Chellemetime got a reaction from Georgia in NSV lately?
I just found this thread and have loved reading all of these NSVs! It makes me smile. My newest one was this last week at work. One of my coworkers said "we just keep watching you shrink away" and another one said I was looking "svelte". I never in a million years would have dreamed anyone would refer to me as svelte. Never.

We went to a Mexican restaurant yesterday. lunch was beef fajitas, barracho Beans, guacamole and salad instead of rice.

I ate most of the fajitas, some guacamole about half of the Beans and 2 small bites of the salad.

I went to the eye doctor yesterday to get my yearly prescription for contacts. She said to me "Ok, I'm confused. What has changed with your health since last year?" I told her I had lost almost 80 pounds and she said that explains it. Evidently, when your overweight your body retains Fluid that affects your vision. She was confused because my vision is BETTER now than it was last year. She actually gave me a lower prescription. I've been wearing reading glasses with my contacts for the past 5 years. I don't have to do that anymore! I never imagined all of the things that being overweight interferes with. My Asthma is almost non-existent, I'm on my way to no high blood pressure meds, I barely ever get sick anymore, no more restless leg and all of my allergies are pretty much gone. I love my sleeve!

I had surgery 12/11/12 and I have lost 140 pounds. I don't regret it for a second...once in a while I think it would be nice to eat this or that like I used to but then I remember the 140 pounds gone that have given me my life back! :-)

Chellemetime reacted to stepheff in ONE YEAR SLEEVE-AVERSARY !
My journey began long ago, but on January 11th, 2014 I was one year out from surgery. It has been an incredible journey with many highs and just as many lows! I remember back to the day I had surgery when my husband asked me if I'd do it all over and my response was "NO!". It sucked not being able to even drink Water, well I could drink Water, but not as I could the day before surgery. I remember taking small painful sips of everything. Being fat was so much easier. I still to this day think being fat is so much easier. The sleeve is not "the easy way out" as many people who are uneduacted on the procedure believe. If it was easy more people would do it. It takes a lot of work for the preliminary processes and after is even more work. I have so much respect for people who take the initiative to do what is best for them in all aspects of life and in my life my initiative was to live a much longer, healthier life for myself, my kids, and my husband. I do not regret the surgery ever. I have temptations and yes sometimes wish I could go to the buffet and eat like it's my last day on Earth, but knowing what is right and what I put in my mouth has an effect on my tomorrow is what guides me to make the right decisions. I would love to be able to answer questions for anyone who is questioning the procedure and I challenge those who tell me it's the easy way out. I as a mother, wife, friend, and RN support those in the same spot I was one year ago and encourage everyone to do what is best for you! You are in control and determine your happiness and future!
    On January 11th, 2013 I weighed 273lbs
    On January 11th, 2014 I weigh 168lbs
I included a before and after. The after is from a couple of months ago!

Ok so I'm back to obsessing. I'm tracking everything the last 4 days. I average 1000 calories with 50% fat, 35% Protein, and 15% carbs. I've dropped 5 pounds already. Sure it's Water weight from the carbs I had been eating but it's motivating still the same. I did miss my masters swim team last night due to a wicked Migraine which was likely from carb withdrawal. I'm not looking forward to my next swim because I'll certainly be glycogen depleted and weak.
I find that if I eat low carb for my meals I don't have that snack monster bothering me between meals as much the last couple of days. I'm also back to using a Trutein shake with unsweetened almond milk as one of my Snacks. I don't know how many calories I was eating before because I wasn't tracking. I can't imagine it was a heck of a lot more than this, but it was more and it was certainly a lot higher percentage of carbs than what it has been this week.
I do plan to have a cheat day once every 2 weeks. I think it's good to keep the body from getting too used to low cal and keep it guessing on how much to burn.
I got my profile details mostly fixed on the left by editing and re-saving them.
I'll try to keep checking back now that I'm obsessing again.

Chellemetime reacted to McButterpants in Can you still eat in restaurants?
It's all about choices no matter what you're eating and where you're eating it.
The surgery didn't take away our ability to chose which foods we eat - there are temptations all around us. When driving down the road have I thought, "Wow, I want McDonalds fries"? Sure, but I now that I shouldn't have them. Will I eat a fry ever agin? I'm guessing I will. I just can't eat an entire large order of fries as I did in the past, my sleeve won't allow me to.
I'm scared to death that I now have no restrictions on my diet. Doc says to eat what I want - keeping with my parameters of 80 grams of Protein and about 50 grams of carbs. I'm scared that my sleeve has accepted all the foods I've thrown at it - I'm scared because it opens up all kinds of possibilities for eating. I have to CHOSE to eat the things I know are good for me and CHOSE to not eat the stuff that got me to 256 pounds.
