About Me

  • Gender
    Female
  1. I have Lupus, and actually had a revision from Lap-Band to the Sleeve April 24th. The hardest part was being off of my anit-inflammatory pre-op but since I've been losing, honestly I feel so much better. Joints aren't as stiff, muscles don't ache all the time. Doc thinks the lap-band may have been contributing to my flares, body's response to the foreign body and all. So far, so good

    Im scared/ sorry TMI

Agree with everyone here, I was worried about the same thing pre-op but when I spoke to the pre-op nurse she said no need to worry, would have to use a pad....gross, and if you were unable to care for your hygeine needs immediately post-op that the nurses are used to it and would "take care" of it for you...double gross. Thank the lord, my period came the week before surgery so I didn't have to deal with any of it, but was comforting to know that they were prepared if needed. Good Luck!
  5. Band to sleeve revision 4/24 and down 25 pounds as of this morning. Walking on treadmill 30 minutes a day. Having trouble getting all the protein in, and have had four super dizzy spells in the past few days.
  6. After all the years of struggle, that possibility is beyond my wildest dreams right now. Crossing fingers!!
  7. I'm three weeks out today, down 25 pounds, and even though I was leary I decided to try on some jeans today that haven't fit in two years...THEY FIT!!!!! I could button them! A little snug, but three weeks ago I never thought I would fit in them again. Too soon to declare myself a success, but I'm definately in the right lane
  8. Congratulations. So glad to be able to read your post today. I'm 21 days post-revision and so far I'm doing well, losing, and not hungry all the time. Just concerned for long term success. Always glad to read success stories. Great motivation!

    Pre-op Diet With Revision?

I had a liquid protein diet for 5 days pre-op for my revision.
  10. I agree, I'm only two weeks out but three weeks since I started my pre-op, so I was going crazy for a while then I realized last nite at a birthday party that I'm not dying of cravings anymore. I'm sure I'll have moments, but I'm settling into my new normal. Hang in there!
  11. I'm two weeks out and feel ready to return but found out that I have a 10 pound lifting restriction for another two weeks, job won't let me come back with restrictions so I'll be off for an entire month.
  12. In my experience the pain was worse with the revision. Doc chalked it up to having to go through scar tissue. Was on pain meds for three days, but it definately wasn't unbearable, just uncomfy. Nausea was my biggest problem. Good Luck!

    Jumping the Gun

I was throwing up in the hospital and it freaked me out that I was gonna bust something, my surgeon specifically said it was OK, he stapled and sewed over the incision. It hurt like hell, but he said I didn't hurt anything.
  14. Good luck to both of you. Try to relax, it's nerve wracking but you've worked long and hard to get to this point. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

    Surgery Questions

I understand your dad's objections, my family didnt want me to do it either. But they can't make the decision it is up to you. The nausea and vomiting were the first two days for me. Some don't have it at all. Just being honest I definitely questioned my decision the first few days when everyone said they were feeling great . And the post-op diet so far sucks, but I think this is gonna work...a few bites and I'm full, not always feeling hungry. I'm only one week out but feel like I made the right decision. Good luck!
