    Turtles and PCOS

I was diagnosed with PCOS and have the lovely pearls you speak of, but seems to be less of them as I lose the weight. I am also on Yasmin to control periods and of course not not have kiddos yet. If I am doing the right thing I lose and if I'm not following calories in calories out I don't lose. It has never actually affected my weight loss. I do that to myself with caloric intake! Ha! When I work at it and do the right things though I can drop pretty quickly! I was also tested for cushings and I'm sure you remember how the endocrinologist told me that people that have cushings lead a very uncomfortable life and he basically treated me like an idiot for my pcp sending me there because he told me if I had cushings I would definately know. Hopefully he was just a bad doc, I'm just glad I will never have to see an endo doc again if I can keep losing and become healthy.

    Pregnancy in your 30's

I don't know if this belongs in this area but I figured I would get the most response from the general lap band public here. I am 27 now and want to finish college before I have children because I know I will just put off finishing again if something like pregnancy and children came along. It is really important for me to finish school so I will be in my early 30's before I feel I will be ready to have children as much as I want them now. My question is how many of you waited until your 30's to have children? I have PCOS due to my weight and feel as the weight comes off that will go away also being that it is a syndrome. I am worried that the longer I wait the harder it will be for me. Am I crazy thinking I will be too old at 30 or 31 to start having children? My husband is 6 years older than me also and wants kids badly when the time is right. Any stories would be helpful of people who waited or didn't wait. I need to weigh my options now. My delima, I have a great paying and steady job now, but I hate the work and the hours. I am going now part time to school to become a teacher that will be a major pay cut, but great hours and I feel will be very rewarding and worth the major pay cut. I could go to work part time for a few years and do the rest of my school plus student teaching and then buy a house, have kids...or I could stay where I am now in route to buy a house this fall and then have kids after that and somewhere fit in school and student teaching somewhere in there down the road and stick with a job that I hate?? I am perplexed and want to wait until Im done with school, but scared I won't be able to have them (babies) if I wait until I'm in my 30's... Sorry this was rambly, my thoughts are not together today....Any ideas and thoughts would be appreciated.

    Pregnancy in your 30's

Holy crap Julie 14 children that your grandmither had starting at 28, WOW! is all I can say to that. I appreciate all of the stories of women having healthy children in their 30's. I do realize it won't be easy with conception, but I have always had the thought that it wouldn't be easy anyways due to the PCOS. After I lose down substantially more, another 60 pounds, I am going to have my doc check for the small cysts again. My gyno just moved so I will have to find an entirely new doc soon, which I am not looking forward to. I've been on birth control for quite some time to regulate and keep the bad stuff at a minimum down there due to the small cysts and I'm hoping with more weight loss that this will all just go away! I didn't get the PCOS until I was over 200 pounds so hopefully getting under it will help it just go away. I did the figuring and I could be done with school in 2 and a half years if I go back full time, this includes the year of student teaching and all. So I will be 30. That is really only 2 years later than I intended and hopefully I can continue to heal my body through weightloss and become healthier with exercise also in the mean time and enjoy my marriage before kiddos come along. There are so many options these days for fertility and I'm sure in 2 and a half years there will be even more updates with that. Thanks for all of the advice...It's just funny how your life never turns out to follow the timeline you put in place for it!

    Out of CONTROL!!

Thanks so much guys, today was better. No binge today, I did have a snickers, but I will say that is the only candy I have eaten today and after the past couple of days just that alone is a jumping a big hurdle for me. I still have not eaten over 1000 calories today, so that makes me feel better too. I will have to go cold turkey and I wish I could automatically get that feeling you have after you have done the Atkins for 2 weeks and you don't crave anything, let alone want anything to eat and yet you have massive amounts of energy. Damn that Atkins for working so well when you actually stick to it! HA! I'm at least in better spirits today and also realized it is PMS time so that could be the fire behind some of the madness and uncontrollable everything!! I know the peanut butter cups should be considered and taxed like cigarettes and alcohol, but that wouldn't stop me either way. Self control is coming back, it just took the horse and buggy instead of the Astin Martin...hopefully I can grab hold soon and stay off of sugar for a while. I bought the carnation choco breakfast drinks, so I will try them in the morn and see if that curbs my addiction any. Good luck everyone and thanks for the support!!

    Pregnancy in your 30's

Josette, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom and the issues that go along with that. As for getting the degree after the kids, the whole point of getting the degree now is because at my current job I make great money but work a 60 hour week, most weeks to do it, which with school doesn't get me home until after 8:00 pm every single night of the week. No matter what I will have to work. My husband does not make enough to support the both of us now, let alone adding a child...I have been the moneymaker in the relationship hating my job while he makes substatially less at a good job he loves and has worked at for almost 15 years now. I want to have children and be able to enjoy them and raise them and feel that if I become a teacher I will have a schedule that is more condusive of that rather than the corporate overtime mom. I'm still debating. I love hearing all of these stories and hurt for those that had so much trouble becoming pregnant or never being able to become pregnant. You are right though, there is a time and a place in our lives and I have to figure out what is more important to me and definately figure out how to balance work, family and me. I hate the struggle that it is, but if I wasn't struggling I wouldn't be living!

    Pregnancy in your 30's

I guess I have that timeclock ticking and Wheetsin I feel exactly the same, I wouldn't get pregnant unless I was at a healthy weight anyways, that was one of my major reasons for getting the band. For me, I want to be below 150 pounds before I try to get pregnant. I am just worried that If I wait too long I won't be able to get pregnant and the time will pass me up and then I will never know that joy in life. I'm just hoping there are plenty of more people out there that had no problems getting prenant in their 30's and they post on here to ease these concerns, HA! Wishful thinking!

    Out of CONTROL!!

Today, so far is better, I brought my low sugar maple and brown sugar oatmeal pack for breakfast to work, so we will see. I really want a McGriddle, but I haven't had one of those in months because I can't even think of getting something down that solid before noon, thankfully the band steps in on issues like that. I will make it through this day though. If I could make it outta bed this morning I can do anything!! Thanks guys!

    Good girl Monday

I was such a good girl yesterday! There was 3 birthdays and 3 different cake passed around at work and I didn't take one piece! No cake was eaten yesterday! I did eat the breakfast taco I got from Lezlie but I only ate the eggs and sausage inside and only about half of that and didn't eat the tortilla. I was good all day long!! Breakfast: 100 calorie pack cookies and half of inside of breakfast taco: 300 calories Lunch: 1/2 chargrilled chicken sandwich w/ lo fat mayo and 1/2 order small fries: 300 calories snack: 100 calorie pack cookies: 100 calories Dinner: 100 calorie bag o popcorn: 100 calories Totalling: 800 calories I also did my Gazelle for 30 minutes to burn 270 calories!! -270 calories I've been getting all of my water in and started taking 2 childrens chewable vitamins yesterday. I have realized that the 30 minutes on the Gazelle doesn't do much for my heart rate and sweat factor like it used to. I need more to get my heart going, which is a good thing of course, but means I am going to have to spend more time working out if I just use my Gazelle. WHO has that kinda time. I will have to figure more exercises out and get out my tapes to follow along to. WOOHOO, I am also down 1 more pound!! 6 pounds away from Onederland!! TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Slim & Slutty by Summer!! My newest mantra!

    Junior & Misses Clothing

I'm so close to that I can feel it, but as much as I never want to shop at Lane B again I try looking at other stores and I can't find stuff as cute as there. Some years they are really good on thier fashions and some years they just have a bad designer...but I always know I can find something there when all else fails. You might try one of those stores like Marianne's that has the regular sizes on one side of the store and plus on the other that way you can try on the same outfit in the different sizes they offer...I need to take my own advice on that!!
  14. We will be the group of peeps taking really small bites and chewing a million times! I predict a lot of baked potatoes at the table! HA!! It's not a big place, but can get busy at lunch time. I will be carrying a white rose and wearing a red scarf...ok just kidding, but I will get my eagle eyes out for ya'll!
  15. My gallbladder was easier for some reason, maybe because they were taking things out not putting them in. But procedure wise everything was pretty much the same.
  16. Everyone else said it, when you go from taking in nothing but fluids once you start eating real food you will have to place on a few pounds. Tell her not to fret though especially since she has lost almost 30 pounds in 2 weeks. That is a lot of weight to lose very quickly, her body has to adjust to that. No one can maintain weightloss like that for very long. Tell her not to get discouraged and to keep up the healthy lifestyle and the pounds will start dropping again soon enough...
  17. oh yeah, I voted, 25th at 11:00, I get off work at 11:00, but I am just 5 minutes from there off Royal at work, so I am so there!! That is the one in the Target parking lot right??

    Personal Decision to Discuss

I told everyone at first, now I wish I hadn't. I went 6 months last summer not loosing at all and everyone was asking why it wasn't working for me. It was really embarassing for people to think that I had weight loss surgery (and they all think bypass since it is the one in all the media) and I wasn't losing weight. They wanted to know what I was doing wrong and why others can lose 100 pounds in 6 months. I still hate explaining it especially since I am 15 months out and still only around 70 pounds down. I am still obese and people ask me if the surgery didn't work or what?? I should have kept my mouth closed.

Surgical recovery times and hair color

I don't know... but I had died my hair a week before my gall bladder surgery about 2 years ago and when I left the bed I recovered on I had hair dye all over the pillow. Had actually soaked it thru and thru! I have no idea what caused this!?? It has never done that at home and I get my hair "did" about once every 6 weeks!
  20. Congratulations CHICKA!! Great Job!

So I am not so crazy after all

I hit the ER at least 3 times before my doc sent me to have the test for the SLUDGE! I had to demand it because I knew what it was! Yep, I had it, once that puppy was gone, the pain was gone and I gained the 30 pounds I had dropped from being too scared to eat because I was having about 3 attacks a week!! They are so painful!!! Then after hours or sometimes days they are gone and you don't even realize it. I'm glad you finally sought a second opinion...Hope you get it out soon!!! Good luck!!
