Sumsuz68 got a reaction from adoptmom2_3 in Any good broth/soup base recipes?
Tortilla Soup is amazing and easy. Make a salsa of your liking. I do 1 bunch green onions, 1 24 oz can of PEELED whole tomatoes in their own juice (very important to be in their own juice - others are gross), 1 4 oz can jalapeños, 1 4 oz can green chilis, 1 Tbsp garlic powder, 1 Tbsp Kosher salt and 1 bunch cilantro. Purée in whatever you have - a blender is sometimes hard, but works. Then you get a whole chicken and do just as instructed above for chicken soup - cover it with Water, add chopped onion and any veggies you like. After several hours, remove the chicken from broth. Shred it all up and put back in the broth along with the salsa. You can put the broth in the frig overnight without the salsa mixed in to get the fat to the surface to scrap off first if you want. After all ingredients are mixed, serve to your family and you strain your portion. Don't forget the tortilla strips for your family. Yummy! And then as time goes on you can purée the entire soup as your tummy allows until you can eat the soup just as your family does. Enjoy!

Sumsuz68 got a reaction from Victoria Bontempi in Will i ever be able to take a big bite again?
So, I'm starting to freak out. I'm reading all of these posts and everyone is talking about taking very small bites. I do know that I will be needing to do this, but will I EVER be able to take a normal size bite during a meal? And I really don't mean a big one. Just normal? Like 1 year down the line? I can't imagine taking less than pea size bites of my chicken for the rest of my life.

Sumsuz68 got a reaction from zacben in March sleevers anyone?
I was sleeved on the 1st and am doing great! I was out patient. Went to the hotel 4 hours after surgery. Slept a lot that evening, but made myself walk to get the gas out. Saturday I only took 1 pain pill, but probably could have gotten away with just a Tylenol. Walked that day too. It was a harder day in that I couldn't get my Protein Shakes down and probably only 4 oz of Water. Called my surgeon and he told me to try Popsicles and Powerade zero. Those were the ticket! sugar free Popsicles work great! Sunday, I walked the mall and felt great! Today I drove my 4 hour drive home and it made my belly button a bit sore, but not bad. I got 30 oz of Protein in along with about 20 oz of liquid. So, it's been easier every day! I also went to Denny's and had them strain their vegetable beef Soup and just sipped on that and also their chicken soup on another day. That was heaven! I'm super happy and excited for my new life. Down 14 pounds since the beginning of my pre op diet. Yay! Good luck, you March Sleevers!

Hi everyone, so, most of us on here are sleeved now! Yippee! I'm working to get my Protein and Water in, whichI can tell its going to be a big challenge. I don't want to overdue it and throw up, so I'm being hypersensitive about it and probably not doing enough. This is going to be a learning curve for sure! Other than that, I'm good. Belly is a little sore, but I can tolerate it with no meds, so that good. My shoulder pain is getting less, so that's good too! Just need to keep walking and drinking. Wishing you all the best!

I'm so sorry, skgirl27. I'm having a VERY hard time getting liquids down. Was ok in the morning, but its getting worse as day goes on. I'm so afraid I'm getting dehydrated. I throw up when I try to get it down. Anyone else having this problem?

Just arrived at my hotel in Vegas. Going to see the surgeon and nutritionist in 45 minutes. Then I get a last meal! Can't wait! Starting to be nervous, but at the same time it doesn't seem real. On roller coaster of emotions! Good luck to all!!!

I have severe GERD going into surgery. Next step is surgery. I've heard people getting reflux after. Has anyone had GERD prior to surgery and its either the same or getting better? I'm pretty worried.

It has seems like a dream up until today. I'm really feeling the pressure today. But I am excited too. Mostly nervous about the healing process. Afraid of strictures or leak. Ive lost 10 lbs in the last 10 days. That keeps me going.

I know. Is this really happening for us? Seems like a dream! I leave tomorrow morning for Vegas and meet with the surgeon. Then it's last meal time. According to the nutritionist your liver doesn't have time to expand so quickly, so I get a last meal. Looking forward to that just as much as the surgery!
