  1. Glad to have helped, I went through the same exact thing. Waiting and waiting. It's kinda sad when the patient has to school these insurance coordinators. This seems to be a common mistake these coordinators make. Well you are on your way!!!! BCBS seems to be pretty quick once the paperwork is in order. Pretty soon you will be shouting "I'm Approved!!
  2. It's time to grab the bull by the horns, kick the excuses in the behind and take control of your life!!
  3. I have a PPO plan which means I don't have to consult my PCP for anything. If you have an H M O plan, you usually have to have a PCP referral for most things. You can find this information out quickly, by calling your customer service number on the back of your card. I still have not told my PCP about my procedure yet, hope this helps.
  4. I don't know? Now days who writes anything It doesn't matter however, as long as the Insurance company has it with your file you should be good to go.
  5. Are you talking about the letter of medical necessity? Everyone who has this surgery has to have this letter(unless you are a self pay). All this is a letter stating that you need this surgery because of your weight and co-morbidities, etc. In short it just explains why it is medically necessary for you to have the surgery.
  6. Sorry to hear that, there are still other options. Have you thought about Mexico? So many people here have done it and been successful. Don't let this drag you down, most of all if this is really what you want don't give up!
  7. When you call next time ask for the Precertification Department. They will tell you when the claim was initiated and the status. I was calling the regular line and they were saying the same thing, nothing was sent. They must use a different system than the regular customer service reps have. I have Anthem BCBS, hope this helps.
  8. It doesn't matter what they think, this is about YOU! You are the one that has to live with the decision not them. You are doing this to better your health and longevity, we all know how hard this is. Let them think what they want, you should be focusing on yourself. This is the one time where being Selfish is a positive thing. Don't let others pull you down when you are doing something to better your life.
  9. You will get there, keep us updated!
  10. I have to agree with UPRR wifey on tis one. Whatever the requirements are for you to have the procedure, just do it. Try not to compare what you have to do to meet these compared to someone else. This will be just a bleep in time, soon enough you will be so happy and singing to the world how you are "Approved for surgery". I learned early on to tune out the "Noise" from everyone else and focus on my process, and what I have to do to get this done. Stay strong because your efforts will be well worth it soon enough.
  11. I thought this day would never come. Soon we will be cheering for you.
  12. Thanks! Seemed like this day would never happen.
  13. Yes everyone has to have the letter of medical necessity No worries.
  14. Congrats!! I too can finally exhale, got Approved today also!!
  15. The precertification gods smiled on me today! I finally got APPROVED!! A big weight has just been lifted off my shoulders.
  16. I am so sorry to hear this, remember many insurances will deny you. According to the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, insurance companies will do this in hopes that you give up. They will find errors in paperwork or errors in filing etc. to deny you. This is an expensive surgery and if they can get a few people to say "forget it or I'm done" that's money in their pocket. So don't give up file an appeal, don't let them win.
  17. Soon you will be shopping for new clothes!
  18. Well buckle up butter cup, you are in for a ride!
  19. I second that emotion!! There's nothing easy about this decision at all, it's life changing. The surgery is just the start, we will have to be the ones who do the work!
