I was on topomax, relpax, and fioricet for migraines before surgery and still getting debilitating migraines 3 of 4 weeks. I am 5 weeks out and happy to say that I haven't had any migraines since surgery!

Last Supper Syndrome?
I knew about my surgery the beginning of January but was scheduled for the end of March. I spent 3 months basically mourning food. I gained 7 lbs doing so! i am now 4.5 weeks out and embracing my sleeve and all i has done for me! I now each much healthier, I no longer drink gallons upon gallons of Dr Pepper, and as a result I have more energy, no migraines, and have lost 29 lbs! Each person approaches the surgery differently but just know that you will be able to eat small amounts of all your favorite foods again!

sleevers in Chicago southland
Wishing you both luck on your upcoming surgeries! I am from Huntley and had my surgery at Good Shepherd in Barrington on March 20, 2013. I'll be honest I almost rescheduled my surgery due to fear and anxiety. I am now 4.5 weeks out and and down 28 lbs since surgery. The first couple days out for me were rough but has gotten better everyday. I can eat almost anything.

Big Baby
My first 4 days were awful. Day 5 was better but not normal. I am now 3.5 weeks out and feel normal. Those 4 days for me were rough. Just remember each day slowly gets better. Soon it will just be a memory.

Gastric Sleeve Pre-Op Question
It definitely depends on your dr and insurance requirements. I had my first appt Jan 4th was approved Jan 6th and could have been sleeved the week of Valentine's day. I pushed my surgery out until March 20th by my own choice.

- March 20th sleevers
- Feels like a hit by a bus
I was sleeved on March 25th. My first 4 days were rough like that. It does get better! I hardly have any pain and I have been meeting my goals.- Is anyone sorry?
- TOMORROW's the BIG DAY!
I had surgery this last Wednesday. I will tell you I called Tuesday night and was debating cancelling my surgery. I didn't. Day 1 I slept most of the day but walked anytime I was up. Day 2 I slept on and off and walked. Day 3 I was holding down fluids and still walking. When people say each day gets better they aren't lying its the truth. You will be happy you have commited to changing your life! I had a lot of apprehension prior to surgery but don't regret it now. Each day is getting easier! Good luck to those of you having surgery soon!- Any March Sleevers?
- Any March Sleevers?
I was sleeved around 12:30 today and so far I am feeling good. Haven't used much pain medication. Only drawback is I can't sleep. Its 1:04 am and I'm wide awake!- Mirena IUD ?
I found out during preop testing that I was pregnant. I have had mirena for 13 months. I ended up having a miscarriage due to the Mirena but I am that 1%.- BCBS of IL. Approved me!
Congrats!! I too had good luck with BCBS IL approving quickly. Where are yoy having your sleeve done?- Overwhelmed by pre-op test results!
Wow I didn't expect so many responses so quickly! Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I have not lost any weight. I have actually gained some weight thanks to my mind going through a food funeral! The gyno on Monday confirmed that my IUD is in the correct place and said I'm just the .01% that birth control is not effective. We are going to start using a back up method since I want to be healthy and healed prior to getting pregnant again.- Overwhelmed by pre-op test results!
Well I have been completing my pre-op testing for my surgery scheduled 3/20/13. Last Saturday I went for my chest x-ray, gall bladder ultrasound, EKG and Lab work. Well Monday I receive a call from the surgeons office. I was thinking it was just to confirm they received all the results and everything looks good or maybe some of my levels are high or low. I listen to the voicemail and it's my actual surgeon calling!! Not his assistant, not a nurse the actual surgeon! I call back immediately worried about what he could say. He tells me my vitamin D is low (ok no biggie!) and my blood test says I'm PREGNANT.....what!?!?!? I have an IUD how could I be pregnant! I have had my TOM for the last 11 days!! Well ironically I had an appt with my gyno for my annual appt that same evening she did an ultrasound and I was in fact pregnant but miscarried......my emotions have been all over the place this week. I have been going for blood tests every 48 hours until my levels come back to normal. I finally received the call a few minutes ago that my surgery is still a go. I am happy that it's a go but my emotions are still all over the place.....how do I get pregnant on birth control.....how do I miscarry and not even know I'm pregnant....I wish I would have never known! Sorry to vent but only my husband knows I'm having this surgery so I feel lonely like I have nobody to talk to!- sleevers in Chicago southland
Hi, I'm just outside of Huntley, not sure where you are. Centegra and St Alexius offer them. When is your surgery?- Power Aid Zero
It seems like most people drink it. I haven't tried the Vitamin Water Zero but LOVE mixed berry (Blue) Powerade Zero. I also really like propel flavored water.- OMG......Approved and Nervous
Yay Congrats! I have BCBS of Illinois too and was approved so fast. Where are you having surgery at?- Prevent excess skin
Does anybody know if compression garments work to help reduce the excess skin? I know after pregnancy some recommend a compression garment for your stomach to help it return to it's pre-pregnancy form. I have read cardio and hydration help. Both Water intake and lotion hydration help. - Can't Eat Today
