I am Jeanne, an RN for 18 years. Currently working in Amb surgery for Urology doing lithotripsy and prostate procedures. Had my sleeve in Dec 2012 at age 49. This was the best thing I have done for my health. Just turned 50 but I feel like I am 30. Exercise is now my new addiction. Down 58 lbs, and am a happy camper. I never have been able to lose weight like this before. No doubt you must be determined and follow the plan but it has been amazing for me.

So the hospital I will be getting my sleeve is the one I worked at for 7 years. I haven't worked there in about three years but mist everyone is still there. The bariatric floor combined with my old unit. Digestive disease. I am very uneasy about seeing all my old coworkers and them knowing about it. Im still friends on Facebook with many of them. What to do?

I am 8 days out and today is a great day! I look forward to each day and small Victories 1 day 1 victory at a time. Like today I was out Shopping no real fatigue.
I am learning to listen to my body. Example, My sleeve dose not like tap Water so I m using bottled water. Goes down better and no pain. My sleeve also does not like sweet Protein Drinks even Premier Protein this week. So back to Syntrax and my sleeve tolerated it, Victory! Each day is getting better and better. I'm learning and loving my sleeve. Nurses, nursing students and nursing assistants you are all Angels and VIP s. Congrats and Good luck.

I'm a nursing student and a nursing assistant. I have three semester left and I've been an aide for 10 years I also take care of my 88yo Gramma who lives with me. All thus caretaking has made me stressed. All the stress has left me very heavy. I am having my surgery in April, just waiting for approval. Dr said I should no problem. Did I mention I have a toddler too! Haha Started pre-op diet today, no problems so far. Getting super excited and mentally ready for the surgery. I live in West Michigan and can't be happier with the program so far. Everything is expensive so money worries me but its worth it. Love the thread!

Hi! I've been an RN for 18 years...having worked ICU and now pediatrics in a group practice. I was always active...hiking, camping, skiing.....and then not so much. I am 47 and over 100# what I should be Tried so many diets etc. I am totally overwhelmed. I've lost the same 20# more times than I can count. I meet with my surgeon in 2 days and just want to start what I pray will be a new chance at the life I miss. Good luck to you all who are farther ahead in your journey! I hope we can all be there for each other!

It is 7:15 here in Mexico. I am patiently waiting for my surgery to begin. I am a little freaked out that they still span on doing my surgery so late but I guess it is not usual here. I am gowned, IV started, EKG done, and lab drawn. They drew a CBC,cmp and HIV. They gave me rocephin IV push and I almost immediately vomited. I don't have a allergy to it but I guess since it was pushed instead of piggy backed I got sick. I am not just waiting for them to come get me. I am extremely tired and getting hungry from being npo all day. I'm so glad my friend who is also a RN is here with me. They do things a little differently here but nothing too alarming. I sure wish they would let me wear some underwear.

Hi guys! I am a critical care RN in the Orlando area. Been a nurse since 1996, seems like just yesterday. The knowledge of what can happen in the long run from obesity is why i am going forward with the sleeve, that is more scary to me than the idea of complications from this surgery. I am waiting for the last paperwork to come in before they can submit to insurance.

I am a nurse at a big academic medical center. I have an administrative position - I was sleeved 9/10/12 and have 13 lbs to lose before I am at my goal.
I haven't had any complications and am very happy with my decision to have the sleeve.

Well ladies wish me well, I have surgery on the am. Luckily I am the first case, I have been extremely anxious and excited.

I'm a RN of 17 years living 90 min south of Chicago . I've worked ,Med-Surg,ICU,&Outpatient .Im getting sleeved in 2 days !!!3-06-13... So far , third day of Clear Liquids , doing well !!! Down 8# of Fluid !!! Looking so forward to this wonderful tool to help me bring control in my eating habits and return to life !!!!! I'm been missing out as life has been passing me by as I've had some much pain . I also need bilateral knee replacements ! So this weight must come off and stay off !!! Praise God - I feel this is right where I'm too be !!!

Had my surgery Wednesday. Home today feeling better than I expected drinking fluids walking. It was a very good experience.
Congrats nurse Ghana we sure did deserve it!

Back again after a bit of an absence...had my sleeve with Dr. pompa in Tijuana on Jan. 7 and I am feeling fantastic! Started this process at 202 lbs. and currently at 169 - haven't seen this number on the scale for a few years! I think I have had a relatively uneventful recovery, am currently working on soft foods etc. Dr. pompa advocates a slower progression with diet, spent 2 weeks on clears until able to easily take in 2 litres or more a day, then 2 weeks on full fluids with Protein shales, then soft foods etc. I think that is the way to go...did not feel hungry or deprived until about the 1 month mark, then started feeling a little hungry in the a.m. I took a little more than 6 weeks off work and am glad I did. Probably could have gone back after 4 or 5 but that would have been pushing it. Take the time off, nurses - we've earned it. First day back to work (dialysis) I found very tiring but just kept my drink bottle close and sipped every chance I got.
