CharmingTortoise reacted to Fiddleman in big veins tonight
I used to be a notorious bad poke when doing blood tests as a formerly really obese guy. 3-4 tries in both arms, failing and then having to take it from the hand. Ouch! Now, my veins are very visible on both my forearms after months and months of training . I doubt the nurse will ever have a problem again. I will be known as "the good poke" by all the nurses. Lol.

I have to get blood drawn this week - wish mine looked like that!!
They look pretty normal to me in my completely unprofessional opinion. Kind of looks like my ex-husbands hands. The paramedics he worked with liked using him as a poke guinea pig.

I can't believe how much I walked today. First I walked to McDonald's (.62 miles) , I usually get an egg mcmuffin and eat it open faced.
From there I went about three blocks to the Kroger. Didn't buy anything because what I wanted was perishable and my thought is I needed to go to the bathroom. I was on my way to the bus stop to go to Walmart to get a few things. I stopped at the dollar store and got some small food containers that I'm going to use for my soap making.
But it is Sunday and the buses don't come but once an hour so I decided to start walking and see how far I got.
The total walk from McDonald's to Kroger, walking around Kroger and then walking to the bus stop and then walking down three more bus stops I estimate by mapmywalk.com to be (1.51 miles) not counting walking around I did at a Dollar Store and Walgreens and then I walked around in Walmart and carried two bags of groceries to the bus stop. Then I sat down. Waited for the bus and hoped on and rode to a place that was about 3 blocks from my house (.72 miles). Then I walked to the Neighborhood Walmart (one nearer our house but doesn't have what I needed earlier from the big Walmart) and got some milk for steel-cut oatmeal.(.75 miles again). I think I walked at least 4 miles today.

NSV for me -- new workout clothes! I looked at myself in the gym mirror and realized that in my 3-sizes-too-big shorts and t-shirt, I just looked like Sponge Bob Squarepants. I was just square, and looked like a sad ragamuffin, like I was in someone else's clothes.
So this weekend I resolved to buy new shirts/shorts. Such a revelation -- looking good at the gym! I accused Nordstrom's of installing the skinny mirrors in the activewear dressing rooms, because darn, I looked GOOD in Large capri's and dri-fit shirt. But the outfit looked just as good in my true-to-life mirrors at home. Wow! Now let's see if it looks that good at the gym tomorrow!

I'm a 911 dispatcher for a three county dispatch center in Northern Michigan. I've been working midnight shifts for the last 12 years and for most of my adult life. I'm curious how many others would attest that shift work throws their eating habits (and sleeping) into a spiral of chaos?

I tried a marshmallow and the sugar was too much for my tummy. For me sugary stuff makes me break out in a sweat and get lightheaded about 10-20 minutes after I eat it. So needless to say that feeling is not worth it for me.
Good luck. ????
