  1. I received my band on Tuesday (09/04/07). I not quite sure how I feel right now other than sore. I am so glad it is done and I am sure the pain will go away in time. As for now, I am on the wonderful liquid diet too.
  2. Flipper, My doctor puts all of his patients on a two week liquid diet. We have to take Opi-Fast every three hours five times a day so we get all of our vitamins. We were also allowed to have water, juice (with no pulp), crystal light, sugar free gum, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, and various types of soup broths (chicken, beef and vegetable). After surgery we have to do a two week clear liquid diet, which is still all of the items above minus the Opi-Fast. After those two weeks, we go on another liquid diet but I am not sure how long this one last until we are put on the mush/puree phase. I will admit the liquid diets are not easy because you seem to have more time to think about all the things you can‘t have again or would like to be eating at that moment. It is all in how much you want the lap-band. Plus, after the first couple of days you start to get used to it. If food is a big trigger for you, avoid TV commercials and people eating. I spent a lot of time on the computer doing research and playing games to help make the time pass. I really helps looking at the before and after pictures to give you more encouragement that this is worth it. (http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/before-after-pictures-pix-only-4642/) I hope this is able to help you. I wish you the best on the liquid diet.
  3. I just want to thank all of you who sent me well wishes. It does help. I not quite sure how I feel right now other than sore. I am so glad it is done and I am sure the pain will go away in time. OMG…the gas, good lord. I only slept 2 hours yesterday because of the pressure in my back. I think I spent more time walking around the house trying to relieve the gas then anything else. The walking has helped out tons, except now my calves are killing me from dehydration and walking so much. I was also surprised by my weigh-in yesterday. I am down to 287 from 308 (304 according to my doctor, but that is because he doesn’t know I gained 4 lbs before I went on the liquid diet), which means I lost 21 lbs. I am sure I will gain some of it back when I get to the mush/puree phase, but I am cool with that because I know it will come back off in time. BTW...I can't wait to see your pics Juli. I bet you look awesome!
  4. Well tomorrow is my big day and I am really not sure how I feel. Keep your fingers crossed everything goes okay.
  5. Wow, congratulations on the weight loss. It must be fun going shopping again and buy things you couldn't before. As for the 15 years, ya'll are awesome. Maybe you be together forever.
  6. Hey Flipper, you can do it! I have been on liquids for a week and lost 9 lbs. I know I am younger, but my mom who is 55 y/o lost 11 in one week on just liquids. Don't give up hope, you will be surprised what can happen.
  7. AWESOME CHRIS...it looks like there will be several of us having them done in September. Stevee...I am so glad to hear things are going good for you. You will have that surgery done and over with before you know it missy!
  8. BTW...I thought this two week liquid diet was gonna kill me, but it has already been one week and I feel great. I have even lost 9 lbs so far. I hope this tread continues, at least for a little while.
  9. Yes, plus I hope to get my blog up and running soon. CHRIS- Congratulations...hope they tell you something about you wife soon.
  10. Congratulations Brendakay, that is great!
  11. Edd Tampa, Florida To be banded on 09/04/07 Hey Flipper and Kat...good luck with your surgeries. Mine is on the 4th. I am looking forward to it.
  12. Trisha - My first day was actually easier then I thought possible. The second day is going well too. I am a very determined person and I am sure by the time I go in for surgery I will have lost several pounds. I am glad I am on the liquid diet because it will help prepare me (a little) for what is to come. Of course I say this now, but after a week of this, I might have a different mindset. Stevee - Thanks for the update. It seems you really have to stay on some doctors or they will just take their sweet time. Please keep us posted on how things progress. Best wishes! Chris61 - Congratulations!! I hope you get good news about your wife's approval soon.
  13. Wow, that is going to be one long drive, but it will be worth it. Dr. Grossbard is really good.
  14. Thanks Sharon! I am really looking forward to it!
  15. Will do, also keep us posted on your progress.
  16. Hello Everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Edd and I live in Tampa, Florida. I will be having my surgery done by Dr. Grossbard on September 4th at the JourneyLite center in Tampa. I am really nervous, but looking forward to the future.

  18. Best wishes and I pray they will pay for it for you!
  19. What is normal? I don't think I have meet anyone with a normal life yet, but I am sure they are out there.
  20. Kity you sound like me. I am 31 and work is my life. I am really curious to see how things go when I am off for two weeks. It should be very interesting. As for the surgery, I think I am getting a bit nervous. Starting Monday I go on my two week liquid diet. I keep telling myself it won't be hard and try not to think about it. I am sure I will survive and I think this will be the best thing that could happen to me.
  21. Eddie I actually live in Temple Terrace, which is in north Tampa. I would say I am about 2 hours from Crystal River. It takes me about an hour to visit my family in Hernando County and about an hour to get to Homosassa from there, which is close to Crystal River. I have a friend who lives in Floral City and loves it. It is in Citrus County too. Have you checked that area out? I can understand what you mean by “Suburia Hell” since I am originally a country boy. I actually like the city, but being gay in Hillsborough County is just not all that great. They even had a report on the news the other night talking about a report I think that was done by Forbes stating how Tampa was listed as one of the worse cities to live in if you are single. I would have to agree, which is why I am thinking about moving north in a few years. BTW...congratulations on the “30's”!! I think you are doing awesome and I hope I can follow in your footsteps. Juli Thanks for sharing the picture. Ya'll do look great!! Stevee I am really sorry to hear about your situation. It really sucks!! Have you thought about trying what Trisha said and getting a small loan or putting it on a credit card. The payments would probably be very small. Either way, never give up hope. Where there is a will, there is usually a way. Best wishes!
  22. Congratulations Tricia...our surgeries will only be a few days apart. I met with my doctor on Wednesday and everything went great. I am scheduled to have the surgery on September 4th!! I am excited and nervous all at the same time...which is kinda weird, but in a good way. Hmm...I think I need more power tools, I only have a drill. Maybe, not cuz I would probably lose a digit. Don't ya just love Ptown! I went there with a group of friends and it is an awesome place to visit, especially if you have a partner. Well, I gotta run, but I wanted to check in. I wish you all well.
  23. Those are some really loud crickets!! I can hear them all the way down to Florida. Just dropping in to say "hi" to everyone! I didn't realize this thread was here. I have mostly been reading another one (http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f15/gay-lesbian-bisexual-transgendered-bandsters-34737/). I will add this one to my list of subscribe threads.
