  1. it sounds like a great plan. I'm staying of the scale for a while except tomorrow I can't help it because I am going to the doctor.
  2. Maybe so, I can never really tell. I just don't like to encourage that type of thing, I think it breeds discord between women lol that sort of "we're joking, but not really" type of thing, you know what I mean?
  3. That is extremely passive aggressive and most places, one or two incidences like that is grounds for termination. Extremely unprofessional. Gotta remember, these are co-workers not family and friends.
  4. I think its a mistake for everyone here to start referring to your coworkers as losers, a-holes, and jealous catty women. The fact of the matter is that most of us do not put much thought into whats going on with our co-workers unless we happen to be particularly friendly with a handful of people or something like that. I can understand hurt feelings because you had expectations because this seems like a pretty standard thing that they do but consider this - they probably don't know you well, they may or may not realize the severity of you operation, and they may or may not care, and they are not obligated too. You are putting to much stock in people who don't owe you anything. As for the phone calls, texts and e-mails, I would stop all that PRONTO. I would send back one respoce with something like "I have just undergone a major abdominal operation and will become available again on this date _____ " or something along those lines because now that I already talked to you about what they dont OWE YOU, YOU DO NOT OWE THEM all this attention either right now.
  5. I would just let it out there with them, all this buildup and practicing and stuff is probably just working you up into a state of high emotion that most likely isn't necessary. I know its easier said than done but try not to have a ton of emotion wrapped up in how they take the news. You're a married, grown adult and you have made a decision.
  6. So this morning was day 7 for me, and so I ventured to pull out the scale. I weigh the same as surgery day...... The day after surgery I was +3 pounds which I know was from the fluids and stuff, and now I am back to my surgery day weight. Which is fine, I lost 20 pounds right before surgery and I just had a huge traumatic thing happen to my body so I'm not really flipping out or anything like that but I am sort of curious how common that is. I read so many posts of people talking about losing so much that first week due to not taking in much that I sort of expected SOMETHING today. I go to the doctor tomorrow to get my drain out, and after that I will be feeling SO much better and I think it will come off easier when I have a little more range of movement and stuff.
  7. You ALWAYS have to be aware of incognito advertising. I do not know for a fact that it goes on very much on this website or not, but lots of companies hire people to do nothing but make profiles on different sites around the internet indistinguishable from a real one, to say positive things about themselves. There is not usually anything site administrators can do about this because its hard to verify but there are some things you can look for to maybe be able to start to tell if this is going on or if you are suspicious of a particular post. If a person is giving a RAVE review with litterally not a single critisism, and it doesn't seem balanced at all, that is something that MIGHT be a red flag that it COULD be someone working in that office trying to create some online hype. You have to be careful though, because thats not always the case, and a lot of bariatric patients have a tendency to be really hot or really cold so it might just be a patient who is "in love" (ie, FRESH post op, havent got their bill yet, havent had a lot of pain yet) so its something to consider. Something else to think about is if someone is constantly relating posts back to a PRODUCT. Now, if someone is asking about Protein and someone tells them their favorite protein that is reasonable, I am talking more about people who seem to go out of their way to mention a product when its somewhat off-topic or even completely out of left field.
  8. Go back to see your surgeon. That looks bad.
  9. Just call the office to be on the safe side. They will probably tell you to watch it and call again if it goes above 100 and a half but just make a phone call anyway.
  10. Who un enrolled you, the bariatric program or your insurance company? to me it sounds like you need to get on the phone with your insurance company because your coordinator seems to be wasting your time.
  11. I'm sorry about the chair thing, thats terrible. I have some heavy relatives and some of the chairs at my parents place are old and MIGHT not hold them, I was always extremely careful and strategic to be sure that they never had to sit in those. I certainly wouldnt give a glued together chair to an obese person and it was kind of insensitive to not pay attention to that.
  12. This is pretty complex, but I will throw my two cents in. All things aside, we have to take care of ourselves, and we have to maintain our individuality, even in marriage. You cannot force her to be on board. She might be scared, have feeling about "the easy way out", have financial concerns, or she might not "get" why someone would want this because you said she does not have a weight problem. I want to let you know though, something you said set up a red flag for me. You said she is the cook, you make deals but she wont plan. This may or may not be the case but it sounds as though you are shoving off your responsibility for what you eat onto her, and if she doesn't pick up the slack then its not your fault you are not eating right. We all have to be prepared to fend for ourselves. I can tell you that meal planning is NO small task, its work intensive and expecting someone to cook for you daily is asking a lot more than you probably realize. I would say something to her along the lines of "Look, so far we haven't gotten very far with this conversation so this is what I want you to understand - You opinion DOES matter to me, this surgery is also very important to me, I want to have some kind of understanding here between us so I can decide how I want to move forward" Something like that - I can't imagine a woman not responding to something worded in a similar fashion to that. It took a while to get my husband on board with me doing this, even the day of surgery I don't really know if he was ALL in or not, but we came to an understanding and I was prepared to deal with things on my own if I really needed too. Don't try to manipulate her into agreeing that she is happy about it if she isn't.
  13. Mine lasted spot on about 2 hours. Some go quicker than that. I had previously had a lapband although it had been removed prior to this surgery I still had some scar tissue to work around.
  14. WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CANT TRUST MY FARTS?! we have a long, healthy relationship that goes WAY back!? You are telling me they are going to betray me!?
  15. Oh my goodness, I am so happy to hear that. I was actually thinking about this post wondering if you were ok before I laid down for a nap earlier. The thought crossed my mind that the stitching material could be to blame but I wasn't on the computer anymore. I am so glad you have some relief.
  16. Young Man/Lady Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the way the internet works, so let me shed some light on this subject matter. When you post something to the internet by way of online forums, chat rooms, or otherwise you are opening yourself up to all kinds of things, luckly here on this site things are well moderated (Thank you, mods) so you get to bypass a lot of the flaming, harassment, and generally trolling that one might expect on the internet. Also, these forums are a public place for the members to communicate thoughts, feelings, and information between Vertical Sleeve Talk members. By in large this thread has been EXTREMELY informative, and pretty close to as "on topic" as you could reasonably expect. If you feel that you have gained all the information you care to know about this particular subject, feel free to delete the thread, although that is ill-advised because the entire point of a site like this is to build up an archive of information. I have not once seen you offer a useful response to any of the people here who have taken their time to offer you information, or even so much as a thank you. Forums are a give and a take, and you need to learn how to give a little. Not every single reply to anything will ever be exactly spot-on what you are looking for, but you should be thankful for all the experienced people here interacting with you.
  17. I could be wrong because it was hard to find stats for this, but without the wrap itself its closer to 100 calories.
  18. I was thinking about making a pot of coffee! I have to go to bed early tonight because I need to take someone to an appointment in the morning so I am not going there tonight but tomorrow AM I'm giving it a shot. I don't feel bad though at all, I don't have that "need to go but can't" feeling, I just wasn't sure if going this long is OK or not.
  19. Mine was last tuesday. I was tired after surgery so the nurse kindly sent my visitors home after they talked to be for a few minutes. I was comfortable the whole time except for RIGHT when I woke up, and even then it wasn't TERRIBLE and they managed it fast. The only thing I wish I had purchased BEFORE surgery that I wanted when I got home was a heating pad for my shoulder. The effects of the gas on my shoulder seem to be more extreme for me than for other people. Just something to consider.
  20. Consider ordering the fish with no bun, or part of a bun. It's softer (I know its fried, but I'm thinking in terms of what you will be able to eat without getting sick on) Its 230 calories (enough to get you through the day) 11 grams of Protein, and 10 carbs. It was hard to find EXACT calories and information for the other it did have slightly more protein clocking in at 13 grams and less carbs without the tortilla (5g) What worries me though is its only 100 calories like that. Is that going to be enough for you on an active day without feeling faint?
  21. I HATE being the center of attention, when someone starts questioning me on weight loss and complimenting me, its great, but if it goes on for too long or calls a ton of attention my way suddenly I get very uncomfortable.
  22. Sooo believe me guys, I tried to just use the search funtion for this but didn't come up with much, I'm sure I am not the first person to ask this but my terminology must be special, I don't know. Anyway, I was sleeved on 1/22 (last tuesday) and it is now Sunday. Healing up well, feeling FINE except for one thing is worrying me. I have not had a bowel movement (not even a tiny one lol) since the morning of surgery. I know I am taking in mostly liquids but still, I would have expected SOMETHING. I did have a post on the bowel prep from hell that was highly unusual and harsh so I could have just really been cleaned out because I don't FEEL constipated, I was just someone who was extremely regular before this. Please give me some feedback.
  23. STOP THAT NONSENSE (scratching) IMMEDIATELY lol the nurse in me is shrieking in horror. Our nails are sooooo dirty. We should be keeping our hands OFF. If they told you to put some oil on it thats fine but ya realllllly gotta stop inflaming the laparoscopy sites.
