  1. I was sleeved February 8, 2013 and for me, the chewing is very important. I don't chew things touch, but if I don't chew we'll enough, I can feel the food move through my stomach, and at times it can be painful. I don't regret my decision of having the surgery even though I sometimes forget to chew at all.
  2. I get this if I don't chew well enough. Watch your chewing and see if that helps.
  3. I'm also 6 months out (sleeved 2-8-13). I have been struggling the last month. I was 203 this morning (262 on surgery day) and keep going up and down 1 pound daily for the entire month. It is irritating, but I just believe that I've gotten to the point where it will be really slow now.

    6 month follow up visit

Had my 6 month follow up visit today. At my last visit, at 3 months, my surgeon made me feel very uncomfortable with how he was very flirty with me. After that visit, I was relieved to find out that my 6 month visit would be with someone else. Boy, how upsetting my visit was. I saw just an RN and she had the worst bedside manner ever! Nothing she said to me was encouraging. It was so bad that I totally wanted to walk out of the office and started giving very short answers to her questions. I'm supposed to have labs drawn right before my 9 month follow up, but I walked out of that office with out making another appointment. I refuse to go back to a place that doesn't make me feel comfortable and be seen by someone who has a very negative attitude towards me. I'm just going to do all my follow up care with my PCP since I have had absolutely no complications with this surgery. It is so frustrating to not feel comfortable in a doctors office when a person is going through as much change as anyone goes through during this process. I felt completely unsupported. I felt like I was being told to do things that although I know I should be doing it (drinking more water) it's just hard. She tells me that I am supposed to get 40 grams of protein per meal. How am I supposed to do that when I can only eat 2 ounces of food at a time? If I eat any more than that, it hurts badly. Oh, and no mention about how great I am doing at my weight loss even though I have lost 58 pounds in 6 months. Then, she tells me to up my exercising, like I am not doing enough. I used to do 4 days a week on the elliptical for 30 minutes. Now I do 3 days and spend 2 to 3 hours dancing on Saturday nights. Sorry for rambling, but I'm just fed up with this office and I hate being made to feel like I am not doing anything right when I try hard to do the right things.

    The fittest city

I'm surprised to see Seattle on this list also. I thought we were on the list of one of the cities with the most obese people. LOL

    Migraines

I have suffered with migraines starting about 8 years ago when I got braces put on. I saw a doctor once for it and then just managed it with Excederin Migraine. Hated it when that was taken off the shelf. I was sleeved last February and can say that I haven't had very many migraines at all. In fact, I think I've gone a full 3 months without one. By the way, I've been out of braces for 2 years.

    5 1/2 months

So, I haven't been on here in a while, and decided to give an update. I just posted some pictures that I had taken back in June when I was at 222 pounds. I just came out of a 3 week stall and am now at 205 pounds. It was frustrating to not lose anything for such a long period of time, but I think it was because I wasn't exercising as much as I had been due to all that has been going on at work. (Just now getting frustrated typing this because the enter button won't work in this box!) I am happy about my weight, not so much about the saggy skin that is coming up in places where I didn't expect. I also haven't been this weight since after having my son 20 years ago. It's nice and I'm excited to see how much more I will lose and how much better I will look.

    Losing the boobs! Nooooo!

I am a smaller cup size now than when I was 120 pounds and 18 years old. I'm sad about it, but thank goodness for plastic surgery and push up bras!!
  14. I went through the same thing. I was 262 on my surgery day (02/11/13) and the past couple of months, the weight has just been disappearing so fast.

    Gym 2 weeks post op

I asked my doctor when I was being discharged when I could go back to the gym. He told me as soon as I felt up to it, but to just only do what felt comfortable. I was never told to avoid any abdomen exercises, but because of what I read on here, I just avoided it.
  16. I do 30 minutes on the elliptical 3 to 4 times a week. I decided that I'm not going to do more than that right now because when my weight loss slows down, I want to be able to up my exercising. I also just had my 3 month follow up with my surgeon and when I told him how much I was exercising, he thought that was great.

Ok, now I'm craving something spicy! LOL I loved spicy food before the sleeve and have no problem with it now.

To tell or not to tell

I tell anyone who asks. I do this because I want people who were in the same situation, or worse, than me to see that there is hope. People have been talking about what I did in my office and now 2 other people are going to seminars and one is almost done with her 6 months nutrition visits (required by our insurance).

    3 month follow up visit

Had my 3 month appointment on 05/17/13. My doctor says I'm losing weight a little faster than expected, averaging about 3 1/2 pounds a week. I thought WTF? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with that, but I thought it was a little slower than a lot of people. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others, but it's hard not to wonder why others are losing so much more than I am. I went shopping over the weekend because I'm just tired of wearing clothes that don't fit right. What a frustrating experience. I'm still in the plus size section, but just can't seem to find anything that isn't ugly, to my at least. Of course, I'm shopping at stores that the clothes cost a little less because I know I won't be in them long and don't want to spend a lot of money on something that I will grow out of fast. The other issues I'm having is although I look at myself in clothes and can't believe how skinny I look in them, when I take pictures, I still see that "bigger" woman that I was last year. It's hard to get those thoughts out of my mind. I did go dancing on Saturday night, which I hadn't done in about 2 or 3 years and it felt so good to be able to dance through 3 or 4 songs without my ankles hurting or getting tired.
  20. I was sleeved on 02/11/13. I was 262 on the day of surgery, had no complications. I was able to start exercising again the Saturday following surgery. My energy levels are much greater than they were pre-surgery. I do have problems getting enough liquids in, but I feel that it's because I feel full much longer after eating than I expected I would.

    More restriction? I'm so confused

I think it's the weather for me too. It's been very sunny and in the 70's here in Seattle and I'm barely eating at all, and I'm on vacation and have been out and about. The nice thing is, I don't feel hungry like I would pre-surgery.
  22. I look at it this way. I was told in my seminar that I could lose 100 pounds in a year. If you have lost 58 pounds in 5 months, then you are a little over halfway to 100 pounds, which in my opinion, is very good. Keep up the good work and try to stay possitive.

    Protein Bars

I love the Atkins cranberry and almond bars, but I only ever eat protein bars when I need something else to help me hit my daily protein goal.

    regrets

I did the same thing, started the next phase a few days earlier. I felt like my body was telling me it was ready. I also only ate the approved foods and amounts. I was sleeved on 02/11/13 and was 262 on my day of surgery. I'm a slow loser, but I'm happy with my loss.
