Dr Kelly information.....
I had a great experience with Dr Kelly! I highly recommend him! His training and credentials are very respectable. His coordinator is Lora Lee at (423) 367-3031. Please contact me with any questions. He's definitely worth paying a few more dollars. He's very concerned about safety and will only do surgery at a real hospital, no clinics. Good luck! Linda

Let's make a sticky of Mexico Drs
Please post if you have had plastic surgery in MX! Looking to go back to MX after successful sleeve 4/6. I've found Dr Eduardo Gongara at Genisis Clinic. His before and after pics are amazing! Skinny flat tummy tucks and lipo seems fantastic. It's so hard to decide where to go, who you can trust in MX, so first hand experiences are so valuable!

light headed
Sometimes it's from lack of salt. My dr said to eat broth or protein soup. Also, when u lose weight, your BP meds might need to be decreased.

I love all of your pictures Gibson Girl! I was sleeved by Dr Kelly on 4/6/13. Where you in rm 13? Our pics look so much the same! Like you, two days after surgery and I was feeling so good. Recovery has been great. I am no longer controlled by hunger!! Cecy took me shopping and out to lunch with Dr Kelly's Dad. My husband and I were treated like royalty by the Kelly's.

How does being a coordinator work?
I had thought the coordinator work FOR the doctor, but discovered that they are more like a travel agent. The number one thing that upsets me, is when they bad mouth surgeons who wont do business with them to their clients. Someone on a private FB group say to a pre-op patient that our Dr was a drug abuser and had nick name of Dr Killer. She also said to check his license as he didnt have one. From what i understand,MX dr license do not expire. This lady had so much negative things to say. knew she didn't just research him, she had to hear from her coordinator. I had a coordinator private msg me when I put my Dr and surgery date in GastricSleeve.com. She said my Dr wasn't good anymore and her Drs were much better. What's funny, is that she was sleeved by my Dr. And months after her surgery, she could only say positive glowing things about him. I'm sure there are honest coordinators out there.

Dr Ramos Kelly vs Dr Garcia, in Tijuana?
All of his patients rave about Dr. Kelly! I see him Saturday 4/6 and can't wait! I spoke with him by phone without an appt and he spent 20 mins answering my questions. He is a trauma surgeon trained in the US. I understand he gets referred more difficult patients. I was impressed by credentials like ASBMS and FACS, too. HEY, he has a new site where you can ask him questions and he chats live on Fridays 6-8 pm pacific time Www.bariatricchat.com. You can chat with him yourself. Both Dr Garcia and Dr Kelly are quite competent. Good luck with your decision!

why can't protein shakes taste good?
Thanks Kimkat3! I just ordered the variety pack off of BJs! Can't wait to try them!
-
How about protein powder in diet sprite?
What is a tolerable liquid Protein? I tried body fortress fruit punch and cold barely swallow it. (I'm pre- op). Is it better refrigerated? I am relieved to hear that some Dr allow carbonated drinks after a period of time!

Surgery with Dr. Ramos Kelly. Who else?
My is April 6 with Dr Kelly. I have done a bit if research on him and the hospitals in TJ. He charges more as he prefers the Florence Oasis of Hope hospital which costs more. This hospital is fully equipped! Dr. Kelly is a member of ASMBS and FACS which are respected American surgical groups. He trained in the US for over a year for transplant surgery. He served in the US military, in the marines I believe. If you go on GastricSleeve.com and search for Dr Kelly, you find an over abundance of positive comments. He often takes referrals from other surgeons for revisions and high BMI. Every patient that I have contacted through these sites raves about his ability, his compassion and genuine care he and his wife and staff provide. As you can tell, I'm sold and have no doubts about putting my life in his hands. Linda

23 Days Post-Op. Back to work. Headache & Fatigue. Please help
I'm only taking off a week from work. My HR person said I can only take unpaid leave. I hope I will not be so tired! My HR person said that because my regular dr did not advise surgery, then I don't have medical consent. I guess I never should have told her I'm going to Mexico. I am pre diabetic and have a BMI of 39. Sorry that I'm off topic. But I hope I can handle work 9 days after surgery!

help! less than 3 weeks away from surgery, STILL undecided!
Oh my word! We have be sailing in the same boat! Im 3 weeks away from surgery. Everyday seems like the Last Supper. Not copious amounts of food, but whatever snack that I think I want to eat. I started to doubt that I wanted the surgery! Honestly, I think that I had to mourn the loss of my old eating habits. I have given up soda and do not drink with meals to trying to prepare and trying not to eat candy, etc. I was just struggling from knowing I won't be able to snack incessantly. Thankfully this week, I am getting excited once again. I don't want to eat mindlessly anymore. I feel ready! I think that I had to go through the emotions of giving up a part of me. I'm ready to change! I want this. I know it is a tool and not a magic wand. Maybe you, too, are going through emotions of the huge changes that lie ahead. The decision is still yours to make! Linda

I told my boss and now I'm upset!
I work in HR and HIPAA applies to employers as well as health providers. What your boss did is not right and I would definitely talk with your HR rep. Any information regarding personal information should not be shared. I don't know about lawsuit implications, but where I work, I would bet that legal would be concerned! I am really debating telling my boss. I am only taking off 5 days at most and worry that if I look like I just had surgery, LOL, people will wonder what's up! I don't want people saying that I took the easy way out. Good luck on Monday! Linda

How many of you recent sleevers are hungry?
I am a believer once again! I will be able to conquer hunger! Thanks for everyone's testimonials!

How many of you recent sleevers are hungry?
I have the same fear! I think it won't work and I will constantly be hungry. I'm already preparing for gastric bypass if this doesn't work! I am about a month away from surgery. I think I'm just scared of making a huge change. Thank for voicing your fear. I'm not alone! LOL!

Extraordinary Science of Addictive Junk Food
They knowingly added salt and sugar to make the food more addictive. What a great reason to eat fresh produce and non processed foods. There are a couple food documentaries on Netflix, Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and another called Hungry for Change. After watching them, it's clear that processed foods are the enemy and fruits and veggies are our hope of living healthier.

FREAKING OUT
So glad you are doing better! The worst part is behind you, and it sounds like you had excellent care. And it's really important to follow pre- op instructions! Thank you for sharing your story, it helps me to prepare, for when its my time! I will start taking Salsa lessons so I can be prepared for my home visit with Dr Kelly! LOL, actually, that does sound fun. Maybe I can put that on the list of things I can when I'm smaller and more agile! So glad you are doing better!
