BigDaddyJoe reacted to epasseri in Imitation crab meat! any ideas/suggestions.
You could try sautéing it with some green onion, garlic, salt & pepper, then add some lite cream cheese to the mix. Use that mixture to fill some wonton wrappers and bake it off to make a crab Rangoon.

I don't know for sure, but since it is just going to be like Medicare for everyone, then I would assume very little would be covered. Even the author of the Affordable Care Act is now saying that it is a train wreck.

I was sleeved on March 8, 2013, just over 3 months ago. I am at 74% right now. I wasn't a high BMI'er to begin with, my BMI was 36. I started at 274, and am now 212. My doctor's goal is 190. That still puts me 1 lb. above the normal range on the BMI chart. I'd like to lose maybe 5-10 lbs more than that. I've been 190 before, like 15-20 years ago, and was very happy being that weight. All of my health problems were weight related. I've gotten off the BP medication within 3 months. I won't know for another couple of months whether I can stop using my CPAP machine for sleep, because insurance won't cover another sleep study until then.

    Who has actually reached goal?
    I have i have - 100%!!!!
jumping up and down doing raising my hand
while doing the happy dance, rubbing my little tummy, and chewing SF gum at the same time
the sky is the limit to what % you want to lose
    sure losing 60 + % is a success
sometimes i think docs use that low % so they can show their (docs) % rate of patients being successful
i "mark" my goal date at one year PO
i was fluctuating a couple of lbs - but i was at goal
now 6 months since goal - i am maintaining
i might slip here or there - (most/all of do sometimes) but i am doing well - enjoying GOAL
weight fluctuates about 2 lbs on occassion
maintenance can be harder than losing the weight
but i think we all know that
we had that prob with our yo yoing before gaining the weight back
i continue to say and believe - that for me - with the aide of the sleeve - i will keep my weight at goal, fluctuating here and there at times
i/we have gone through "too much" - major surgery to help us lose weight - i can not go backwards now
in the past i, as all others, have gone through too many "personal" issues being overweight - self-esteem, confidence et al
and more importantly all the health problems associated with our weight
now i'm so happy i feel like i could burst sometimes, really
and.........this 59 year old grammy - is cute as a button
go to my profile, check out my before and after pictures
i'm enjoying the healthier, happier, longer life that we all want
i am proudly showing off my stats
    DOS
    12/15/11
    235 lbs
    5'3
    present
    130 lbs
    GOAL
    still 5'3
you can do anything you set your mind to
    follow all the rules
i know you and everyone else will be a great success story
    good luck

Yes, Bluto, you are right, it is somewhat misleading. The President of course is not going to choose a provider, I did say he will choose for his family, not himself. They will register with the exchange but of course they won't use it because they have access to the White House physicians. It is a political gesture. Pure and simple.
Congress did throw all their aids under the bus though, forcing them into it, but of course not themselves as I stated.
Most things enacted by congress make sure they are exempt from. Imagine, Dem or Rep living by the same rules and law as us little people! Sheesh!

This is a tough one. My wife worried about this a lot. We have personally seen weight loss surgery destroy relationships of people we knew. Mostly because one person had newfound confidence, and ended up going out with friends a lot more, which led to adulterous situations. My wife and I were both sleeved, exactly 6 weeks apart (me - 03/08/13, her - 04/19/13). Our relationship is solid, but it hasn't been an intimate relationship for some time, for whatever reasons (3 kids and being too tired all the time being a major one). I am hoping that we can somehow get our 'groove' back, and improve that aspect of our relationship. The desire is there, at least on my end, and I believe on hers, but it just isn't as easy as it should be. Things have been the way they are for a while now, and it is hard to just flip a switch and change them. I don't even know how to initiate things anymore. I'm keeping my hopes up, and we'll see how it goes.

Hi there, my wife and I were both sleeved, exactly 6 weeks apart. We wanted to do it closer, but she had problems getting off from work, so had to do it later. We submitted to insurance at the same time, and had no issues, were approved very quickly. I was sleeved on March 8, and am now down 60 lbs. I only had 84 to lose, so now only have about 25 more to get to goal. I was taken off my blood pressure medication yesterday (yay!). My wife was sleeved April 19, and is down 27 lbs now, I believe. She also had about 80 to lose.

Are you a March sleever? If not, I'm sorry but the decision has been made that too many non-March sleevers have gotten into the group and that goes against the original intent of the group. There are other Facebook groups for people not sleeved in March.

I'd be interested to see people's answers to this also. I've looked at it as being its own reward. I've cut the BP med dosage in half and will hopefully be off it soon. What more reward do I need than that?

OK, I think I'm all caught up with the invites. I set up the group, but anyone who is a member can invite people, so if you are already a member and see someone posting here that they'd like to be added, you can go ahead and do it, so they don't have to wait for me to get to it.

That's just an average so you're not upset if you don't lose more than that. I'm only 7 weeks out from surgery and have already lost over 50% of my excess weight. If you follow the nutritional recommendations and do some exercising, there is no reason you can't get down to your ideal weight.
