  1. Velveteen, That's awesome you guys are going to have each other to support one another..My husband has been dieting with me..He has lost over 20lbs (without surgery ). He will be by my side at the gym when we both finally get over bronchitus. I guess we like to share everything. I'm almost 6 weeks out and I'm feeling great. I just eat till I'm satisfied and then quit. The hardest part for me is not being able to drink while I'm eating. Prior to surgery I could drink at least 3 cups of Water while eating dinner. Where are you from? I'm from Rockland County. Good Luck!!
  2. I've tried taking Melatonin..it does nothing for me..There are times when the Ambien does nothing for me and I need a Xanax in conjuction with it. I usually take it right when I'm ready to go to sleep, I can't fall asleep in the dark so my tv is on but maybe I'll try turning it off..It really sucks doing so good all day to remember eating a meal when I'm not even "awake." The only thing I've done on Ambien is the sex and cooking, thankfully no driving..my husband would know enough to stop me cuz half the time I don't know where my keys are anyway. I hate not being able to sleep..I worked through my depression with help of my therapist and coming off my meds before surgery..Ambien and the Xanax are the only thing left, but I get bad anxiety and work myself up so the Xanax may always stay plus its so minute that it shouldn't be an issue.
  3. if I don't take it I don't sleep..and then if I don't sleep I end up falling asleep in the middle of the day and I need to be up in the middle of the day not sleeping all day and up all night..teaching doesn't occur at night, if it did I'd be golden lol..Its a catch 22...It sucks having sleeping problems. I took myself off all my other mind altering medications but I still can't sleep
  4. it is the oddest thing..sometimes I don't remember even eating..I just get up eat and go to sleep..even though I may appear awake when i do it my mind isn't it is so odd
  5. i don't see the reason not to have it they have sugar free fat free options..we have a tool to help us..its not the end of our life we should still enjoy some of our foods but now we are better equipped to handling it. Someone on here said you probably didn't pay for your surgery is that what you had surgery for.. Well I didn't pay for my surgery but my insurance company does that my husband pays for. I had this to help me as no matter what I did the weight didn't come off. I'm not going to deprive myself if I want a half a slice of pizza. IIts not just our food intake that will help with weightloss...going to the gym and living an active lifestyle..its not all about food and if you make it all about food its not good. Go treat yourself to that frozen yogurt, I've found that things I used to like IE Coffee..doesn't even taste good anymore...You'll notice that..right now I'm 6 weeks out and my doc has me eating solid food. He has told me try all different foods. He is so happy with my progress..I've lost 32.4 lbs..and I have been sick with bronchitis for almost 2 weeks. There are times when I see people post on here and they almost seem rude..Aren't we here to support each other? I know that's what I'm here, if I wanted rude people in my life I'd walk out my front door I live in NY!
  6. I do so well ALL day..stay under my calories eat all my protein then I take my Ambien and its like I haven't eaten all day. I will NOT fall asleep until I have something to eat. I know its a side effect of the drug but it is so annoying. I asked my doc for something new and he said that they all pretty much have a similar side effect, and I already know what my demons are from Ambien...its just so annoying!!
  7. you could also ask for a smaller portion instead of childrend mwenu
  8. I got a card from the doctor that asks the restaurant if I can order from the children's menu because i can't eat a normal portion because i have had surgery, but I don't care who knows about my surgery either
  9. I had an open wound too, it wouldn't bleed but its the incision right below my left boob. It is still not completely healed and thats the only one that hurts, and I'm a month out. I told my doctor and he said my body must've rejected the glue there and its ok just put a bandaid on it.
  10. I'm so disappointed .I gained a pound this week..I know we all hit stalls and this may happen but I don't want to see gains..Hopefully next week will be better.
  11. Two weeks out I was still eating chicken broth sneaking a noodle in there so I could chew
  12. I was never on a puréed diet, just soft foods. It's amazing how different doctors are.
  13. I'm a month post op, I think this week I've hit a stall. I've lost 30lbs so far. I think because I'm not walking much, it is hard it's been so cold and snowing here and now of course I am sick. I try to eat about 4 oz of protein, and something on the side but I don't really weigh my food anymore, unless its something like lox then I weigh it.
  14. I've been noticing it about my hair too..I thought maybe I wasn't rinsing the conditioner out enough, but I guess I was wrong..I just let my hair do what it wants to.
  15. if you don't like chicken broth..try ramen noodle soup and just strain the noodles..I also did the broth from wonton soups..my husband got to eat the wontons...he was pretty happy...I'm sorry you are having a rough time..It does get better...I'm 3 weeks post op and am slowly transitioning myself to soft/pureed food. My husband and I have saved so much money from not eating out these last 3 weeks, its actually nice. I hope you feel better and you will think its worth it when you see that number on the scale drop
  16. I'm thinking of moving on to soft foods..I kept down chicken n was fine...I'll go a few more days with full liquid, but I don't think I'll make this whole week, n whts a few days neway...thanks everyone
  17. Thanks..I do take Prilosec..I have been since the beginning..I haven't really felt hungry up until tonight...I was hungry..I'm 3 days away from being 3 weeks post op and my doc said I could go to soft foods when I was 3 weeks out...i'm trying to go 4 though
  18. Urgh, Ok so i'm still in the full liquid stage BUT yesterday I had some plain grilled chicken because I needed to eat and was out..IDK what to do because I feel soo hungry and today I had about 12 oz of egg drop soup. I'm currently taking in anywhere from 400-650 calories, and getting in about 75 g of protein in, obviously in shake form. I don't know what to do because I'm actually hungry. Any suggestions?
  19. It gets soo much better...I thought the same way when I was in your shoes..I'm 2 weeks post op and the fact that I lost almost 30 lbs already makes it all worth it!!
  20. Pain after surgery wasn't too bad, just sore. I would suggest walking right away it helped me.im 2 weeks out n I just started sleeping in my bed this weekend.
  21. I had 4 saltines last night, I'm only two weeks out. Do you think I'll be ok?
  22. I'm actually from rockland county, so close to nj. I had my surgery at englewood hospital, I was sleeved on 2/11. Would love to make some friends that know what Im going through.
