  1. So I was 3 weeks out as of Tuesday. I lost 30# in the first 2 weeks and nothing in the 3rd week. I know this is the time for a stall. The thing I am concerned about is that I am actually not eating enough. I can eat pretty much all foods. My doctors diet seems to progress quicker than others.

I go swimming everyday and ride a recumbent bike. But I have gained 2 pounds. I do have to say I do not have regular bm's.

So I feel like I am crazy and I must be the only person on the planet to have the sleeve and gain 2 pounds!!!

    Any suggestions?

You might try to up your Protein intake to 80 or 90 grams to break your stall. You might have gained two pounds of muscle and not fat.Up one or two pounds,I would not worry about that, sometimes this happens to me.It might be from too much sodium intake and that is causing you to retain Water, just keep moving forward and the weight will come off.

  2. I just got back from Disney a few weeks ago. I was 5 months post-op. I was worried about how I would eat there as well! I had nothing to worry about' date=' though. Here are my tips:

    * You can pre-order any special food you'll need from Garden Grocer to keep in a refrigerator in your hotel room. They deliver to all Disney hotels. I ordered cottage cheese, string cheese, diet Jell-o and the flavored Water I like.

    * I found that all Disney restaurants will grill chicken for you. You just have to ask. I had grilled chicken every day and was able to get my Protein in that way.

    * I found that all ice cream vendor carts in the Disney parks sell Edy's no-sugar-added strawberry fruit bars. They only have 50 calories.

    * I brought my own Protein bars with me.

    * I brought along sugar-free oatmeal packets and had that for breakfast every day. I stayed at one of the hotels with a "food court" in the lobby (Art of Animation resort). I got the hot Water for the oatmeal at the beverage station.

    * Most restaurants (and the hotel food courts) had fresh fruit/vegetables available.

    * I brought along Starkist tuna in pouches. I got the one called "Tuna salad - Sandwich Ready". It has 90 calories and 10 grams of protein and was easy to carry into the parks. I also brought crackers to eat with it.

I was in Disney for a week and actually lost 7 pounds! And this was my first trip where I was able to actually fit through the turnstiles!

    Have a magical vacation! :)[/quote']

Thanks for the tips. This will help alot.

  3. Yeah...usually I can roll with the punches but as my surgery date gets closer and my preop diet gets more intense...I am running out of patience!!

Do you think the preop diet defense would stand up in a court of law? I think it's similar to the Twinkie defense! Lol

From my standpoint I would say yes!! Even after you have surgery some people still do not understand the process that you have to do to eat. I have a producer that I work with and she has a really high metabolism and does not see why I carry a big bag of Protein powders and Snacks that will not blow my calories for the day. Can you just not eat like a normal person? NO I CAN NOT!!

  4. Do not be so hard on yourself. It is a process that takes time to figure out. I am 3 1/2 months out and about a month ago I stopped at McDonald's and got a milk shake by the time I got home it all came back up and I finally figured out that I am lactose intolerant to full fat milk. So it is definitely a learning process. Hang in there you can make it through this.

  5. It takes some time to figure out your new stomach. When I was first sleeved any food that I put in it caused the most awful sounds, but that did subside in time. I am 3 and half months out now and when I am am almost full my stomach makes this huge burp sound and if I continue to eat I get the hiccups and my nose will start to run. You just have to figure out your stomachs signs and that will only come from trial and error and time. Good luck.

  6. This will be my first trip to an amusement park since my surgery in February. Does anyone have any tips on eating at Disney or eating at amusement parks in general? I am a little anxious about riding the rides. The last time I was there the lap bar would not close on one of the roller coasters because of my belly was getting in the way and I felt like my son was going to fall out and I had to put my arm over him so that I felt he would be safe. Wish me luck.

  7. My wife likes to zumba at a church with some of her friends they stay in the back most of time. You might look at getting an eliptical it works both upper body and lower body. Weights are a really good as well they actually burn more calories than cardio. Another resource that i have used is the biggest loser dvd's, you can tailor the dvd to how long you want to work out, the squats are a killer though. A bicycle is really good as well.

  8. I did not have the lap band, but I was scheduled for a 10:30 am procedure and there was one person in front of me who was doing a revision to the sleeve at 8:30 am. At 1:30pm I am still waiting to see my surgeon and he finally shows up at 2pm and I asked him what was taking so long and he said the lady in front of me had two hernias wrapped around her lap band and there was complications from the hernias. So advise her about the risks and let her make the decision on her own. Let her do the research.
