k8ee got a reaction from UndercoverBariatricGal in Friend jealous or unsupportive, or both?
I have a friend exactly like it too. I can confirm she is jealous though because she has always been infatuated with hers and everyone else's weight but never did anything about it.
When I initially told her about the surgery I was going to have she was like "why would you do that?" I just told her it was my choice and she should respect my choices. Well...since my surgery (may 7) I've heard from her once. She was my best friend but I guess since she hasn't even bothered to see if I'm still alive then she really isn't on that pedestal that I had her on which is really disappointing after 17 years of friendship.
She did the same to one of our other friends who lost a significant amount of weight and constantly puts her down. I just don't like it and won't stand for it!
If you have a good friend they'll be there through thick and thin and share your good times and bad with you.

I was sleeve may 7 and have lost 8kg too. You're not the only one. I actually posted a thread because I was concerned too but after 20+ responses we are not alone:)
As I mention in my thread; on this this forum, people usually post amazing weight loss stories or really bad stories but what about us in-betweeners?!?!

I'm nearly 4 weeks post op and on soft food. I have been having a lot of trouble with nausea. I spoke to my surgeon about it and he said it was due to acid in my stomach. I'm on nexium for this but I'm allowed to use gaviscon before each meal to help with this. And I'm happy to say it has!! Finally! Sorry I'm a little excited!
I just are some tuna and crackers and felt fine! And, the best part about it was there was 15g of Protein in it!

k8ee reacted to bmbrush413 in how is your face looks like after surgery?
Here's my before (1 week preop) and after (8 weeks postop, down 45 lbs). I couldn't believe the difference in my face! The girl who does my nails said (in her broken Korean/English) "No lose more face! You not going to have any face left!"

I'm almost two months out, and that's been my pace nearly the the entire time. I'm a revision (band to sleeve), and it's exactly what my surgeon predicted, with me staying between 600-800 cals most days.
Everyone's body is different. Your loss may speed up, it may not. The key is to stick with it, and avoid comparing yourself to others, IME.

Yes correct about the fluids too ^^^
I had the same problem with feeling like I could eat an entire pizza but its just the liquid phase. It can also be associated with acid in your stomach. Are you taking meds for acid? This can make you think you are hungry too!
Believe me when you get to puréed foods you will be thinking how the hell am I going to fit this in!!!

That must be do exciting for you. I have lost 6kg which is 13lb. I'm pretty happy with that do far. I'm still struggling with getting all my Protein in though. I'm current getting about 40g Protein a day. I find I'm having to have every meal now with high protein foods, but ill get there. I'm just worried about my hair!!

So I've been on puréed food since yesterday and its going quite well though tonight I had a veggie mash and I think the consistency was too thick as I have had terrible pains in my left side of my abdomen since eating it. I didn't over eat but I think I need to purée it instead of mash it ( even though I'm told otherwise)!.
Anyway, lesson learnt and try again tomorrow.
I might just add too that the hunger pangs aren't as bad through this phase.

So I've been at this for 5 months now. I am the one doing the work and I am the one working hard and eating well and sucking down Water so, pardon me.. I get to to express what I feel because they are my feelings and I won't have them discounted. if VST is not the ONE place a person can speak openly without judgement about their weight loss, then there must not be that place in existence. Not one person said they'd stopped living life and had given up on WLS working for them. if anything, we are extra vigilant and work VERY hard to make sure WE aren't the cause of our slow(er than expected) loss.
I am snappy, yep. Cause I am tired of being told how to feel about this. I will freely emote about how I feel because it's either going to come out in words or I am going to shove some chips into my mouth. If that's an issue, then maybe the Slowish losers thread isn't a place to hang out.

Hi. I am a diabetic and I'm not taking my meds either. I spoke to my dr about it and he said to just monitor it for two weeks then see if you still need it. Don't forget, surgery, the meds and your mental state all put stress on your body which can increase the levels.
Give your body time to heal and speak to your dr about it.
I was more worried that if I did have my insulin that I would have a hypo!

I bought the Atkins shakes that are ready to drink. They taste pretty good. I tried to add unflavored protien to chicken broth but it didn't work out. I think I added too much and then it got too hot and curdled. I think I should have added it after I heated the broth, not before. I am still really swollen and can't even fit into my fat jeans. I was down two pounds yesterday. Today is day 7. One day at time...

I can't believe after nearly 2 and a half years living with the lap band as a failure that my big day has finally arrived to get my VSG done.
My big day is tomorrow and I'm so ready for my new life changes ahead.
This day has crept up quickly but I'm sure everything will be fine. I already have my food (liquid) prepped for when I get home.
    Bring it on!

I hate to be the buzz kill but I would be super careful with alcohol. I would kick soda and avoid alcohol until you have reached your goal. I know, I know. No fun.
When I had my lapband, I was drinking a month after. Totally sabotaged my weight loss and honestly replaced food for a while. Now with my revision I plan on avoiding alcohol, if I go out I plan on ordering Water with lemon- or a virgin drink. A few sips can turn into a whole drink, then 2 drinks...
Sounds boring and will be boring, but let me tell you NOTHING sucks more than letting alcohol slow your weight loss. Take advantage of this stage of your surgery, in the start is when you can really drop some serious weight. I have worked in Bariatrics for over 6 years, I've seen hundreds of patients ruin their surgery because of alcohol choices.
The last thing you want to do is make alcohol apart of your journey and make it seem "normal", get use to your new life alcohol free, after 9+months (or reaching your goal) of KNOWING how your new stomach works start introducing alcohol.
