So I was sleeved on June 24th
and I am very happy with where I am at and the progress
am now 102 lbs from my highest weight which was 2 weeks before surgery and now 85 lbs since surgery
Today I went to the gym and did 4 miles in 52 minutes on the treadmill
feel more energy and so much better
I do travel a lot so getting all my Protein in on the road is at times a challenge, but I am still learning and doing better
and as I said all along, I was not going to go crazy on this strict food plan - i wanted to be realistic and practical, smart and yet not deny those things that i like but thanks to the tool really control my portions.
so, I do eat a halloween size pack of Peanut M&Ms every now and then - so yes all 6-7 of them little candies - the old days it would been a whole pack
I have had a bratwurst (no bun) at a football game
I have had pizza ( mostly just the toppings and very little of the crust and its a thin crust) - if i have 2 slices of toppings that is a lot - compared to used to eating a WHOLE pie
I do have the Skinny Cow 100 cal fudgesicle most nights when at home
sometimes for Breakfast I have 2 slices of Cracker Barrel Cheeses (individually packaged so very nice) with a 100 cal Pack of Goldfish (nut said crackers were good to help with nausue on occasion from chewable Multi-Vitamens
and my biggest bad thing - I will drink diet soda - i get the small can 7 1/2 oz and drink slowly - used to drink 6-10 full 12 oz cans a day
I do drink through a straw in public and yes at a restaurant i get soda and small sips when eating, but i have never emptied a glass
So i am not perfect, but I am doing well and making progress, i could see how i could go backwards, but the portion controls is huge and I am eating so so so much better and working out so so so much more
Used to wear a size 50-52 w pants and now i am doing 44-46 shirts were a 5XL and now 3Xls are almost to big Goodwill got 4 huge bags of clothes!!

Had my sleeve done on 6/24. Got back today from a 10 day road trip -can be challenging to eat well when traveling, but since surgery I am now down 54 lbs and 72 since the pre-surgery diet. Still have a ways to go but I see the progress. I have avoided all sweets except for the 50 cal Skinny Cow fudgicle when home, have eaten part of a Bratwurst with a spoonful of macaroni salad and while tailgating the last 2 weeks I had very small bites of my favorite sausage (Bahama Mama from Schmidt's in Columbus Ohio). And this past week, had 2-3 small strips of pizza -not full slices! Normally I would have ate a whole large pie! And would eat 2 of those sausages before each game. So I know many will want to jump on me for some of the food choices.....but I don't care. I did the surgery to help give me a tool to help me with my portion controls. I do not eat a lot of the bad stuff I used to, but on occasion I may indulge in a favorite but now with this great new tool, I enjoy some but eat much much less than I ever did.
With the weight I am down, I can climb the bleachers easier -I sit in Row 37 of Ohio Stadium - as I fly from Texas back to Ohio State for every home game ( missed only 2 home games since 93). And I get in much better workouts at the gym, today on treadmill did 3 1/3 miles in 46 minutes with over 1500 linear feet. So I feel so much stronger and better
I still have work but encouraged with the first 11 weeks!

I did a monthly B12 shot. Seems to help me. I do not feel fatigued.......any more than normal........working out helps. Did 3 miles in 54 minutes today with lots of elevation changes on treadmill.

i was sleeved on 6/24 trying to be more creative in what i eat as it is getting a bit boring but I won't do anything i am not supposed to yet. I had to fly today and flight connecting times were tight, so stopped at McDonalds next to my gate, got a cheeseburger - only ate the meat and cheese with some mustard and the onions.
Thanks for Premier Protein - but hard to take when i fly
But what about chicken, ,, I have heard so many say they struggle with chicken - why is that? is there a best way to have it?

I was sleeved June 24 doing 65-70 grams Protein daily, not sure I am hitting 64 oz of liquid but trying.....lactose into lance was worse week one, but can do Premier Protein now.
Been in stall for last week and 1/2 but clearly see inches coming off...I know it's a matter of time more weight will fall off.

Tomorrow marks 2 weeks, i did go to work this past Tues and Wed for partial days, was good to be in the office for awhile and then enjoy the longer weekend. Did have a social dinner to go to on Friday, so I just had onion Soup and just drank the broth and had a very small amount of cheese. Now doing some pureed foods. Getting liquids in but not all Protein yet, but now that i can do some foods that helps, in fact did some poached eggs today, and do a small JIf Peanut Butter cup with SF pudding - doing mashed potatoes with very finely chopped turkey cold meat slices with some gravy. Tomorrow will do some chili pureed. Only issue is that some things go in ok, and then come out quicker and faster and wetter (sorry) than I would like. i guess that is my stomach adjusting to the switch from just liquids to foods and it just trying to be somewhat normal again
I drank diet sodas like crazy (at least 5-6 cans a day) pre-surgery now mainly do some milk, Water and reduced sugar grape juice - i don't crave my soda but do miss it, and maybe one day I will try a small amount again, but not in any rush
I am lactose intolerant - which seemed to be intensified after the surgery - which really impacts the Protein drinks and shakes, so I am hopeful that will get better over time
The best part of course is that i am now down a total of 38 lbs - 18 before surgery and 20 since - so that is working , now i just have to stay focused on the drink and the right foods etc

Surgery was Monday at 8 am. Only took 1hr 20 min. dr said it went fast as all was good. Took pain Med only till Tuesday at 5 am. They took drain out and then was released Tuesday and home by 6 pm. Slept well most of night on both sides...I do not sleep well on my back......up most of today, gas is around but walking helps......not overly thirsty so hard to get all liquids in....so far did 1/2 bottle of Water, 1/2 sugar free Popsicle, a few bites of Jello and lots of ice chips. Not in pain but certainly tender. Everyday I hope keeps getting better. But so far it's been expected.

The best part of course is that i am now down a total of 38 lbs - 18 before surgery and 20 since - so that is working , now i just have to stay focused on the drink and the right foods etc

Only issue is that some things go in ok, and then come out quicker and faster and wetter (sorry) than I would like. i guess that is my stomach adjusting to the switch from just liquids to foods and it just trying to be somewhat normal again

txbucki got a reaction from MIJourney in 4 days post op liquid diet sucks..any ideas from anyone!
well tomorrow morning it will be one week since sleeved. I am doing ok, have gone out seen 2 movies, grocery shopped - don't have a full days energy but its growing. I know i am not at 64 oz of liquid yet, but getting there. I start each day with a 5.5 oz can of V8, then 4-5 oz of HEB Mootopia Milk (lactose free/protein enhanced). then I have some low sugar grape juice - will have some Water - though Water seems harsher. I will have some SF Jello and One SF Popsicle - then for dinner about 5 oz of a cream Soup (last night added 2 partial spoons of KFC gravy). then froze some of the choc. mootopia for a freezer snack - after todays movie I drank some Muscle Milk - banana Cream - it is at least lactose free and tastes ok, tried almond milk as well.
I see many drs' say week 2 is pureed , but my dr still says clear liquid - so i will stick to that for awhile.
So the only things i have to work through are getting more liquids in, and more Proteins - am confident it will happen.
I seem to burp/belch a bit less today, but wish i was not doing that at all
No problems with BM (each day so far suprisingly)
Down 30 lbs since i started and 16 lbs since surgery
