This is a psychological issue. You need to go and see your psyche. They'll give CBT strategies to help you overcome it.
You have formed a very unhealthy habit which you perpetuate every time you spit out the food.
If there is no physical reason as to why you're not swallowing the food - you're just not, because of what's in your head, then it is a learned behaviour and an incredibly destructive one.
    Get it sorted and quick.

Going to take off the kid gloves and be really frank here because I feel its really needed don’t want to upset you honestly I don’t.
Your developing an eating disorder, the fear of being sick and the pain it may and has caused you already is making you fearful of food.
You really have to overcome it now before it gets worse.
Fear is a really hard thing to overcome mentally your blocking yourself.
You can go 1 of 2 ways either go back to liquids and work forward again and maybe by the time your on food you will know your ok with the liquid you will actually swallow or you can start to try and conquer it now by swallowing 1 bite.
If you can’t do 2 that’s ok try next meal but work your way up and wait inbetween swallows pay attention to how your feeling if your feeling tight, restricted and any signs of pain just stop for 15mins relax.
Pre op I developed a fear of food due to my ibs the pain and bathroom results from just a few mouthfuls was hours worth so I ended up eating once a day and sometimes not at all I just couldn’t face it.
Post op I puked all the time and had extreme pain I had to go all the way back to broth stage and work forward again.
I still puke often now but I have a smaller sleeve I know that now so I don’t go by the average “should be this amount at this stage” guideline I go by me I can be chewing food and feel that tight feeling that wave of clammy ugh that washes over my body I stop dead and spit it out that’s my body saying DO NOT swallow that danger will robinson danger!!
Its ok not to eat as much as your told if you can’t you can add another small meal during the day to make up for it.
I was given 2 types of meal planning choices 3 meals and 2 Snacks a day plus shakes or 6 small meals a day no Snacks and shakes.< br />So breaking down the meal sizes and spreading them out throughout the day is fine as long as your not going over daily allowance of what you should be having.
Good luck honestly don’t let the fear overtake you.

The fact is, he lost 100 pound in a year. How on earth could that be considered a failure? He may not be at a normal BMI yet but he is far from the BMI he started at.
Doesn't matter why he did it, he took that step and no matter what one thinks of his politics, I'm sure he feeling much better. He has greatly increased the odds that he will be there longer for his wife and children.
Time will tell if he loses more or just keeps it off.
That statement applies to all of us.
Good luck to us ALL! Lord knows its not easy!

Why tell them anything? If someone asks simply tell them you were tending to a medical issue but I'm feeling much better, thanks! Leave it at that.
Just because someone asks, doesn't obligate you to answer. Keeping ones medical issues to oneself is your right and your choice and you are under no obligation to share it.
For me personally, the only people that know are my husband and one of my two sons. When people ask how much weight I've lost, I smile and say "a bunch." When they ask how I'm doing it, I tell them "I'm working really hard at it." That pretty much lets people know that this is not a topic up for discussion.
Your decision to improve your health will be the best gift you can give yourself! Congrats to you for taking that step!
Best of luck to you. You will love the new you!

The type of weight loss is not necessarily determined merely by the amount of weight a person has to or chooses to lose. Those who have said they are shocked that he chose the lapband to lose his weight I would question why you would be so shocked?
Many of us that chose the lapband did so to avoid the re-routing of our guts, and the life long malabsorptive issues that come along with many of the alternative WLS.
The lapband can be and is a very effective tool for weight loss and in my opinion a greater tool for life long weight maintenance over the other surgeries.
There are many today who are being banded on top of their gastric bypass because they have gained weight a year or more after their surgery and need further assistance. The same can be said for those who have the sleeve, and have a regain of weight over time.
The lapband is the only adjustable WLS that while it is made for life long implantation it may also be removed, reversed or revised to another surgery.
While it is true that weight loss is faster with the other surgeries, it may not be what the doctor ordered for Mr. Christie or others.
He's done an amazing job with his weight loss as far as I am concerned, and everything else (about the man or his political position) is irrelevant in this forum.

You can't. He is not ready. As painful as it may be for you to watch, you can't make him change. You can't preach him into change. He is an adult and he is simply not ready.
That said, you know that he is noticing what you are doing and how you are doing it. His passive aggressive comments and actions show you that. His weight and choices are on his mind as you can tell but he is not ready. Think back to your obese days. None of us made the decision to get healthy until we were ready. Some of us thought about it for a long time and the decision came slowly, some got ready via medical issues and scares but we became ready when we became ready and not before.
Your brother knows what he is eating and what his physical shape is. He knows what WLS is. I'm sure he already feels bad about himself, what obese person doesn't. When people remind us of it even in the context of being concerned, it can send him into an unhealthy binge. We have all been there.
Just be there for him and love him. Be a good example and only relate your experiences as they relate to you. Otherwise you will come across as judgmental and a reformed zealot. No one likes those. Think reformed smoker who preaches to everyone on the dangers of it. Really? Smoking is bad for you? I did NOT know that!…..said no smoker ever! You get my point….

When I told my boss that I was having surgery, I just left it at that. No extra details.
Some people that had asked when I was sore it was just abdominal surgery and they didn't ask any further. Nothing has been asked lately. I wish the weight would fall off quicker but I'm also glad it is slow as it doesn't seem hugely drastic for anyone to ask me.
