day about three months ago. I also bought a decent looking wig just in case. My surgery is July 22. Just trying to prepare ahead. Everyone, including my surgeon assure that hair loss is only temporary. The benefits of the surgery so out way the vanity of my hair. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  22. Happy Birthday, Susie. What a great present! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  23. I started my two week pre-op today. Not liquids, high protein, no carbs. Three high protein meals and three clear liquid protein drinks a day. Yes, I know how lucky I am. I know I can do this!!! Had an appointment with the physical therapist and she said she's never had a patient my age in such good shape. Woohoo! I just turned 68! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  24. What a great idea!!! Going shopping today and its on the list. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  25. Thanks so much for sharing, Terry. I am scheduled for July 22. Can't wait to begin my journey. Sent from my iPhone using VST
