    Dizzy

I'm dizzy too. I was on a very low calorie diet several years ago that is similar to what I eat now. When I was dizzy on that diet (medically supervised) they gave me potassium. I'm trying that at the moment. I think it is electrolyte related.

    Dr. Garcia vs. Dr. Aceves?

Sorry - i was a virgin sleeve - no revision. The additional cost makes sense I guess based on that. Good luck!

    Dr. Garcia vs. Dr. Aceves?

FYI I was sleeved 3 weeks ago and it was $8750 - not $10,500. I understand that may still be out of reach but thought I'd share. I booked a couple of months before so maybe his prices went up. I'm not sure. He does have a financing company he works with I believe.

    Dr. Garcia vs. Dr. Aceves?

Dr Acceves did my sleeve three weeks ago. He was amazing, the care was amazing and dr. Campos who is the dr. In charge of aftercare was amazing. One of the doctors was in to see me every 4-6 hours for the entire time. They did tests and came in over the weekend - unheard of elsewhere. If I used the call button a nurse was there in less than a minute every time. I was happy for the three days in the hospital. I was textbook perfect in terms of recovery, walking the evening after surgery and able to keep liquids down easily. That said I would not have wanted any less time in the hospital. I would have been fine but the extra day was good and I certainly could not have gone shopping or wandering that day. It really is major surgery and I wouldn't have had the energy. I can't recommend him highly enough.
  5. Hi everyone, thanks for the words of encouragement. I woke up 2lbs down this morning so hopefully this is the end of the stall. Fingers crossed!
  6. Hi, I need some help. I was sleeved on April 12th. I was 212 before surgery was 204 the day I got home from the hospital. Since then I've only lost 2 lbs and it has been a week since I've lost anything. I'm getting all my liquid and Protein. In addition to Protein powder shakes I'm eating yogurt, milk with cocoa, lots of Jello, chicken broth, lentil Soup, refrained Beans, cottage cheese, no sugar My calories are around 500-600 generally though today I'm closer to 800, protein 60-70, carbs around 50g of carbs. I know a stall is typical at 3 weeks but at week 1.5? What am I doing wrong. My dr.s diet doesn't suggest any meat until solid foods and I have an egg allergy so it can be difficult to keep the carbs low. I have absolutely no restriction at this point but I understand that is normal at this point. Also, I admit I haven't done much exercise do you think at 2.5 weeks out I can start to ride my stationary bike? Is it safe?

Thanks for the info. I went through the whole process at TWH and was approved for RNY only. I was told I did not meet the criteria for the sleeve which was no medical condition that precludes the RNY. I was also told there was no appeal process. Which surgeon did you have?
  8. My husband will be with be. I don't really think it is necessary but he does. It will be nice to have the company. I'm sure you'll be fine on your own though.
  9. I'm having my surgery with him on the 12th. I'll probably see you there.

Any ladies out there have PCOS put your hands up!

I also have PCOS - quite mild but I've been on the pill since I was 16 for that reason as well as not wanting to get pregnant. I'm hoping VSG will reverse it. My endo has just asked me to switch to Minera IUD from the pill because of the increased fertility caused by bariatric surgery and her concern that the pill might not be absorbed perfectly (despite it not being a malabsortive procedure) . I understand it will be painful and I'm terrified for my appt. next week.

Sounds great! PM me if you want to talk off line. I can't wait to finally have this done! I started the process 11 months ago through ohip. I'm sooo ready!

    Anybody from Toronto

Hi Josie, I'm from Toronto. Got approved for RnY through OHIP but want the sleeve so I'm going to see Dr. Aceves in Mexio April 11.
  14. I should have also added that my surgeon, Dr. Acceves, recommends taking zinc to prevent hair loss. I'll be trying it.
  15. Hi, I've seen a lot of posts from people commiserating about looking hair at around 3 mos. It seems this happens to most people. What I'm curious about is hearing from anyone who didn't have this happen - is there anyone out there who hasn't had this happen or happen very minimally? If so, what did you do? Were there vitamins you took, did you get every ounce of protein in, use a special shampoo? I'm convinced this doesn't have to happen and I think we can learn from each other. I did a very low calorie medically supervised, ketogenic diet that involved b12 shots 3 times a week. My hair became thicker, fuller and shinier, through that and I was looking 20+ pounds a month. There has to be a way to prevent this!
