soft mushy foods. my surgery was Jan. 16. cream of soup w/protein powder -suggested size 8 oz. I had about 6 oz without feeling too full or depriving myself. I drank tea, decaf anything warm, my stomach could not stand cold or even room temp. broth was my friend. 1/4 cup applesauce w/protein. or 1/4 cup low fat, well cooked beans. that was my breakfast lunch or dinner choices. when I didn't feel like having any of these, i would have a protein shake instead.

I was provided with a guide which gives me portion amounts for just about everything I eat. Potatoes -for me - is 1/4 cup and maybe add some protein to it. I've been told to serve according to the suggested amounts and eat until full. "STOP WHEN YOU FEEL FULL". however, mushy soft foods go down easier and faster so you tent to eat all of your serving. the very first food I had was a scrambled egg, I ate 3 little pieces, the size of a dime it took me about 1/2 hr. to eat that much. I was full after that. I added some salsa to the eggs, made more mushy and I was able to eat about 1/3 (this was like 3 days later) and it took me 45 minutes. My surgery was Jan 16 and I can now eat just about anything, but I do get full when certain foods faster than others so I eat more of some foods than others, but I don't eat more than my portion size. I hope this helps

I have a routine . I'm up by 5:45 am while I'm running the water for my shower I sip on water. I continue drinking until 6:30 sip sip sip. I eat breakfast at 7am. Depends how long it takes me to eat' I don't start drinking liquids until 8 30. I drink until 10 and stop for 1/2 hr.I get a snack. Now remember sugar free jello and sugar free popcicles count towards your liquids...anyway 10:30 I snack I start drinking again at 11 am. I stop drinking at 12:30. I have lunch at 1 start drinking at 2:00 stop at 3 have snack at 3:30 I go to the gym I start drinking at 4:30 work out 1hr and keep drinking until I get home. I usually have dinner at 6:30 so I don't drink until 7 and I stop drinking at 8 30pm This is what works for me. I sip sip sip. I drink decaf coffee, decaf tea, broth, crystal lite, popcicles sugar free jello. I hope my routine helps with some ideas. Don't forget to drink protein shakes.

I understand completely- I have high tolerance for pain myself. 3 natural childbirths, no pain meds to assist. Yet, this pain in my stomach, did make me cry. Please call his office and try to see another surgeon in his/her practice. My pain started on Saturday morning, woke up with it. by noon I had taken two pain pills and took more every two hours after speaking to the doctor on call. at 2 am i ended up in the ER. I didn't even take my pain pills after surgery and in 1 day I took like 10 pills.

I had the worst pain at the pit of my stomach. I ended up in the ER. turned out to be stomach spasms. they gave me some drops to take every 4 hrs under my tong. Pain lasted about a week. I haven't had any more pain since. I was told this happens while the stomach is healing. You should call your doctor. good luck

I found out I was approved for surgery on Nov. 12. I immediately switched regular coffee to 1/2 half for a month. the last 30 days prior to surgery I was drinking decaf. I'm about 7 wks out and I just changed to 1/2 half and im doing well. I'm a black coffee drinker, no sugar no cream, always been. this 1/2 half is pretty good. I do miss an espresso

Working out within the first month of surgery...
Quiny replied to Butterflyjdjl's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I hear you! i used to do 2 hr cardio mixed w/weights 3 timex per week. I miss it so much. step class 2x per week. Now, I've been doing treadmill, eliptical and bike 1 1/2 mile & then I do some resistance (life fitness)14 machines, 2x. I miss the heavy sweating and my heart pounding, but i'm told that in order to get there, i need to take it easy now! Just don't stop walking or working out somehow as long as it's safe -
i had my surgery Jan 16. I wasnt having any constipation until I started to introduce food. I use milk of magnesia once a week. then I'm fine for a couple of days then i go 2or 3 days w/o going. I've had to use M O M every sunday (it just works out that way) good luck.

Me too. I decided to try Salmon but I don't like the taste of Lite or fat free mayo, so I added lime juice. I had 3 little pieces and I was chocking. food would not go up or down. I ended up vomiting. this was the worst day since surgery. I had liquids all day today. I'll go back to mushy foods tomorrow. and Yes the responses are correct. You will be just fine.

This was Labor day weekend 2012 -
From the album: Me
This is me and with my brother. celebrating his birthday in August 2012. After I saw myself in this picture, I was certain and determined more than ever that WLS was for me. I had already started my journey. -
Just yesterday I got the OK to move to mushy foods. I made an omelet with a very small egg, chopped fresh broccoli about 5"diameter, I ate about 1/3. Lunch was soup and I added 2 PCs of potatoes (PCs were about size of a dice). I was full the rest of the afternoon. I had an 8oz of myoplex lite for dinner. To keep up with my liquids I drink herbal tea, decaf coffee, water, sugar free popcicles and jello. But to be honest I want some chips and salsa. I think I need to get back to work.
