Lisa, I actually do have extra kids. I have Skylar, and Casey and Terran and sometimes Chrisie and now Ayla, Spud's girlfriend. hehe, during finals week, one of my buds in ID introduced me to his best friend. I dont' know how the converstation turned that way, but I said something about missing my boy-ohs at home. 'Your boy-ohs?" Yeah, you know all the teen-aged boys that hang out at my house...." The look on this guys face was priceless! "uhm, why do you have a bunch of teen-aged boys hanging out at your house???" "oh, they are all friends with my son." "*silence* uhm, why do you let your son play with teen aged boys?" At this point, Mark, my bud, is just dying. His friend though I was maybe 28.

several of my recent ones are under the Haiku thread.
  5. I LOVE "Sean of the Dead!" One of the most clever movies I've seen in a very long time. I have to fess up, I'm 43 and I watch Saturday Morning Cartoons almost every Saturday.
  6. you continue to inspire all of us! Great work!
  7. My favorite local morning radio show did an 'Idol" sort of thing, where the winners formed sort of a pick-up band. The co-host of the show is named Spike, and the name of the band is "Spike and The Impailers." Great name for a band. It, like everthing else, got me thinking. If I were to form a band, what would I call it? hmmmm. My techno band would be called "Crystal and The Reports." (for obvious reasons....) My rock band would be called "Crystal & The Shards"

Another day, another NSV. Today, not only am I wearing for the first time, a shirt I got for Christmas, but I RAN FOR THE BUS. Yes, you read that correctly, I RAN for the bus. It's not like there wasn't another bus in 5 minutes... but I RAN. Me! and I wasn't winded either! Heh, sure, I'm happy with all my NSVs but a part of me is wondering when I'm going to start having some weight loss!

Thanks Betty! That pix really shows how much weight my DH has lost so far. I'll have to dig up a before for him. Think I could post before and during pix of him on our main thread? He will never come here, since he wants this to be "my" place. I think he's finally lost 200 pounds and is in Tripoli!
  10. First, great work! You've lost more than 50 pounds! Okay, sounds like you've hit that dreded platoue. (gawd, I wish I could spell.) I'm beginning to thing that these are rather on the desirable side, since they give you a chance to get used to your new size. Some speculate that it's the body's way of maintaining it's sanity. I noticed right off you haven't listed any of your NSVs, which in my book, are more important than scale victories, especially given that the scale is a damn lier. Look at how fit you are! WOOT! Have you had a real measurement of your body-fat taken? it could be that you are losing fat and gaining muscle. You didn't publish your weight, but it could be that you have an athletic build and will find that at 180 pounds you have a body-fat of 23%. Woot! In my not so humble opionion, the body-fat percentage is much more important than what the lying lyer of a scale says.
  11. I really like the EAS Advant Edge. I like it better than the atkin's cans. I haven't tried the others on the list. I like that the EAS has more Protein than the atkin's. But I don't like all the sugars....
  12. Yesterday I had just the worst suck lunch. I had terriaky ckicken for lunch and after the second bite... WHOO BABY! I didn't PB, but I sure thought I was going to. I got terrible slime, it went down. Well, snack got stuck. My dinner got stuck, even my brocoli got stuck. So, I figure that my esophogus was really irritated from the lunch ... mishap. Okay, first things first, no more terriaky chicken for me. Second, has anyone else experienced the same sort of thing? I didn't PB so I didn't think I'd have trouble the rest of the day, but was I sure wrong. DH said this will happen to him... Today, I'm doing soft foods, just to be kind to myself.
  13. great work on getting to size 16, Fantastic! And yes, aren't mothers special? (as a mother myself...) I was raised by wolves.... But you know what, she's right. Sorry. You are not dieting. You have made a serious life change. Diets, by the way we define them, are designed to be a temporary state, not a permanent state. Because you (and nearly all of us for that matter) have had the Band, you are doing something vastly different and PERMANENT. Or as permanent as the Band is.

I've always been a big fan of DEVO. Spuds feature in their mythology. I don't recall the exact song this is from but I'll post it when I find it. "Time to show those evil Spuds what's what." This is one of my all time favorite songs, "We're through with being cool!" It's sort of been my personal anthem since I was in High school. "if you live in a small place, you might meet a dozen young alien types who step out and declair "we're through being cool" Well, it's worked. No one would ever think of me as being "cool." Spud says I'm so not cool, I"m like the anti-cool. Which impresses him. I don't look too bad in this pix, considering I was on 2 percocet and into the 2nd hour of a hot flash.
  15. oh Teresa, I am so really sorry for you and your dogs. One of the reasons I decided to put Tipper to sleep was because there was no way I could ever live with myself if he ever bit a child. I too felt like a complete hostage in my own house. I had considered giving him away, but I wouldn't be able to control what happened to him once he left my house. I know that it would always be my responsibility. And If I read in the news 2 years from now that he mauled a child because I didn't put him down when I should have I believe that would be criminial of me. I'm not saying that is your situation, it was mine. I just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you and your family.

Here's a rare sighting of me... This is at my Spudboy's high school graduation. I'm so proud of my baby.
  17. HAH! No excuses here! Zoe! get your boot!

Mr. & Mrs Smith. My kind of Chick Flick.
  19. Oh Christina, I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my cheecks, my nose all stuffy from crying. I'm so very sorry that your very dear friend is gone. You have just made the hardest desision I think a person can make. I know there are many people who would condem you for what you've done, because they don't understand. I know you are probably inconsolable right now. I know that Gunner was an older dog, and I think it takes a special person to care for older pets and people. It took me years between the last pet I lost and getting my dear sweet Astro. You will be in my thoughts. *sniff* ((((hugs))))
  20. I have no memory of my actual surgery. I did get the naughty-nurse stockings though. my experience: they had me go potty, and put on the stockings. Then they started the IV, several people came to talk to me, but I was out-gone before I was even wheeled away from the starting bed. Woke up in my hospital room, didn't have a single memory of the recovery room.
  21. I've only gotten a few things stuck, but for me it is an "oh-my-gawd-let-it-stop!" sort of feeling. NOt something you want to have happen. Usually from a bit of food that hasn't been chewed well enough. Although some people can chew something to absolute liquid an still have problems with it. As for bump, when a thread is inactive for a while, someone will "bump" it so it become active again. Only bump I can think of...
  22. no shorts or capris if your are more than a size 6??! To hell with that! But then, I'm notorious for not giving a fig what other people think. Wearing or not wearing shorts won't have any impact on whether my body looks short and round. You know why? Be cause I AM short and round! (but only short by marriage.)
  23. How funny is that! I'm always amazed at how small the world is, internet or not. No, I'm having the procedure here in Seattle. I sure don't want to have it in Pocatello!
  24. thanks for posting Kat. The band isn't "one-size-fits-all." Espeically if you have ... diviatiations from "standard" physiology. (hi mom!)
  25. http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=6834&highlight=article I thought there was more discussion on it though. The link in the first is dead, but it the same exact article.
