    Haters And Nosy Folk!

Hello You Go Girl!! I now the feeling, nosy women and nosy people that just want to gossip. I was soooooo torn up when I came out of surgery if I should tell people at my job or not. I am NYC teacher so I planed my surgery over the summer break. I cried ALOT about this, but then again I cried alot in general about this surgery (maybe its just me and i am sensitive lol) I went back to work in sept. and was down 50 pounds. I decided if I just say yes I had surgery and don't go deep into conversation about it then it would shut up the gossiping. I figured how could people gossip if I am telling you from the door that I had weight loss surgery. OOOHHHH was I in for a rude awakening!! I work with 99.999% women not a single woman came up to me and said a damn thing yet they were all asking and talking behind my back. The few that eventually did ask I said yes i had surgery, are you teaching math 2nd period. I got all kinds of responses. A women came up to me and said that people are only paying me attention because I have a body!!! I had to remember this negativity isn't for ME its their own battles inside that they are fighting and I just happen to be the punching bag! I also had to remind myself not everyone is going to be happy that you are losing weight. The world is filled with all kinds of sick and twisted people. I remember a woman in my doctors office saying that you're going to see men treating you very different after surgery. I haven't experienced that yet and I hope I don't cause I am not sure how I would respond. lolol...

    Stalling!

Hello, I was sleeved on July 23rd I have slowed down. I was dropping a pound a day or a pound and a half and now around and about 10lbs this past month. When we first start there a lot more weight to come off, which is why is comes off faster. I like zumba, you can youtube full workouts and trust me they work you out! lol..I am actually getting into the P90X. I am not sure if they are on youtube as a whole workout but its more for toning which is what I am looking for. Those arms and thighs lolol. DON'T GET DISCOURAGED!!!!!!!! you're doing awesome! try a youtube video a few times a week and se eif that jump starts your loss.
  6. Hello, I think a huge stress reliever for you is that you are already exploring the emotions and the change that WILL happen in your life. This surgery is an emotional one. I spent plenty of nights crying, wondering if what I am doing is right and ten thousand other questions. The main issue is that you don't let all the doubt and fear change your mind. When something is new and scary, its human nature to run for the hills but this decision we all made here is to live a healthier life. Most important this decision is for US!!! I am sure many of us as the "heavy person" became the one that carries everyone else's crap and find ourselves almost feeling guilt when we want or have to do something for ourselves. One (there were many) of the biggest lessons I learned through this journey is I have to come first. best of luck
  7. Hello, I am the same way! I refuse to get sick or vomit so when my body says "we are full" I push the plate away even if its two spoonfuls. I think a big part is knowing your body and knowing your limits and not pushing them. Great work!
  8. Hello, Stay positive! Its key to your success! Of course like anything there will be ups and downs, but its just new and we have to readjust! Enjoy your Christmas dinner! keep me posted!
  9. Hello, I say this all the time as well, it becomes normal! I think thats the beauty of it. I remember 2 months after i was sleeved I went to a diner and seeing the waiter bring this huge plate of food over, where in the past I would eat all of that and an appetizer and drink two or three ice teas, made em nervous. I ate what my stomach allowed me to eat and took the rest home. I think after a while it just becomes natural and normal. Best wishes and you're sooo right ROCK YOUR SLEEVE!!! lol
  10. Hello, There will always be something you will regret but we have all been upset or depressed about our "start" weight and now that we have taken the steps to change that our lives and habits have to change and its just a readjustment period. In the beginning I felt that I would never be able to enjoy food, let alone ever go out and have lunch or dinner with friends but in time you become more secure in what you can eat and you will be able to just 4oz of it! It seems weird but also remember we all did this for us and our health and if someone else has something negative to say about it or put you down, screw them! You are on the road to a healthy future. Best wishes!
  11. Hello, One Of the most mixed feelings is cleaning out the closet! I am 5 months post opt and I made a promise I wouldn't by new clothes till a year after surgery or I feel I am staying level. People at my job and my father started saying my clothes were hanging on me and I looked ridiculous. I went from a 4X top to now a XL. I had to get rid of them. I was going to try and sell them because I had SOOOOO much but the aggravation and hassle was too much. I filled 9 huge garbage bags and donated them to the church. I didn't keep anything in big sizes because I was afraid if i kept it I would feel its ok to go back. Its a psychological journey, the whole surgery is mental. I told my surgeon the actual surgery was the easy part but the mental changes and emotional change that comes with it is the hard part. Best of luck to you!

    Bionic Smell?

Hello, Did anyone notice a difference in preference of hot or cold drinks or even food? I can only stand hot (luke warm) in the morning and everything else has to be freeeeeeezzzzzing! filled to the brim with ice. I was told that any time the stomach is cut the hormones change and the chemistry of the stomach changes, hence the taste buds or what you want to pit in the stomach. I was living off humus for the first few months. Humus and freezing cold water! lol
