  1. So Today I hit 149.2 lbs. According to my BMI I am NORMAL! I had surgery March 20, 2013 and weighed in at 240 lbs. I have chosen to only tell 2 people. My husband and sister. So when I posted a picture this week it created quite a buzz. I have lost 91 lbs in 7 months and feel better then ever. I could not ask for a better change in my life I can run and play with my son and not get tired. I have been so blessed to have had an easy recovery and a sleeve of steel. I have attached a picture from February 2013 and from this week.
  2. I am from Huntley, 28, with one son who will be 2 next month. I am almost 7 months post op.
  3. Is your Aetna ***? I have *** and had to get a referral from my PCP then approval from the surgeon with proof of medical necessity. Once they approved it went to my medical group to be approved then onto insurance.
  4. I laid gauze between my spanx and the incisions to stop any chance of rubbing but was wearing them by 2 weeks out.
  5. I just want to say Congrats. There are a few youtubers who are currently pregnant you can follow them to see. I am still waiting for my 1 year to start trying.
  6. LOL I have lost an Irish Setter, a human brain, and a guinea pig 74 lbs total. That's cute! Congrats on your weightloss.
  7. I can't speak for somebody with complications but I had a text book surgery. Surgery was on Wednesday afternoon. I stayed in the hospital until Friday evening. I was up for a car ride on Sunday. I spent the whole next week with help to care for my 15 month old son. By the following Monday I was pretty much back to normal, driving, taking care of my son by myself. I went back to work exactly 2 weeks after surgery.
  8. Hey Ladies, I am from Huntley. I had sleeve surgery 3/20/13. Good luck to all on your journey!
  9. I have BCBS IL and was approved at 39.5 BMI with no other health issues. I have been seeing the same physician for a year now and gained 10 lbs over that year to get to the 39.5. Good Luck
  10. I'm in the NW Suburbs and had surgery 3/20/13 at Advocate Good Shepherd. Good luck to those going through upcoming surgery!
  11. Water weight fluctuates. I know its easier said then done but try not to weight yourself everyday. Also at 2 weeks our you lost 14 lbs since surgery that is 7 lbs a week! Each and every lb is a victory. The weight will come off as long as you keep following your doctors/NUT guidelines. Did you just start purees or full liquids?
  12. Each sleeve size not only depends on the bougie size the doctor uses but also how tight the doctor makes the staple line to the bougie. Some create a sleeve tight to the size of the bougie and others loosely. It all depends on the doctor and the patient.
  13. When did you feel thinner? I felt thinner after about 40 lbs. I had to put pictures side by side to see the comparison. I looked in the mirror and still saw the same person. When did you buy new clothing? I was about 2 months out before i bought a new pair of pants. And I bought a smaller size by chance. I was wearing a size 16 from LB. I went to NY & Co and was looking for a size 16 jean. All they had was a 14 & 18. I took both in the fitting room and ironically the size 14 fit so I didn't even try the size 18! This weekend I bought a size 12 thinking it wouldn't fit....I got home and it fits! When did you start changing sizes? See above When did you know to get rid of clothing? I still haven't gotten rid of any clothing. I guess the fat girl in my thinks this diet will fail and i will still need the clothes even though I am working so hard... My mentality has obviously not changed about myself eventhough i look at everything else differently. Just try and if a new size doesn't fit try again in a week or two
  14. I got pregnant on Mirena. I read after your next cycle. I too think it was in the patient packet.
  15. Maybe the vitamins are tough on your new tummy. Maybe try taking them after breakfast? I take mine before bed. That's just the routine I started long before my sleeve, most vitamins upset my stomach before surgery if i hadn't eaten before taking them.
  16. Hey ProudMama. I am only 28 and have an 18 month old son. I started my journey at 240 lbs and have most of the same story as you! I had high blood pressure and family history of diabetes and heart disease. I almost cancelled my surgery because I was scared. I am just over 2 months out and so glad i made this decision. I go to a restaurant and order an entire meal but its more like 4+meals for me. i don't miss food like I thought I would. As far as pain everybody is different I had good pain meds for 4 days then switched to childrens tylenol. i have no opinions regarding the trip to Mexico as I did not make that journey. As far as if it's right for you, that is something you have to answer
  17. I am 9.5 weeks post op. I am down 42 lbs since surgery. My first 5 days were rough but its been smooth sailing since. Time did fly them seemed to stopped but it will fly post op
  18. Hey ladies, I am about an hour west of Chicago. Just wanted to pop in and say Good Luck! I cant imagine my life any other way now. This was the best decision i ever made!
  19. I have BCBS Illinois and was approved in 24 hours.
  20. Happy Dance! I hit 199 this morning! Now onto my next goal....179 no longer obese! HW 247 SW 240 Currently 199 I will take the 40 lb weight loss in 8.5 weeks!
  21. The last 2 months haven't been easy but I'm still happy with my decision. 39 lbs down and 1.6 lbs to onderland! I was sleeved 3/20.
  22. I wasn't cleared for crackers until I was 4 weeks out. I would call your dr or nut and ask,
  23. I had no preop diet and only did clear liquids for 24 hours prior. My surgery went well, no complications or issues. good luck to you!
  24. I have a 17 month old. I had surgery on a Wednesday and was out of the hospital Friday. I had help the entire week after and then was fine!
  25. I'm going to be honest but don't want to scare you. I didn't have pain the way I thought I would. My actual incisions were what hurt. Not awful but pretty uncomfortable. Plus being in the hospital made me so tired. I was sleeved on a Wednesday, out of the hospital on Friday and was pretty run down on Saturday. By Sunday I was much better and everyday from there was better. I also didn't take any pain med other then Tylenol. I know what your feeling as I have a 17 month old and was worried about recovery time. I am now 5.5 weeks out and feel pretty much like I did preop except quite a bit less weight! Good luck with your surgery!
