  1. The most important thing that you can do is stay the course. Weigh your food and make sure that you log it. Attend support group and see how other people are doing. You will see that everyone loses at different rates. As long as you control your food intake and exercise regularily, you will surely meet your goal. Good Luck
  2. Wow, you look absolutely fabulous congratulations. Mark
  3. I have read many posts on this site, I didn't see many that would scare me. Surgery and peoples reaction to surgery is many faceted. I know people that complain about getting their teeth cleaned. Can you believe that? I only know personally of one person who had a terrible time with her surgery. I felt so so sorry for her. She is a good friend and had her surgery about the same time as I did. But even with her complications she is still very happy with the results. Let me ask you, what did you read that scared you so badly? Was it complications? The recovery? The changes in your eating habits what. I would really like to know could you please expand on it for us? Perhaps by knowing that we could help you to alleviate your fears and make you feel a little bit more comfortable about the procedure. Of course if you haven't had it yet, it is not too late for you to cancel. It really is all up to you. Best wishes, Mark
  4. Good job, now go mingle with the ladies.

    Goal weight

I picked it. I thought if I could get to 225 I would be happy. But I found out that this was still a BMI classified as overweight. I didn't want that. But I continued to lose another 30 pounds at least.

    Can't stop losing

I am 30 pounds below my goal weight. At 195 and six four I am super thin. My wife has been asking me to stop losing and I finally called my nutritionist and asked her for help. I was told to introduce healthy fats into my diet, like avacado and olive oil and the like. I also upped my carb intake slightly and I thought I was doing better but I have lost another five pounds this last week. I just keep trying to add a few calories when I can but lately I get full pretty fast. I do at least 2 Protein bars a day and a Protein shake every morning still. Good luck, who woulda thunk we would have a underweight issue huh?

You know you lost weight when

I think all of these comments are a ditto for me. With of course the ones pertaining to all of the fair ladies on the forum. Weightloss surgery for me was a great decision and a life saving one to boot.

I to have stabilized and you and I are about the same amount of time out from surgery. Some people look healthy they say that about me. Some people say you may look younger they say that about me also. But you had the most miraculous transformation. I hope that you feel as well as you look. I congratulate you on your journey. Mark, Edmond Oklahoma
  12. I went down today and got a new drivers license and concealed carry permit today with my new skinny pictures. I'm ready to accepting my new look and get on with my life as a skinny person. At the range Sunday at a pistol match, someone called me skinny, they had to say hey Mark, i'm talking to you bud. Its a good thing
  13. I'm just a little over a year out. I'm down 200 pounds. My weight loss was very steady and every couple of months my pant size would drop. I went from 4xlt shirts down to large tall in dress shirts and Med tall in tee's. My waist went from a 50 down to a 34. I bought nothing but Walmart 9.99 jeans and a few pull over shirts as I lost but I got rid of a ton of shirts and pants. I didn't hesitate to get rid of a lot of the shirts right away but my wife has a friend who has a tubby hubby and he wanted the 4xlt shirts but they have not shown so next week my closet will only have clothes that fit me. I will even get rid of the 36 jeans I bought a few months ago. I will never go back, ever.

    New and improved "after"

You have been really getting it girl
  16. I have lost enough weight now that whenever I see someone that I haven't seen since surgery, they now think that I perhaps could have cancer or something. I daily get comments from people telling me to "eat more" you need to slow down. I don't think that they totally understand that now we all have this little teeny stomach and I am not about stretch it out just to satisfy them right?
  17. Well tomorrow starts the next year of my weight loss journey. It is hard to believe that in the last year I have lost almost 200 pounds. I rolled into that OR not knowing how well or how successful I would be. Little did I know how great a decision this gastric sleeve procedure would be for me. My quality of life has so drastically improved. My diabetes is in total remission, no more high cholesterol, high blood pressure gone, back problems history, knee problems non existent, my energy is back my zeal for life is back. I am able to care for my wife who is chronically ill from RA and obesity (I know ironic isn't it). Needless to say I am so very thankful to everyone who supported me over the last year and look forward to more years of continued success. Mark, Edmond Oklahoma

    July sleevers please check in..

Down 200 pounds to 196. Feeling great all my labs are great, no type II, no high cholesterol, no high bp, heart problems gone, lung problems gone, kidney disease gone. Can't believe it. Wow.
  19. Well, I'm about a week and a half away from my one year surgery anniversary. My starting weight was 387 pounds. When I got on the scales this morning for my weekly weigh in an whala the scale told me that I weighed 196 pounds. That's 200 pounds in about one year. I am so stoked. I went for years being obese, adding more and more co morbidities, adding more drugs, for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiomyopathy, kidney disease and not to mention chronic back pain and COPD. Now with one year in my sights, literally all of these problems are either gone or remission. I am so thankful for my surgical team, my wife and children and the support of my co workers for my success. I wish you all continued success in your weight loss journey. Mark, Edmond Ok

Hey Mike, here is a picture of my today at the range.

    One pound away

Hi Mike 4235506. I followed my doctors instructions to the letter when it came to my prep. I was told that they had changed it from 2 weeks to 10 days because so many people complained about how hard it was. I told them that it was easy for me to put on 200 pounds of excess weight. I went on the liquid diet for 3 weeks and didn't hesitate. I looked at my weight loss surgery as a new lease on life. I wasn't given a good prognosis at all when it came to my longevity. I sincerely hope that you Mike attack this with a vengeance because you will be given the opportunity to succeed. We all here on this site want you to do well. I have a lot of skin on my belly that kind of bothers me. My arms and legs are ok. But I would really like to get rid of the belly skin. I may look into it but I don't really think that I want to spend that much money. What the heck, I'm 60 almost 61 years old. But I am going to start working out at the YMCA finally since I got my cardiac clinic and it would be nice to firm up the old belly. I would like to look better with a tucked in shirt. I didn't care how I looked for years. But now I find myself looking in the mirror a little longer every time I get dressed. I want to look good now. It makes a big difference after you lose the weight. Good luck Mike
