    The Flab Battle in Seattle

I was thinking how success happens more rapidly in a team environment. Lets get this group rolling and maybe in a month or so we can start planning quarterly group meet and greets and some fab soup joint! Who's with me?
  2. Sleeved Jan 28 and 45lbs down!

    Congrats! Looking great!
  4. Your body is telling you that you need more calories! 1000 a day is not excessive at all! If you need more calories to gain strength to work out, then eat! Just make sure you are putting healthy things into your body and good fuel! Use your sleeve like we all should have used our band, eat your calories instead of drinking them. The whole success is to get full on small amounts. if you eat a quarter of a chicken breast, you probably wont be able to fit anything else in! If you eat a couple of sweet fruity yogurts, you may have room left for more.... Just say no to too many high calorie mushy slippy meals and you will find the success that this sleeve was intended to provide! Good luck in your healthy weightloss!

I work in Covington, I used to live there. I drive a big white dog grooming truck called the Shag Wagon. Maybe you have seen it! I went to Dr Ortiz for my surgery in Jan and I am down 32 lbs! I am sorry to see your insurance got denied but Dr Ortiz will take good care of you!.
  6. If you are heading to Mexico, a box of knorr chicken bullion. Very flavorfull and easy on the tummy and you can make it in the coffee pot in your hotel room. The mexico hotels are nice but the broth leaves more than a bit to be desired!

    weight loss stalled

At this stage, focus on healing. The weightloss will come later. If you think about all you might have lost pre surg and the bit you lost after it probably adds up to quite a bit. Dont get discouraged when you stall it is very normal. In time, your sleeve with be an awesome tool toward healthy portion control. You didn't gain all the weight in a few months, give your body time to heal and then you will be able to focus on healthy eating and excersize and all the fun things that will be part of your new healthy lifestyle. Good luck in your journey!
  8. Please ad a few picks in a few months of the healing process and end result. This is so very helpful to all of us chickens who are scared to do this. It is so very awesome of you to share this with all of us. Thanks again!
  9. The way I see it.. if you lose 10 pounds a month, you will be down 120 pounds in a year. That is big weightloss! The people you see losing huge amounts of weight quickly usually have huge amounts to lose. If you are trying to lose 300lbs and you are on a 600 calorie a day diet... of course you are gonna lose more than somebody who is only carrying 250 pounds to begin with. The goal is to get to a healthy weight but losing in a healthy way is also very important. Good luck in your weightloss journey!
  10. I brought bullion cubes and asked the flight attendant for a cup of hot water. Easy peasy!

Items that Swell in your Stomach?

Your body will tell you what you can and cannot tolerate. Just make sure when you introduce new foods into your diet that you do them one at a time. That way, if certain things make you feel blocked or bloated you can avoid them for a few months. I tolerate instant oatmeal very well and that was one of the first foods I started eating on my mushy diet. Do an internet search for gastric sleeve diets and you will find so many different opinions. Good luck in your weightloss journey!
  12. Thank you soooooo much for posting these. I look forward to seeing your scars in a few months and a pic in those shorts without the overhang. How awesome for you to be at a healthy weight and shape. Enjoy your new life! Thanks again so much for sharing!
  13. 400 calories a day for a year is downright unhealthy. Heck even your high side of 600 calories and such low carbs should not give you enought strength to take a brisk walk! We all know what we should stay away from, fried foods and the like but be careful and maybe talk to more than one NUT to get a second opinion. Sleeve diets vary so much! Find one that you lose on while maintaining a decent energy level. Good luck in your journey!
  14. Yay you! Congrats! I hope my revision surgery achieves the same results.. 30 down 70 to go for me!

  17. It really was a true story. Some girl was responding to a post about being sick of shakes. I havent laughed so hard in a long time. All I could think of was.. HOLY S***! That girl is gutsy! Beer and hot wings! That is some cheat! I love this forum!

Support needed, 5 days post op!

Hang in there sweetie. I am on day 15 post op and the last few days I have been eating what seems to be a dozen small meals a day. A half gallon of chicken broth, countless cottage cheese mixed with skim milk spoonfulls and I still want a pizza in a bad way! I have read a ton of posts that blame acid reflux as a culprit in hunger. Try a better antacid, ask your Dr. or NUT about your crazy hunger. They have lots of ways to help you but remember... YOU ARE NOT ALONE! We are all here for ya and a good bunch of us would love a huge bowl of lasagne about now!

Looking for Buddie in Washington Area

I just started a group called western washington sleevers... howza bout joining gang!
  20. I read on here this morning about a girl who cried every morning at the thought of another day with only chicken broth and protien shakes that on post-op day 8 she went to a birthday party at a bar and had hot wings and a beer! She is a year post op and lived to tell the tale. I just about busted my incisions open from laughing so hard! We all feel her pain as we feel yours, relax pal, if you don't have a fever or tummy pain you are 99% in the clear but dont push it... toss your food into a blender. No more lumpys for a few weeks ok? Take care!

    Tomato soup

Costco sells a 4 pack of cartons of an awesome organic red pepper and tomato soup.Brand is Pacific. Only 110 cals a cup and 2 grams of fat, and 5 grams of protein!. Feels like a cheat everytime I have a cup!
  23. FlabBattleInSeattle

I cheated on my pre-op liquid diet

Every Dr. has a different set of guidlines... mine suggests clear liquid for 2 weeks and full liquids for 3 more! Screw that. I went to the cornell weightloss page and their patients eat mushies week 2! Dont hurt yourself with a big fat steak but some pureed stuff you have been craving is not gonna kill you, It will just set ya back a bit in your rapid weightloss. I chopped up a scrambled egg and a quarter pattie of lofat turkey sausage an had that for breakfast. I chopped the heck out of it but wow was it yummy! Just the small lift I needed and now I am back on track. Onward and upward my friend!

    Is this normal?

I drank my weight in chicken broth for a week after surgery. It is normal. You need to drink a ton and since there is no food in the way to stop it, you have a bunch of room for liquids! If you can drink comfortably, time for the happy dance! Good luck in your weightloss journey!
