Feeling not so awesome, 4 weeks post-op!

In addition to my last post, I would like to say how nice it is to have a group of people that are so willing to support each other. In ny case I don't feel like my doctor prepared me in any way for the mental and emotional struggles of this surgery. I was complaining to a friend about how I've been feeling and they literally said "well this is what you wanted, what did you expect". Well honestly I didn't know my life would be such an uphill battle like this. All in all I'm glad I can turn to this group for supportive listening and conversation!

Did your doctor recommend which vitamins to add to your multi vitamin? Or how did you decide what to add? My day-to-day routine is even hard for me to get through. Some days I just have an over all feeling of not being healthy and not being myself. I feel like I have no control over what my body is doing and feeling. This is especially frustrating for me now that I am going back to a job that I loved before the surgery, now every second of every task seems to suck the life out of me.

I am taking a multi vitamin but not b12. I think the bp may be an issue, also I'm not able to get in a full 64 oz, maybe 1/2-2/3 of that.

My doctor didn't check my blood sugar because I do so semi-regularly anyway because I tend to have low sugar levels. And during my visit my blood pressure was normal. It is possible I need to be drinking more Water though. I am glad to hear 400 calories is about normal. Thanks for that tidbit! I am going to start tracking my food and water and see if I have any issues there.
  5. So I am 4 weeks post-op and am still not feeling well. Im not sure what the exact issue is but I'm tired of not feeling well. The first issue is I have a lot of dizziness when I stand up too fast. I have had one extreme episode when I stood up and the dizziness set in, my ears were ringing so loud I couldn't hear my husband and he had to grab me and get me back to the couch because I almost fell over. Somedays this isn't an issue, sometimes its extremely scary. My doctor said to drink gatorade and check my blood sugars regularly. Neither of these things are the issue. The second issue is (possibly) not being able to eat enough. I have a doctors appt next week to go over this but I rarely ever feel hungry. I don't have an exact calorie intake but I would guess around 400 calories is what I am eating a day at most. My husband thinks I am not getting enough nutrition. I get nauseous quite often and will throw up plain Water sometimes. I have muscle weakness and get tired very easily. I am not working out yet. I guess my question is - is all the normal so early after surgery? Do I need to be eating more calories? Is it just a matter of time before I feel better? Thanks for reading!

    Need some help and support!

Thank you so much for those who gave supportive comments. Even though my food choices were poor yesterday it was more a situation of poor planning. My husband and I had to stop at a friends birthday BBQ and I had not brought any of my shakes or soups. I'm feeling fine today but much more aware of the nutritional path I need to be on. I really scared myself and don't want to sabotage all my hard work again.
  7. Please don't judge me and my many issues. I had my sleeve on June 5th and am 4 days post op. I'm worried that I have really screwed up today. I was so unsatisfied with my liquids today that I had 4 chips that I chewed and chewed and a shrimp that I did the same with. I have felt fine until sitting on the couch this evening I have dull pain in my abdomen and feeling of bloating. I am worried that I have screwed something up by not sticking to the liquids. My husband thinks I am being overly worried, I just don't know.
  8. I had my first appt with my surgeon today and I am SO happy with her! She was friendly and direct and assertive. She wasted no time. My insurance requires 6 months of professionally managed weightloss before surgery. My surgeon informed me today that at three months she is filing an appeal with my insurance to have them cut it from 6 months to as soon as possible. She said I'm the perfect canidate and there is no reason for them to hold me back. I felt as if she was fighting for me and I hadn't even asked her too! Im excited and confident with my decision.
  9. I would LOVE to see before and after pictures of women with similar stats to mine. I am roughly 5'2" and 218. I would love to lose about 100 lbs after my surgery. I love seeing pictures, so exciting!! Can't wait to have my surgery!

    Recovery?

Was it easy to do light housework right away? My husband works out of town most of the time so I wonder if I will need a friend to stay with me.

    Recovery?

I was curious how long most of you spent in the hospital after surgery? How long before you went back to work?

    So anxious!

That's so good to hear. I hope they do go fast! I changed from the lap band to the sleeve also.
