    1 month out

I'm sure other people are feeling this way, but I'm so tired of not feeling good after eating. This morning, I scrambled one egg, couldn't eat anything else afterwards. For lunch, I had egg salad (1 egg and 1 tbsp light mayo), a cheese stick, and 2 crackers. I just feel so bad after eating that it takes away from the satisfaction of enjoying my foods. This has been going on for about a week now. I have a check up appointment with my doctor on Friday, but sure wish that this feeling would go away so I can get to feeling normal again.
  2. I was lucky and only had to deal with being constipated for one day. I ate something that I knew would make it through my body quickly and cause diarrhea. Not the best choice, but it worked for me. I have been taking a daily fiber suppliment every since. I didn't want to do the powders or the drinks and founds some gummy ones.

    Confused now.....

I know someone who has the band and had to have all the fluid removed from it because of a cancer scare. Gained some weight during that time and will be getting it filled once again. It just seems to me that the band doesn't help you with learning how to eat right, but maybe I am wrong. I just know that I didn't like the idea of constantly having to get it filled up to lose weight. I also didn't want something foreign in my body.

    Week 3

So, I'm a little frustrated. First, I have only lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks. I tried not to be concerned about this since I can now do my belt up one hole smaller, but it's hard not to get frustrated. I have been very strict about making the right food choices and have been working out so much more than I used to, but this just isn't working how I thought it would. I guess I imagined myself losing 2-5 pounds each week. I'm scared that I put myself through all this only to have to live with the same results I was getting prior to having surgery. And, my legs have started swelling again. I know it's probably because I'm not getting enough water, but come on, how the hell am I supposed to get enough water when I can't take more than a sip at a time, can't drink 30 minutes before eating, and can't drink until 60 minutes after eating??? Sometimes it feels like outside of those times, I am spending every possible minute sipping water. I can't get any work (at my job) done if I'm spending more time trying to drink water than actually work. I hate that I can't gulp water down like I used to without pain. Second, I am almost at the end of the rope with one of my coworkers. Everyone I work with knows I had this surgery. This coworker, who is probably pushing 400 pounds, just is being so disrespectful to me. We used to go to lunch every day at work. I told him before I had the surgery that I wouldn't be able to continue that anymore. So, what does he do, he asks me if I want to go get something to eat. I just looked at him dumbfounded. I told him I can't do that anymore and that I bring my lunch now. Then, another day, he tells me that Krispy Kremes is selling mini donuts. Not that I'm a big donut fan or anything, but come on. I told him that's nice, but i don't really care and that I won't be eating that kind of stuff anymore. He told me I might want to after I see how cute it is. I told him that wouldn't change my mind. Honestly, how food looks doesn't make me want it, it's the taste that makes me want something. He then got the donut off his desk and held it up for me to see. I told him that still doesn't make me want it and that he shouldn't be eating it either considering how many calories and how much sugar and other bad stuff it has in it. I then walked away. Today, he stops by my desk and tells me that him and others are going to Uwajimaya (it has a food court) and asks me if I want him to pick me up anything. I said no and then couldn't control myself. I told him that he doesn't need to ask me if I want anything, that if I want something, I will go and get it myself. He looked shocked and hurt, but I didn't care. I'm so sick of him trying to pull me into his bad eating habits just to make himself feel better about his choices, which that is what I believe he is doing. By the way, did I mention that his brother is having gastric bypass surgery? My co-worker is a nice guy, but sometimes I just wish he would accept the lifestyle I have chosen and I hope I can be an influence on him to do something about his weight. Anyway, had to vent.

    they want me to what?!

This might sound bad, but I didn't use that thing at all. When they told me I had to do it that many times an hour, I was like WTF??? I only did it at the hospital and they didn't make me cough.

    beware of member khalidiva

It's amazing how many people there are in this world that will try to take advantage of people. I can't believe those schemes are still around.
  7. Loved those tacos. And now they came out with cool ranch doritos tacos. Would love to try it, but it's so not worth it now.
  8. When I was in the hospital, there was nothing on TV, when I was awake that is, so I watched a little bit of cooking shows. Not sure if I was mourning food or just craving it, but saw some really healthy recipes and the food looked so yummy. Too bad I wasn't awake enough to write down the recipes. LOL

So frustrating. Gaining? On week 3

I went through the same thing. I think I was over exercising and not eating enough calories. Since I couldn't really change the calorie intake and still make healthy choices, I decided to cut out the exercising for a week. I lost all that I gained and am now starting to exercise again, but not as much.

    Restless arms?

When I went home from the hospital, I had horrible pain in my lower arms. I hadn't needed any of my pain meds at all, until I felt this pain. It was so uncomfortable that I had to take the pain meds to make it go away. Luckily, it only lasted for two days. When I told my doctor about it, he was really surprised by it and thought it was strange, but didn't really make a big deal about it (probably because it was gone). Not sure if that's what you are feeling or not, but thought I'd share.

I do not enjoy food anymore

I also enjoyed going out to eat. I loved trying new restaurants. I guess I won't be doing that anymore, or maybe just once in a blue moon.

I do not enjoy food anymore

I can't wait to be able to eat salad again either. I'm a month out. I find that I savor food more now than I ever did and hope it's not just because of the fact that I'm so limited on what I can eat. My biggest problem that I have to work hard at is when I can see I only have one or two more bites left, but it tastes so good that I don't want to waste it, that I need to just put the food down and deal with the fact that I need to stop. Hopefully I will get there soon.

    nausea?

I am a month out and was fine until this last week. Sometimes after I eat, I feel sick and just want to lay down. This only happens when I try something new though.

    Price

Mine was also $35000 and insurance is pending. My insurance should pay all but my out of pocket, which is $800.
  15. I think different doctors will say different things, or so I am seeing that through many posts on here. My doctors plan allows me to drink coffee/tea after passing the clear liquid phase. I have had no problems with drinking it either.

    Stalled!

I was sleeved on 02/11/13 and had my first post op visit the very next Monday after that. Since then, I have gained 6 pounds. I was going to the gym and walking the treadmill for 30 minutes and walking up and down 5 flights of stairs 5 days a week. I was also doing exercises at home. I decided to test a theory out. I think that I was working out too much and not eating enough calories to balance it out, but how can we at this point. So, I stopped working out. My last regular work out was last Wednesday morning, which I only did 15 minutes on the treadmill. I haven't worked out since and am now down 4 pounds. So, I proved a point to myself, but as much as I want to just scrap the exercising to keep losing weight, I can't. I will go back to walking the treadmill for 30 minutes 3 times a week and see how things work out.
  17. I have Regence Blue Shield and had to do the 6 months of visits also. My nutritionist told me that she submits the weight I was at the beginning of the visits, not what I am at the time of the submission. I asked her if people get denied because they lose too much weight in that 6 month period and she said she had never seen that happen. I would ask your doctor's office what their experience is with your insurance and see what they say. I was 287 at the beginning and 268 at the time of submission. Still higher than the BMI requirement that my insurance has though.

    Possible first tattoo need help

I would think that it depends on where you get the tattoo. I wouldn't put anything on your back or where you can't reach comfortably (after surgery) because the first couple of days, you will probably spend sleeping on your back, which won't be comfortable at all. Also, my anesthiesiologist made comment about me having one on my inside wrist and the fact that I probably didn't think about getting an IV placed when I got the tattoo.

    Primary and secondary insurance question

Yeah, I would probably look for another hospital too. We are making a life changing decision here and need to be comfortable and confident in the surgeon we choose and their staff. Good luck!

    Primary and secondary insurance question

I actually work a lot with insurance companies (not for WLS though), and have been in the health care industry business since 1994. My experience is that most secondary insurances pick up the cost that the primary insurance doesn't pay for, providing that you follow your primary payers rules. Considering that you primary insurance doesn't cover WLS, I would think that as long as you have something from your primary saying that and give that to your secondary, you should be ok. I have never worked with the two insurances you have, but this has been the experience I have had with others.
  21. An itemized hospital bill is going to show the same thing as the EOB. Definitely check the medical record. I would be very upset if I wasn't told as they should have given you discharge instructions regarding the hernia repair and not just the sleeve.

    Scared of the flab

I started on day 6. My doctor told me I could start whenever I felt comfortable.

    Girdle/compression advice

Meant to add, it hurt to sleep on my stomach, and even sometimes to move around, and that's why I couldn't at first.

    Girdle/compression advice

I normally sleep on my stomach, but wasn't able to do so until about the 4th night.

    Adding foods early?

I actually started my soft food diet 2 days early. I did it because I didn't want to be at work and not feeling good if the foods I chose didn't work for me. I didn't have any problems.
