Poetry Thread

For Penni and the Poets. I have a few published, but yikes, they are deep and private and under a pen name and not intended to be associated with me. Oohh, I'm so mysterious. So who's gonna share? Penni, you better start this since I'm the (choke) shy one.

Harmonies of Life!

By: Penni Merrick

c 2003

Harmonies of life are given as a gift.

Cicadas, crickets, echoing and singing,

Accompanied by guitars and crackling fire—

Each compliments the other.

Encouraging the next chord or chirp.

The Harmony created goes unnoticed,

Except for the unborn child, the innocent,

The aged who sees life with dying eyes—

All are smiling and hungering for more.

The crescendo reaches heaven

Where the Creator sings

And Hell where the devil smiles.

Cicadas, crickets sing for their mates.

Guitars sing their songs for approval,

Each in perfection.

The fires add mysterious applause,

Smiles, and asks for an encore.

Harmonies of life are gifts.

Never taken for granted, but cherished.

Listen to the Harmonies!

Betty, there goes trying to take Penni's seriously (I snorted.) Did I mention these all have to be homemade? Betty, did you write that or get it off the bathroom wall? (still cracking up)

Thank you Betty. I actually wrote that while in Kerrville Texas Folk Festival listening to the crickets and cicadas and the music at the same time. Thought it was beautiful.

Penni - that is beautiful!

Here is another one for you

The Quest Unending

by: Penni Merrick

I want to speak with my ancestors.

I want to talk to them.

I need to know about their life,

I need to know my purpose.

Where are you?

How can I speak with you?

Would you understand?

We speak in different ways.

Help me break the barriers.

There is too much confusion,

There is too much muck.

Is there no hope?

I will free my mind.

I will release my guardian animal.

He will lead me to my people.

I feel my guardian's presence.

I hear the quietness

I feel the stillness

I sense the power

I welcome my friend--Timber wolf.

With a low growl

I hear him say.

"Fool, your people are all around you, just look."

With that he departs.

I'm left more confused

Where are they?

How can I look?

I know not what to look for.

I will call again for my friend

I feel his presence

I will ask

"Please guide me old friend."

"Why do you ask what you already know?"

"I don't know where to look."

"Search from within and the answer is clear."

"How is this accomplished."

"Dreams--Meditations--Believe"

"I am more confused."

"That is why you will never find your answer."

With that he left again.

I grow weary,

I will rest

and search another day.

Timber Wolf

"I hope another day will come for you my friend."

I've been saying that since I was a little girl, I have no idea if I made it up or heard it somewhere! :):D:D

Always did hate them burgers though!
