  1. Other new sleevers are always surprised when I tell them that I had absolutely NO NAUSEA post-op. I think it's because my surgeon uses two medications pre-op. I am not recommending or providing medical advice, but if your surgeon offers these to you, they are worth the extra cost: Emend (1 dose lasts a week - usually used to treat nausea with chemo patients) Trans-Derm Scop patch (Something you usually see people on cruise ships wearing) I attribute this combination to providing me with a much easier recovery than some of my counterparts!

    plateaued?!?!

The stress might not be helping Are you strong enough to put the scale away and just trust the process? You've read it time and time again that the scale might not move but you are still burning fat. I've said this a million times, but I'll keep saying it - YOU ARE MORE THAN A NUMBER ON A SCALE. Stay strong, trust the process, be kind to yourself and I swear it will all work itself out!
  3. A "bad attitude" definitely should not be allow post-op... Especially since you're going to be looking and feeling great!

    salad

I'm 8 weeks out and can eat it in very small quantities. I noticed it comes out pretty much the same way it goes in, so I'm thinking although it is allowed on my nutritional plan, I will hold off for awhile longer!

    Psych Eval....

I've yet to hear of anyone failing the psych evaluation. People with horrible support systems and severe food addictions "pass" the eval all the time. I have a feeling you'll be just fine - and post-op, all these hoops will be worth it!!!
  6. Hey RX - you've lasted 6 weeks without all those empty snack foods - don't give them that much power! The old you is the poison, and that was left in the O.R. Stay strong and try to dig deep to find within yourself why you would even consider introducing these things into your diet (especially as a new sleever). You can do it!

BTW, if it were an Academy Award acceptance speech, my nipples would be SUPER hard!

    G R A T I T U D E

LOL!! I am just feeling the high of attending a business dinner at one of Seattle's top restaurants (Tom Douglas' Serious Pie) and was able to watch ppl drink fine wine, eat 9 varietes of brick oven pizzas and dessert and was completely content with my conversations and Water. I could have eaten, but I thought it all lacked Protein. So my very first thought was not that of deprivation or feeling left out. It was me putting me first and choosing (happily) to wait until I got home to eat something that would help me reach my nutrition goals for the day. It was empowering....for which, I am grateful!
  9. I think I can see my bougie now... it's been years!

whole foods and post op diet?

I'm doing so much better post-op. I don't ever think I'll get to the point where I have time to make my own yogurt, but I have made leaps and bounds towards a much cleaner diet. I'll be thrilled to get to the point to eat more raw vegetables - I miss them! #progressnotperfection

    Surgery TOMORROW!?!?

So excited for you!! Leave it all in the biohazard bin tomorrow (the pain, guilt, shame, excuses) - tomorrow is a new you and you can redefine that however you choose!!!

    Had. 4 saltines...ugh

Physically I'm sure you'll be fine. Mentally, ask yourself why you are already sabotaging your success and a healthy recovery. Why don't you believe you deserve either?

    When do you try bread?

7 weeks out - No bread, but I can do a very small low-carb/high fiber tortilla grilled/crispy as a quesadilla.

to mosh or not to mosh

I've encountered this situation twice post-op since my partner likes hardcore metal and punk rock (we went to a 4 hour concert last night and two of the bands were Lagwagon and Pennywise). I find that I'm alot more aware of things, people coming at me or toward my stomach. If its totally crazy, I'll make it towards the back of the crowd just to be safe. Enjoy and wear something fun!!!

    saltines?

I sang karoake with a nice lady named Melba. It was in a biker bar in San Bernardino. She got 86'd when she fell off the stool...
  16. VSGKirk

    saltines?

Can you live without them for a bit? I mean, right now your carb intake is super low and you might be in Ketosis burning lots of fat! The crackers could impact that, besides - you need protein more right now!

    Isopure

I am one of the rare ones that prefer IsoPure to anything else. You can buy just 1 at GNC and try it without investing a lot of $$$ - if you do, I would recommend the Alpine Punch.

Lookin' good! I like how your scissors are toddler level - I bet you're a fun dad!!!
  19. Have you tried the clear Isopure Protein drinks? They taste like Crystal Light with a slight whey aftertaste to me. You can get them at GNC. I say try one, and if you like it, yay! I also enjoyed the unjury chicken broth. Gotta get protein and liquid in, so might as well try them!

    Pre-Op Shave

I was disappointed they left my happy place alone. It's out of control really, haven't seen it in years - I would imagine it could have used a trim...jus' sayin'!

    Pre-Op Shave

My entire belly was shaved for me while I was knocked-out (I would have cried had I had to do it myself, LOL). No dressings either, they used surgical glue to close me up!
  22. Wow, I live with myself everyday, so I don't notice the weight loss too much (other than wearing smaller and smaller clothes). But this week alone there were two times when apparently OTHER people are noticing. Went to a local watering hole to watch RuPaul's drag race Monday night. After it was over, my 2 roommates were behind me about 5 paces and said some twink totally checked me out as I walked out. I was totally oblivious to this because I've been in a monogomous almost 9 year relationship (and I don't have eyes in the back of my head). Tonight, I was parking and coming into my building and a nice gentleman held the elevator for me. Not unusual except he was already in the elevator before I even parked my car! He saw me coming and held it for 1 or 2 minutes while I parked, unloaded my bags and walked to the foyer. Then he stared at me while making small talk. It was weird, but hey - glad to know people are noticing. Maybe I will start feeling less concientious when out socially with my man when I don't feel like there's such a huge disparity in our mass appeal!

    Gramps has still got it!

The elevator thing was a little creepy to be honest! LOL

    drinks

I gave up diet coke cold turkey on surgery day. I have been fine although water gets to be pretty boring. I like the Propel water and tonight I'm trying the Dasani Drops in my water, just to mix things up. It's tasty. I thought I'd really miss Diet Coke - not so much!
