I have very thick hair and 4 months out. My hair is definitely falling out and every time I brush my hair... my heart sinks. I keep reminding myself that no one has ever posted they went bald. Mine is thinning not clumping. After surgery I started the Biotin, and I don't see where it has help the Hair loss, BUT I have awesome nails now

I have given up on consignment stores and selling clothes online - you never get much for them. Instead, I do all of my shopping at thrift shops (since I am continueing to lose weight) and then when they are too big, I donate them right back to the same store. It's a great way to watch the budget and do some good for the community at the same time!!

My surgery was on 2/4/13 and since then I have lost 76lbs and I feel wonderful. I am happier now than I have been in along time with myself. The only problem I have none of my clothes fit(which is a good thing). I was in a size 26 pants now I am in size 18 and they are getting loose!

I tell them that I am just eating less and exercising more. Very few people know and I like to keep it that way.

Yeah, I think it's personal preference really. I tell anyone, I am very proud that I was brave enough to do this and am taking control. I figure people judge you no matter what you do, so rather than them judging me for being heavy, let them judge me for doing something about it. If I really didn't want to tell someone, I probably would just say, "The Old Fashioned Way........A LOT of work!" Grins.......

It freaked me out a bit when it first started happening to me, even though my surgeon discussed it with me before surgery. Heck I even had to sign a form stating that I understood that this would happen!
But at 6 months (it started at 4 for me) it has definitely slowed down. I lost a lot! when I pull my hair back it feels so thin in my hands now
But I will say I'm the only one who really notices the thinness. But my family is sick of seeing my hair EVERYWHERE!
I told them if you are sick of my hair in the food I can always stop making dinner!

I have only told my hubby, son and a good friend. I havent told anyone in my family since they are totally against WLS, my mother's favorite thing to say is chew it and spit it out. My brother is a Dr. and my sister is a NUT for a large insurance co. and both say watch what you eat Sooooo I have basically gone underground so to speak lol and am going under renovation per say, more than just WLS. I will see them in 5-6 months and whether I tell them or not I havent decicded on as of yet or maybe I will let them read it in my memoirs. This is a very personal decision and I dont want any negative influence in my journey.

    Two reasons:
    1) Because people judge / shame. You might be tough enough to stand up against that kind of judgement but many of us aren't and it can be tiresome and humiliating to deal with that.
    2) And because of internal guilt. I am not proud that I've come to this, I know full well I should have not shoveled food in my face for the past 10 years, I could have done something when I was 20 pounds overweight, and I didn't.
I, for one, have told no one but my husband, and it'll stay that way. I'm not proud of it, I guess. But I'm doing what I need to before I end up diabetic or dead of a heart attack.
