Childhood woe's.

I've been 'bigger' all my life. I remember always feeling larger, and first really becoming cautious of my body when I took dance at 8 years old. I remember not wearing jeans for a full year because I was 11 and didn't know where I would find any my size, and Mom going into the 'husky boys' section to find ones that fit me. I remember getting on my mom's workout bike at 9-years-old because my mom told me I should, and then shortly after one vacation her having me go on a diet. I remember this years and years throughout middle and high school trying to lose weight, and trying to keep up with my friends and doing whatever we felt like at the same time. I remember trying numerous types of diet pills that my mom bought, and her taking me to the doctor asking what's wrong with me.

At 16 years old I said, "f**k it! I'm gonna be happy" and stopped caring about nutrition and exercise altogether.

This attitude didn't last long, but I realized there was something dangerous about my happiness relying on my weight and food.

College is where I really tried to eat right, exercise, and have fun too. My weight fluctuated, but never more than 30 pounds or so. I've tried every fad diet there is too, but results=insignificant.

I accepted that I may need help.

I decided that surgery may be an option after a number of friends got the gastric bypass and were successful from it. I went to numerous seminars to make sure it was something that I could do, I worked with a nutritionist after deciding once again that I could do this all on my own, but results weren't happening.

Here I am now, 25 years old.

3 years after initially showing interest in the sleeve, I've accepted that it's the right thing for me, and will assist in me leading a long and healthy life as opposed to one full of health scares, lack of opportunities, and embarrassment. I have no interest in being skinny--that's not me. However, I'm excited to see where this will all lead!
