  1. i am an accountant and I took off a week and 2 days. I was cleared to take 6 weeks off, but I didn't need it. I felt great at the time. I do have to say that it can be a challenge trying to get in the liquids when I am so busy at work. I would suggest 2 weeks if you can pull it off.

I wish I would of waited another week or so to go back.

    Best of luck to you.

  2. I am/was the same way. I just started on full liquids and there is total restriction for me with creamy Soups and yogurts.

Your weight loss is great. Obviously starting weight and how much we each have to lose is a big part of it. I am 10 days out and 11 lbs down and I'm very happy with that!

I am so glad to hear that others had the same situation that I have, I feel great, this is so incredible. I can hardly believe it.

  3. I have lost slowly in my opinion. Almost 3 weeks and I'm 15lbs down. I was losing slowly before I changed my diet though. My whole 2nd week I didn't lose anything. I'm not too concerned about racing to the finish line. Sure it would be nice but I know I will continue to go in the right direction. Also I start back to work next week so wanted to be on a more regular eating pattern so I have some idea what to pack for lunch.

I feel so good that I am thinking of going back to work next week too. I hate to jump the gun and then be sorry if I do go back and regret it.

  4. I was the same way. No pain from surgery. Able to get my fluids in with no problem. Not until I moved to puréed foods and some of the stuff from the full liquid phase did I get the feeling of just full up where it felt like food was sitting in my esophagus. I'll be 3 weeks out on Wednesday. Supposed to be on puréed still but all the cream stuff was just not sitting well. So I'm eating soft foods. Turkey sausage and soft boiled egg for breakfast, Soup for lunch. Today was split pea cause it has more Protein. dinner last night was chicken and cauliflower purée (the meat was not puréed) anyway now I feel full after a meal. I was really beginning to think there was an issue. Also about 3 days ago I could suddenly tolerate even more at one time. I think the swelling on my sleeve is gone now. I think you will find if you give it more time that you are perfectly normal.

Oh I hope so. I am glad that someone else had the same type of situation. Do you continue to loose weight at a good pace?

  5. Is my sleeve too big?

Well, I am 5 days post op and I can drink normal, without sipping, no pain meds and I can walk a half mile. I feel some hunger, I am starting to wonder if I really had surgery.

I can get in my full 64 oz and 60 grams of Protein with out any problems at all. My weight loss post surgery is 9 lbs.

Does this sound right? I am getting nervous that my sleeve is too big or something.

  6. I'm nervous about how I'm gonna do after surgery Wednesday when I'm already soooo sick if Protein Shakes, broth and sf jello! I just want meat! Lol I can't believe surgery is just a few days away...starting to get nervous.

I feel the same way. I have surgery in the morning and I broke down and had a small piece of beef roast. I thought I was going to lose my cool, so I ate it.

I hope it doesn't mess up my surgery tomorrow!

  7. I have had so many issues with my surgeon's office staff, that this journey is not an excited one. I am almost to the point of just quitting the process.

Some of the issues have been that the Patient Advocate tried to stop my process without talking to my surgeon, and of course pissed me and my surgeon. So I got a new PA and haven't been able to talk to her either! She won't return my calls, when I email her it takes forever to get a response if I even get a response!

I have done all the educational meetings, psych evaluation, Nutritional class but they haven't scheduled me for EGD. And I don't think they will. Now I don't know what to do!

Has anyone else had this problem? I am at a loss!

Oh that is a tough situation to be in. Have you thought about calling the office manager? Maybe they can help you get around the politics that seem to be going on in the office.

  8. Hi Nancy - I am from Ft Collins Co and I too am being sleeved on 1/23. My doctor doesn't require liquid diets prior to surgery - after reading this forum I can see that all doctors have different views. Any way blessings and prayers for your surgery and new life. How much weight do you want to lose? I am so excited and so ready to be able to keep up with my grandsons :)

Hey there lucky you not having the liquid diet! I would totally be good with that! Well, I want to lose about 80lbs or so. I am at 219 now, I would like to be 100lbs, but I want to be realistic too.

    I am getting really excited!

  9. Hi:)

My surgery is scheduled for the 21st of January. I have my PRE-op with my doctor this Thursday and I am freaking out!!! I haven't met my goal weight yet and I know every doctor is different but has anyone else had this issue. Also I am SCARED AND NERVOUS AND EXCITED!! All at once.

    Help!!!

My doctor did not require a goal weight. But, he is making me do a liquid diet for 7 days before surgery. Bet of luck to you.

  10. Hello! I was sleeved the 9th and came home yesterday and yes it feels so good to begone. My pain is now controlled by extra strength Tylenol. Here is some stuff that may help you guys who have not gone in yet. Things do taste different after surgery to me. Water tastes good to me but Atkins advantage shakes I loved before surgery are awful tasting now. Carnation instant breakfast is good now. I bought beef bouillon Soup mix from Drs best weight loss and it is delicious very beefy and salty and really good. I bought cappuccinos from them also but all the beverages taste very strong I have to water them down.

When people said they can't get their liquids in I thought it was just swallowing enough but I have had NO hunger since surgery so even Cappuccino and Jello eat isn't easy to get down because I'm not hungry. It's like having no want for any more. I'm still coughing up heavy green junk from my chest. You have to move around soon after surgery and blow into a tube 5 times an hour to keep your lungs able to fill up and keep pneumonia out. I was shocked how much junk I had in my chest after surgery. I slept in a recliner too because of the air trapped in my shoulder it doesn't hurt when I'm in a sitting up position. Anyway it is just a little info that may help someone.

thanks for the info, it will help me in the next few weeks. How long were you on a liquid pre op diet?

  11. My program holds me accountable for every pound I lose so I can't afford to fall into that trap. My goal was to lose 13lbs. I've lost 31. But even though I was only required to lose 13, since my recorded loss is now 31 I can't gain any of that back or surgery is cancelled. Is that not the same everywhere?

My Doctor put me on a 7day liquid diet before the surgery and that is it.
