Sorry to hear about your Grandfather. I'm even more sorry about your dad.

Scared about surgery and aftermath.
My recovery was great. I was grocery shopping the next morning on the way home from the hospital. My worst pain was from my period. I've been banded 12 weeks, no PBs (productive burp), no vomiting but I've woken up nausious a time or two (I sometimes do that even before band.) Only regret is that I didn't do this sooner.

breastfeeding while banded
Ah ha ha ha ha ha. Sorry, you are right on schedule. I don't think I've read of one person here on LBT that wasn't freaked out by their impending surgery. (((((hugs))))) Getting hit by a rock was a pretty good excuse. I hated PE classes as a child. Always, always. The kid in the coma would get paicked before me.... "No fair, we had to take Crystal last time! Nu-uh, we had her."

breastfeeding while banded
My bottle-baby son never had a single ear infection his entire life. I breast fed until I had my motorcycle accident when he was 3 months old. I stopped because the trauma of the accident stopped my milk. It is possible that the trauma of the surgery could stop your milk production as well.

Ugh Applesauce
Great question. I haven't quite figured out the whole thing. For me, head hunger seems to be a case of "there is no way a quarter cup of chilli could possibly be enough. I need to eat more." My band says ENOUGH but my brain says MORE.

Lap Band v's Gastric bypass
I hate it when people stand on my one last nerve!

The weight really is dropping overnight!!!
great work! Don't be discouraged once you hit solids, because most people find they even gain a little back when they hit that stage.

???-4th day out & Black
you might want to increase your vitamine C, since that helps with healing in general, but also helps with brusing. (you should have seen the amazing bruses I got in my Tae Kwon Do class...)

Lap Band v's Gastric bypass
My DH was 'super super obese" which is of course, the catagory after "super obese." He's lost just shy of 200 pounds, last weigh-in he'd lost 196 pounds. He was 600 pounds when he was banded. If the band hadn't been available, he would probably be dead since he would have never gotten anything else.

Healing
I had the same thing. I found patting my tummy where it was itching helped.

I am ticked off....
I'd be thinking about switching doctors too. You have every right to be pissed off

???-4th day out & Black
I had pretty bad brusing Christinia. When I bruse I tend to have so purple it might as well be black, which generally fade to green. mmmmmm yummy.

Where's the support?
There is no bandster support group in SE Pocatello, where I live for most of the year. There is a new WLS surgeon who is seriously promoting the bypass (no band) via TV commercials. My surgeon said to not attend their support groups. Our challenges would be completely different, and he just didn't think I would find any useful information that would apply to my needs as a bandster. For most of the year, LBT is the only place I can go for support. The folks here are absolutely great.

New Pics of Penni
I am constantly amazed that the after (or during) pix show a younger looking person than the before pix. I can't think of a single person that looks older after loosing weight with the band, and you Penni, are certianly no exception!

Do you save a lot of $$ on food?
well, last week my DH and I went out for dinner. We only ordered one entre. No desert, no apps, but we did get an extra salad. We couldn't even eat the entire entre between us, but our dog got the leftover salads.

Question reagrading PB'ing
Well, I've been banded since mid March, and just got my first fill. No BPs here either. You can eat everything because you are wide open because you've not had a fill. Don't worry, and I think you are doing things EXACTLY right.
-
Today is my first fill
I had my first fill on Thursday and it didn't hurt. I'm a big baby, and it was only a couple of pokes. She filled me, then made me drink some Water. Then she took some out. Of course, she didn't take out enough... So I have to go in for an unfill... Oh, and she was very good, she never let me see the needle. Not once.

OK, I am SOOOO confused....
Blu, this just doesn't sound right. From a physics point of view, it just doesn't sound right. I would have them check you under the fluro. At 3.5 cc you would be at liquids only

Waffles Anyone?
no, once I decide on something, that is it. I make it happen.

PCOS - Banding Benefits
Well, the jury is out for me yet. I've been banded for 3 months and just got my first fill last week. However, my asthma has improved so dramatically!

Questions and Concerns
Welcome Lady Bird. I don't think you will find anyone here on LBT that would advocate the types of WLS. We have all chosen the band, and are invested in the band. Pretty typical of people who make life chaning investments. However, one thing different about this board--we will be supportive of what ever you choose. I've visited other boards and one of the things I noticed right away was the name calling. "you're stupid if you choose X type of WLS. The only effective type of WLS is Z procedure." You won't find any of that smack talk here.

Just told my mother
I never did tell my mother for fear that it would turn into drama city. My older sister, whom I swore to screcracy, told. The surprizing thing is that my mother has been completely suportive of me and the band. I'm sure that part of it is that she's seen what great results my DH has had. But I now know that my sister is a blabber mouth!
