I had always been an athlete. I never thought I'd be overweight. In fact I thought it would be IMPOSSIBLE for me to become overweight. Well after we had our son (15 yrs. ago), the REAL weight gain started. Some of it had to do with my not exercising or moving about as much, but overall I mostly feel it was because of my lack of education and knowledge on calories, and how certain foods break down in our body and turns into fat. After gaining more and more weight, of course i became more interested in putting a stop to this nightmare. By the time I started understanding how certain foods effect the body, I soon realized that there were habits that I was going to have to break. I have been in a weight battle every since. I lost 30 lbs, gained it back and then some. After diets, attempts to excercise more and constantly yo- yoing with my weight gain, I decided to go and talk to my doctor about how I could take control back over my life. My doctor decided to run some test. After she reviewed my lab results she advisded me that if I didnt change my eating habits NOW that I would be a diabetic in the next 3-5 years. It was then that I started thinking about WLS. After during reseach on all the options offered in WLS, I decided to go with the Gastric Sleeve because it was a surgery that would allow me to make minimal changes to my body but receive the needed results. So with that being said, I have had 6 months to mentally prepare for this journey, and I AM READY!!!!!!!
