  1. Sugar Free popsicles saved my life! I don't know if it was helping with stomach swelling or what.. but I was able to eat those no problem. I was sleeved on 2/12. I'm surprised you're still having trouble with that. I'm eating soft protein now.
  2. At this very moment one week ago today, I was where you are right now. Waiting to be pushed into the OR. You'll be just fine. Nurses are awesome. They will take care of you! Every day gets markedly better. One week out and I am feeling almost like myself again. Hang in there! You WILL be fine! And today is your beginning! YAY!
  3. Me too! Rash on my belly and sides. Gone 4 days after surgery.
  4. CHAP-STICK and my smart phone. Didn't need anything else. You will be sleeping and resting and walking and sleeping and resting. And sleeping. I did wish I had a pillow for the ride home.
  5. I'm out 5 days from surgery now and today I'm finding that the swelling of my stomache must be going down because I was only able to get in about 6oz of water for the day (painful!) That doesn't include my shakes which I could get in a max of about 3 oz each. This am I drank 6oz of shake!! YAY and already at noon have had 11oz of plain water! It's getting better!
  6. Pizza. I know I'll be able to have some again someday... just differently.
  7. I was sleeved on 2/14. Home yesterday. I'm a bit sore and a lot tired but nowhere near as bad as I expected. Anyone else freezing? Stairs have not been a problem for me.... AND 4oz is now SO MUCH MORE than I thought before surgery! Before surgery I thought "how am I going ton ONLY drink 8oz?" Now I'm thinking "How am I going to drink 4 oz?!" Lol!
  8. Oh baby the gas pain was terrible! I couldn't pass gas either, no matter how much walking I did. I was sleeved on 2/12. I'm much better now. Bumpy ride home I think helped to shake things up and I was able to pass some gas the afternoon of 2/14. I had to get up and walk in the hospital because not only the gas pain but sleeping mostly on my back made my whole body hurt. Funny thing.. I could sleep on my left side in the hospital (percocett maybe?) but now I can only sleep on my right. SOOO much better now though!
  9. You need to go see your surgeon!
  10. My IV hand and forearm swelled up like a Macy parade balloon by night 2 in the hospital! My hand is still swollen! Sorry you're having trouble!
  11. I just came home today too. Surgery was on Tue. I have had no nausea or vomiting. My discomfort is probably a 3. My stomach feels like it is cramping from time to time but I'm having no real problem with my water or shake as long as I take little sips. The gas pain was a real.... pain! I walked and walked in the hospital with no real relief. Not until a rough ride home through Maine potholes did I have a .... umm... release.
  12. I was sleeved Tuesday and just came home today and my throat is sore too. I'm sure it is from the tube and dry mouth/throat.
  13. Well, I posted that to you just before leaving for my surgery. I was sleeved on Tuesday and just came home today. It was weird... I had no feelings either way... not nervous, not excited. I think it was just a wall I somehow put up to protect myself. I'm in Maine. My surgeon was Michael St Jean. He is such a sweet guy. I'm tired as heck right now and a bit sore but ok. Can't wait to sleep in my own bed. I don't feel selfish 'cause you only get one chance at this life! My thing is feeling embarrassed about having to have this done. BUT again.... this is my thing and no-one else's. And the PE thing... she's a good motivator! LOL! (not really LOL... it hurts to much to laugh! and she's happy that I didn't die!
  14. My partner is scared too. She is a PE teacher... hello stereotype!! LOL! Anyway.. she's scared I'm going to die too... I have surgery this morning! You hang in there! Dont feel sad.... and DON'T feel selfish...
  15. I'm getting ready to leave for the hospital too! Good Luck!
  16. That's funny, I have been on the two week pre-op (surgery tomorrow morning) and the third evening I had a bowl of tomato soup and I thought how wonderful it tasted.... you know... when you actually slow down and enjoy it!
  17. Tomorrow is the big day. 9:45am surgery. Weird... I have no feelings. Not anxious, not worried, not excited, not anything. Weird...
  18. I'm on day 11 of my liquid protien pre-op and I've been averaging around 800 calories a day.
  19. 8.5 days until sleeve procedure (2/12)... Holy cow.. Anyone else on the 12th? Anyone else have butterfiles from he11?
  20. I've been taking Zicam several times a day as a precaution.
  21. Avoid any alcohol containing mouthwash. Alcohol = drying. Biotene has a great soothing mouthwash and they also have a line of other dry mouth products, toothpaste, a moisturizing gel (they have gum also but that's a no no). PLUS the mouthwash contains similar enzymes to the ones you have naturally in your saliva that help to fight the bacteria that cause tooth decay and periodontal disease. Dry mouth is BAD for your teeth. Dry mouth = increased bacteria + food we eat = the increased possibility of rampant decay. Like any of us need to also deal with that situation!
  22. I am scheduled to be sleeved Feb 12 and I am so FREAKED out about getting the flu!! I have to imagine THAT would not be fun...(and I don't want my surgery postponed) Yeah, Chubarella I would totally call your Dr.
  23. Emmy my surgery is 2/12. I started liquid diet this past Monday. Just stick with it! It will get better! I had a slight headache late on day 1 but since then I've been fine. Not hungry or anything. I have to make sure I am keeping busy though! And I make sure to avoid looking at, being around, smelling, touching food AT ALL! LOL! Good luck!
