  1. What do you consider to be a stall? How far along are you in your sleeve journey and how many stalls have you had so far? When did you have them? How long did they last? What managed to "break" them for you? I am 11 weeks post op and think I've been in my first official stall. In the last 3 weeks I have only lost a single pound. I am working out at least 3 days a week, am getting about 65-70 gm Protein and over 64 oz Water. I'm not freaking out yet, am still losing inches, but wondering how long these things last and if there is anything I can do to break the stall quicker. Since I am a self-professed data ***** here are all my stats from preop to now including measurements, maybe some of y'all will relate: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtW90JQQyIegdG1wZFpQemNDZTkxR1lodDRzdnoyaEE#gid=0

    Any Sacramento area sleevers?

I'm in Folsom! About to leave the country for a few months though. If there was a meetup in late summer I'd be down to attend.
  3. I'm 9 weeks post op and they are looking much better, but still look obviously like I was cut in 5 places. Would love to wear a two piece by summer, but it's not going to look pretty at the current rate. For all y'all who are further along than me, how long did it take for the to be not so obvious?
  4. Since I know each doc is different and I am curious - what did your doc or nutritionist tell you the rules are about drinking before/after eating? For the record mine said stop 15 minutes prior and do not resume until 60 minutes after the last bite is taken. My nutritionist also said that if I have a mushy food like yogurt, pudding, applesauce I don't have to follow the liquid rules.
  5. I just realized that I'm only 3 weeks into sleevedom and I've already lost a quarter of my excess weight and the inches are flying off. Best part is that I have SOOOO much energy. My toddler wakes me up around 5:30am and I'm up, moving about, walking 3-4 miles daily and living like a normal high energy person chasing a mini Tasmanian Devil until I pass out around 11pm. I am easily meeting my daily Protein and liquid goals. Life is good. Since I am a self-professed datawhore, I've been diligently tracking all my stats including measurements weekly since Jan 22nd, a week before my surgery. If you're curious or nosy (or both) - here they are: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtW90JQQyIegdG1wZFpQemNDZTkxR1lodDRzdnoyaEE. Sleevie-poo, I think I love you already.
  6. That's fantastic, happy discharge Erp. May the weight roll off of you without any complications!
  7. I had a single vomiting episode and I'm pretty sure that was because I drank a mug of herbal tea too fast (tmi, but at least it was raspberry tea coming up instead of something worse!). I also get the stuck feeling in my throat if I eat too fast. Honestly I think it's my new full signal. Although, if you're in any way concerned you have a stricture, I highly recommend checking it out with your surgeon, just in case.
  8. Thank you all! Rbott, I haven't hit any plateaus yet. My NUT said that the best way to avoid them is to vary my diet almost every day in addition to hitting Protein and liquid goals which I have been trying to do. I'm not registering a loss every single day, but at least every 3 days I definitely do. (Yes, I weigh myself daily ) I hope whatever stall you're in breaks sooner rather than later!
  9. I'm only 5'5'', but I've always managed to carry my weight pretty well. Actually the anesthesiologist on the day of surgery asked me why I was getting the surgery done in the first place because "you don't look like you need it." So I'm just hoping for a happy journey down to skinnytown. Glad to be of service, feel free to ask questions anytime.
  10. You will do great, it will all be worth it. Honestly the worse thing for me was coming off the general anesthesia meds - pretty bad nausea for 48 hours, but after that I was walking a half hour to an hour a day, drinking 64 oz and eating between 60 - 80oz Protein. I wish you very much luck!
  11. Nope, not a huge amount. Honestly the thinnest I ever was and I looked DAMN good at that weight is 170. The doc expects me to easily get to 150. I am 216 as of this morning and I was 238 before I started my preop diet on Jan 22nd. Since I'm OCD and track everything - here are my weekly stats since then if you're curious: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtW90JQQyIegdG1wZFpQemNDZTkxR1lodDRzdnoyaEE. The most awesome is the craaazy loss of inches. For fun I measured my waist this morning and since Wednesday I've lost another inch off my waist! It's completely and utterly worth it.
  12. Oh hon, you will be way more than a few pounds down. I didn't start out all that high and the weight is flying off of me. You'll do great!

    How long until "real" food?

I'm a huge foodie too, and only 2.5 weeks postop, but I'm confident that I get to join the foodie circle again soon minus the fixation on starchy carbs. I'm looking forward to ahi, carpaccio, salmon oh so many ways, and tiny bites of other things. I want to go back to fancy restaurants with tiny sleeve sized portions of amazingness and enjoy. Love to hear from other foodies!
  14. I'm the same as delta girl. I'm not even two weeks out yet and today I walked 4 miles. On top of what she said make sure you're staying hydrated and meeting your Protein goals. I say go for it!

Ideas to flavor plain Greek yogurt

I know this sounds funny, but being that I'm Middle Eastern/Mediterranean, I like my yogurt savory. I've added salt, pepper, dried dill, dried mint and grated pickle or cucumber for a tzatziki-ish concoction. It's absolutely delicious.
  16. My NUT says hit 75gm protien and 64oz fluids a day. Eat Protein first and then veggies. Then if there is room fruit. Then, very rarely starchy carbs. Then be sure you're getting at minimum 30 minutes of exercise a day, if not ideally an hour. I asked her about long plateaus and she said that in her experience they are often caused by you eating or exercising in almost exactly the same way for an extended period of time. That your body just adjusts and the scale, or your inches, don't move. She said that you need to mix it up, all the time while sticking almost religiously to the hitting 75gm protein and 64oz fluids. So, though I haven't gotten there yet myself I wanted to share since I had just talked with my NUT about the topic. Good luck and I hope the scale starts moving for you!
  17. I'm two and a half weeks out and have eaten out quite a few times since I'm a social butterfly and don't want to miss out just because I have a tiny stomach now. I usually order eggs (really, an egg), oatmeal, soup (even though it may be fattening), non-fried soft fish, side of refried beans (if lowfat) and that's about it so far. I'm sure as time goes on my menu options will expand, but at only 2.5 weeks it's enough to make me feel social! I'm curious to hear what others have to say...
  18. Just curious what size that would put me at since it is my goal and my surgeon says that I'll easily get there in the next 6 months. For the record right this second I'm 218 lbs, not as fit as I want to be, and am comfortably wearing a size 16. I can't even imagine!
  19. What an awesome website, thank you for sharing Nikki!

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

I was sleeved on 1/30 and feel normal. Walk LOTS and am able to easily get in my protein, fluids and vitamins. I have lost 13 lbs in 14 days and countless inches so I have nothing to complain about. Since I'm a self-diagnosed datawhore here is the nitty gritty of my weight/inches/size loss on a weekly basis if you're curious: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtW90JQQyIegdG1wZFpQemNDZTkxR1lodDRzdnoyaEE&usp=sharing
  21. I know there are PLENTY of stalls to look forward to, including the infamous 3 week one, but here I am one week post op this last Wednesday and the scale hasn't budged since that day. I started mushies yesterday if that makes any difference whatsoever (and who would have thought mashed canned salmon would taste so heavenly!). I weighed 231 prior to surgery and weighed 222 on Wednesday and have been that weight since.... I'm meeting all my liquid and protein goals and walk a minimum of a half hour a day (and one day when I felt like an overachiever I walked close to 2.5).
  22. I lost 90 lbs before and kept it off for a year and a half (before I got pregnant) and I swear my scale obsessiveness helped me keep it off! I started getting lax when I got pregnant in fear that I would become "preggorexic" and instead I very much fell off the wagon. So being a bit scale obsessive even though I think it might be unrealistic given that I'm only 10 days postop, right? And yes, the only weight that counts, in the words of my dear friend, is "first thing in the morning, buck naked, after taking a poop."
  23. Haaa!! Okay. Hi, my name is Roxanne and I'm a scale addict. I should have my husband hide it. Yeah, the bloated torn up belly is uber sexay right now, but at least the swelling is going down quite a bit! Thank you for the reality check.
  24. You are not alone. I burp like a frat boy. Still, at 10 days postop it's significantly improved. I hope it'll get better and better as time goes on. Good luck! And it can be worse, right? Can you imagine if we were farting this much instead of burping?
  25. In my opinion the c-section was far worse than the sleeve. I didn't take pain meds for the c-section after 4 days and I stopped pain meds for the sleeve 36 hours after surgery. It's still sore, but nowhere near what I was with the c-section.
