    chips

Umm....no I have not. But I will now! They sound so yummy! I have been buying them already roasted at Sprouts but I also have a bag of Trader Joe's that are just plain and not roasted yet. They are frozen. I have been meaning to try something with them and I am going to try your recipe today! Thank you!

    little nervous

So glad you could share it with us. Although my baby factory was shut down almost 30 years ago, I totally understand how nerve wracking it would be to make sure you are growing a healthy baby without putting on excess weight. You will just need to make sure what you are eating is going to benefit you and your baby. Then you won't have to worry about what the scale says. I know, easier said then done. Keep us updated on your progress, both of you!

I did a bad bad thing.

Try some sugar free pudding with protein powder added. Make the pudding as directed and add a scoop or two of protein powder. I like the unjury. It will add much needed protein and calories from the powder and milk. Make sure you blend it well and chill. My post op diet didn't allow for it till 3 weeks. I was on clear liquid for the first week then full liquids for two weeks after. It had to fall through a strainer to consume it but if you are allowed, it will help you get your protein.
  9. Isopure is the best protein you can take in. It will help with your healing and its just not that bad! Great luck to you! The first couple weeks are not what I would say fun, but it gets so much better! And, oh my, life is great after about a month!

    chips

Roasted edamame is my savior! Love the stuff! I am not a big fan of Protein Bars so the roasted edamame is perfect for me! I tend to travel a lot so they fill a need for my protein requirements. They can even be a Meal Replacement when I'm desperate! love, Love, LOVE the stuff!

    Carbonation

I can relate. I gave up my beloved Pellegrino Water. I absolutely adore it. I gave it up way back in February and have not looked back until....one day about a month ago I could not stop thinking about it, craving it and thinking about how much I loved it. Lasted all day long and I was not sure I was going to make it. Probably had it not been for the fact that I have not puked, slimed or otherwise since my March surgery, I may very well have caved in. Pretty sure it was the grace of God that got me through. I was fine the next day but jeez, it was a close one! Hang in there, you can do it! I was told it wouldn't be easy and sometimes its not.

    Alcohol?

Every surgeon seems to have a different opinion on the subject of alcohol consumption. My surgeon said 6 weeks. Some say 6 months and some are firm on never. I would highly recommend you do not do that right now. You are way too soon post op. Your stomach is not anywhere near healed and no good can come from that right now. You must concentrate on hydration this soon and wine will only hurt that goal.

I did a bad bad thing.

When I read your OP, my take was that you were having food issues due to the fact that you went into detail about the great BBQ place and how you didn't intend to eat both pieces, that's where I assumed food addiction. Then follow it up with 99% of the time you aren't hungry. My bad. Yes, you need Protein, try Isopure or Protein shakes or nectar Protein drinks. Also, your dizziness may be from dehydration or all the medication you are taking or a combination of all of it. I would highly recommend you stay away from solid Proteins this shortly after surgery. Good luck to you. I hope you will be ok.

    Worst diet ever?

Half a cantaloupe filled with cottage cheese 3X a day for 30 days. Nothing but cabbage and rice Soup for 30 days. Old school Optifast when it was just that gross, chalky drink. Only eating dinner. Shall I go on? The Optifast one is the one that makes me throw up a little in my mouth just thinking about it.

    little nervous

Holy smokes! Congratulations to both of you! What a happy event! Best wishes to you both and your expanding families!
  17. Sorry you are having this problem. It was far and away the biggest post op issue I had, and still struggle (no pun intended) If you are already clogged, it's not gonna be pretty but make sure you keep at it so you don't become impacted.
  18. Don't fall into the nothing solid in, nothing solid out myth. Even though you are not consuming solids, if you are taking in any Protein, you will need to move it out. I didn't even think about it till day 6 post op, by then it was too late. Keep in mind that the first few weeks post op, you will be taking in protein but little to no Fiber. Not a good combo for the other end. You may want to talk to your surgeons office about adding some miralax or MOM to your liquids. It can be a huge problem for a lot of people. Search the thread topics, you will find hundreds of threads regarding this. Good luck, you will love your sleeve!

    Do you use a straw?

This is one of those topics that get a lot of debate. Some say never, some say a few weeks or months, some are given straws in the hospital. I started using a straw about 3 weeks post op. I get more air without one than with, that's just me. Here's how I look at a lot of the different surgeon's instructions on everything from post op diet, some people are on soft foods from day one, some, it takes a month. Also, caffeine, alcohol, straws and grapes. Yes, some are told to avoid grapes. I don't even get that one at all. The list goes on. In my opinion, first our surgeons give advice and instructions based on medical fact, medical opinion, covering their asses and lastly serving the lowest common denominator. I think we need to take everything in and make the best decisions for us. Hope that helps.
  20. I just sucked it up and learned how to like grape Isopure. One bottle a day, one sip at a time and BAM! 40 grams of high quality Protein. Made getting the rest much easier. It's worth the sacrifice. You won't have to do it for long. Good luck!
  21. If you follow the yellow brick road, you DO get in to see the Wizard! Congrats!
  22. Be careful. Are you getting any Protein Shakes or sources of Protein yet? If you are, you need to poop. The first few weeks post op, you will be getting almost no Fiber but getting protein through shakes and drinks. When protein goes in, poop must come out. Constipation is real and it hurts. It was by far and away the most challenging and painful part of the process. You need to get some help before you become impacted. Not trying to scare you but don't let it happen to you.

    Clothing postop

I wore my hospital gown and had a pretty pink robe with me that my hubby put over my shoulders to walk in. I did so well that I got to go home the next day. Good luck to you!
  24. Yes, you should be able to have a sandwich. I look forward to that as well. I did not get sleeved to be on Atkins for the rest of my life. I believe in balanced. I am 6 months out but I have not had any bread or chips or rice, yet.I do not limit my carbs. I have chosen to not have the simple carbs till the end of the end of the year because they are a slippery slope for me. I eat lots of fruit and get carbs. It will have given me 9 months to learn to eat well and balanced. I will introduce them in January. There will be nothing off limits for me forever except carbonation. I know some people have it but I won't. Good luck!
