Hello everyone. I am on day 4 of the 7 day liquid diet. I did pig out. I didn't do too much damage, but I did eat what I wanted. Actually the liquid diet isn't too bad. I am drinking the Bariatric Essentials, a lot of Crystal Light/Water, and sugar free popsicles. I could not stomach the broth. Ugh! My surgery is on Thursday, 2/14/2013 (Valentine's Day). I have lost 10lbs in 3 1/2 days. I have dogs and I have to walk them. Also, I love music and like to dance. I also like to clean so the constant sweating I think has helped with me losing so fast. I would tell you all to keep yourselves positively occupied. By day 3-4, it becomes quite normal. I am on a 800 calorie restriction, therefore, I try not to overdo it in the cardio department but as you lose it makes you feel better and better. I am more concerned with the liver shrinking aspect of all of this which is why I made my mind to not cheat and follow the doctors directions to the T. Good luck to you all.

Thank you sleevegirl830 for that excellent information and encouraging words. I just want to heal quickly and feel good. I have dogs and they will come in handy with me getting up and moving around after surgery. I am learning and writing down tips from everyone on this site. I used an aloe vera plant (the liquid from the plant) to heal my breast reduction scars in 2011. The aloe vera really did a remarkable job. I did not know about the juice, so I will definitely have to try that. Thank you again.

Hello everyone. My name is Shaun and I am new to the site. I actually just joined today, 2/9/2013. I am on the 3rd day of my 7 day fast at the moment, and it hasn't been as challenging as I thought it would be. My surgery is approaching and I am nervous and excited at the same time. I debated having this surgery many times and attempted to lose weight on my own. I would lose and gain and gain and lose. Several of my co-workers had their surgeries performed by Dr. David Kim and I am now following suit. Once I figure out exactly how this site works, I am sure it will be a great tool for me. I am sending well wishes to everyone!!

You look great. Congratulations. My surgery is on Valentine's day. Dr. Kim is performing my surgery as well. All of my co-workers had the bypass with Dr. Kim. I am on the only one getting the sleeve. I am excited and nervous.

You will be fine. Paranoia is quite normal when preparing for something as big as this.

I think it will have a lot to do with whether or not your liver has decreased in size like they encourage. I am on day 3 of a 7-day liquid diet. When I was at the hospital getting prepped for the EGD, my sister and I overheard the doctor talking to a 19 year old next door that we had met earlier that day (1/24/2013) in the lobby. Her surgery was scheduled for 1/31/2013 and she was on the 3 week liquid diet. Apparently she had cheated quite a bit and the doctor asked her mom after the EGD about that. The doctor explained to her mother that without the liver shrinking, the surgery could be delayed. The liver appears to be the big deal here as it gives the doctor more visibility and access due to how it's positioned to the stomach. Good luck!!!

Thank you all. I am so excited but I would be lying if I said that I am not just a little nervous. I was trying my best to do this on my own but I will be 39 years old in August and decided enough is enough. It's time to really do something about this. I am SO happy that I found this site.
