Ok..im trying to understand the situation of eating/drinking
Hey Joe, sometimes I will have a small sip of Water to clear my palette. I hate the feeling of food left in my mouth. but I only take a SMALL sip. The philosophy behind not drinking is that it washes the food out of the pouch. The whole deal with the band is to create a pouch to hold the food as long as possible.

OT - My Sisters Baby
uhm, is her head big? my son had troubles with his head too, but his head was so big he looked like a dang space alien (one of the greys...) He didn't walk until he was about 18 months old either, his only trouble was his dang big head. (he started talking at 9 months)

5 Days Until Banding and I'm a WRECK!
Becky, as soon as Zoe shows up with her size 11 boots... Becky, both my DH and I had a great recovery. The worst pain I had was from cramping from my period. My DH was in the hospital for several days, but he is a very special case--he weighed 600 pounds when he was finally banded. Most of the people who get the band have very few complications!

Fun Thread
1. What is your first name? Crystal 2. How long have you been banded? 45 days 3. How much weight have you lost? about 25 pounds 4. What was your favorite food pre-banding? sushi and thai food 5. What is your favorite food now? well, I hope still sushi and thai food, but there aren't any local sushi or thai places to me now. (I'll be going home mid-May.. Yay!) But right now, I am enjoying a blend of spiced pate that I mix up myself. 6. Are there any foods you can't or don't eat? I haven't tried any sort of bread 7. What is your favorite snack food? I'm not really a snacker 8. Has your SO changed towards you in any way since you were banded? Nope, no change 9. What are some of the things you can do now that you couldn't do before? leave the house without my inhalers 10. Do you have any pets? What kind? I have an ancient yellow Lab. My DH has a pair of chinchillas 11. Wht would your dream vacation be if you could go anywhere you wanted? A startrek holodeck. If you insist on limiting me to this planet, I would love to do some sort of adventure trip. Maybe dog sledding in the Yukon or white Water rafting or learning to drive a like a spy, or maybe sleeping on the beach of a tropical island 12. If you won a million dollars, what would be the first thing you would do with it? pay my tuition, pay my son's tuitions, pay the tuition for my other boy-ohs... 13. What are your favorite books to read? I love trashy sci-fi and fantasy, but I read lots of technical books on security. 14. What is your favorite TV program? Farscape, but it's off the air now. So I would probably pick Stargate

Bummed...
Yup, this is the right place to vent about this! Your other friends will of course be sympathetic, but they won't really understand the same way. Your health is paramount, but unfortuantely, waiting for medical test results can be the ultimate test of patience! Hang in there, vent if you need!

just home from hospital!
Welcome to the Banded Gentry NYgrl! I don't think you sound crazy, I get that same feeling when I have a bit of gas... But when I describe it that way, people do look at me like I'm nuts... You've just had a major surgury! give yourself permission to pamper yourself, and let that house work go for a couple of days! You should start feeling much better in the next couple of days.

Spouse at Consultation...
I didn't go to the consultation or the seminar with my DH when he had his band. I did go to one of the "Soup Nights" support goup nights, but I was quickly overwhelmed and had a panic attack. My DH wanted to do this on his own. I didn't go to any of the seminars. In my case, I wouldn't have learned anything about at the seminar because my DH had been such a model patient. He did go with me to my consultation. He offered to not go, but I couldn't imagine him not going through the process with me. We have a very open relationship. (No Delarla, not THAT kind of open relationship ) I tell him about all the boys that flirt with me when I go to frat parties... He even knows how much I weighed at my highest.

6 weeks check up..making good progress!!!!
I'm sooooooo kinda envious! I won't get my first fill unil the middle of May! Great news about your -30! That is terrific work! And yes Dixie, you can still have wine do a search on "wine" and you will see several threads on the subject of drinking. I'll just sit here and whine some more

Horses
As y'all know, I enrolled in a basic horsemanship class this semester. The first class was one week after I was banded! Yikes! Okay, I missed the first class becaue I had to have an emergency D&C... but I was there for the rest of the classes... Okay, this is what I"ve learned in in the class: The right way to get off a horse. If you get off the horse wrong, your bra will get caught on the pommel and you will be left dangling by your bra. This will give all the women a good laugh, but the horse will be a lttle anoyed with you. And speaking of bras, WEAR A SPORTS BRA! There is no way you can hold your bouncing betty's when you are trotting. Not without risking falling off the trotting horse.... And its a LONG way down to the mud... The mud mixed with horse shit.... Yeah, wear a sports bra. Horses have hard feet. I shouldn't worry about hurting their feet when I pick them out because I will never have enough strength in my hands. I can saddle a nervous horse in a thunderstorm. Okay, I think I was more nervous... I can also do all the tack in a thunder storm. But trust me, its much easier on a bright warm sunny day with no wind. Cowboy boots are a good thing, and they make me laugh. Just the thought of me in cowboy boots makes me laugh every time I even think of wearing them. Wear wool socks, wear really good wool socks. You feet will thank you when it is 35 degrees outside. oh yeah, you need a shower. The arena dust will be magnetically attracted to your hair... and we already know what is in the arena dust... Yikes!

Need Help Deciding
If there no such thing as the lap band, I wouldn't have had any sort of WLS. I don't want my insided messed with. The other surgeries were a no starter for me. One of my friends is looking at one of the by-passes, but it makes me cry thinking of all the risks he is opening himself up to... like death.

Just Checking in!
Actually, that is just an urban legend. http://www.snopes.com/toxins/plastic.htm I checked with snopes, and they said it was false. For all of you that don't know, snopes is one of the best site for busting hoaxes on the net. My other favorite is Hoaxbusters http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/ run by CIAC eeeewww Penni!

Mark, when you go to the Faire, you might want to pack ahead and bring a can or two of protien shakes, just to make sure you have something band friendly.
