Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?
Oliver's Mom replied to *Dean*'s topic in Fitness & Exercise
I love reading this topic. I'm am getting psyched for my C25K class to start on Thursday!! I've continued to walk/run/walk/run on the treadmill. The instructor for the class said our last class will be to run a 5K! I got a little panicked because I too have a 'fear' of running outside. So toady while walking my 3 dogs I decided to try running a little - I checked first there was no one around outside. Note to self - do not try that again with the dogs! They're small, they got so excited and they kept cutting in front of me. But - at least I faced my fear about outside. Next time I walk along ocean I will try the walk/ run thing there. Pride be damned!! -
Hahahah, this is a funny and timely topic!! Today I went out and bought some new bras because my 44DD's just didn't fit, no matter how I tried. The new ones are 40D's. I told my husband before I had the surgery that I didn't want to look like a Sharpei (those wrinkly wrinkly dogs) or have my breasts look like the ears of a Bassett Hound. I'm a dog person. He's more than happy to pay for me to have whatever tucks, nips, lifts, reductions, whatever I want after I have stopped losing. At almost 60 years old, I chuckle at the thought of being 'perky' again!!

Question about dress sizes from a newbie
Oliver's Mom replied to jgarnick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went from a size 22 to a size 16 in 3 months. If you order a dress a size or two larger than what you think you'll be, then it can be fitted to your exact size prior to the wedding. HOw exciting that you will have your sister's wedding to flaunt your weight loss!!! -
So, my dear husband - ALWAYS gave me chocolates for Valentines Day - even when I pleaded with him prior to the day not too - chocolate is my weakness. This year (I was sleeved Dec 3, 2012) I didn't think I had to ask him not to give me candy and I was right!! He gave me a Nike+fuel bracelet. I can set fitness goals and track my progress on my phone and computer. He's a dear, dear man. LOL, it took surgery for him to finally 'hear' me tho!!

Dear husband & his thoughtful gift
Oliver's Mom replied to Oliver's Mom's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I love it! It's a great tool for motivation. I find myself checking the numbers throughout the day. If I think I'm not being active enough - it motivates me to 'kick it up'. Good luck and have fun with it! -

Super Positive Sunday! Love your sleeve, Love Yourself!
Oliver's Mom replied to deedeemuffin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It has been a great Sunday. My husband is home and we've spent the day together. Enjoyed last night with my kids, their spouses, my dearest friend and her kids and spouses. We all went out to dinner and laughed and laughed. This friend & I lived in a 2 family house, each in our own apartment when we were young single moms. Both divorced. Our kids grew up together, we lived through a lot together. Shared my mussels (appetizer- I ate 2 small mussels) with others, and had a little baked haddock with some butternut squash. Brought the rest home. I love that dinners out have become easier to order & manage - AND that the focus has shifted from food to the company of others now. I am so thankful I had the sleeve. So many medical issues I had prior to surgery are resolved, and I feel so much more energetic and healthy. I look forward to exercising now. Weekend walks with my husband have turned into a great time for talking. I'm also thankful that February is almost over - winter is cold and hard here in NE - I prefer the warmer spring & fall temps. Have a great week everyone! -
If not pounds, then inches will do....
Oliver's Mom posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
First let me say thank you to those here who suggested measuring. Lately, the scale has been s l o w , just going down .1 or .2 at a time. But thanks to reading here that we should measure too. I did.......and although the scale is slow I lost 3 inches in my waist and 3 inches in my hips!! That's in just 10 days. Whoohoo!! I'm beginning to like exercising - don't think I've ever said that in my lifetime. -
I add the SF hazelnut to my SF Carnation Essentials and also to the 25 calorie hot chocolate. It reminds me of a Dunkin Donuts mocha chino. I also have made some mini protein muffins (I got the recipes on the world according to Eggface blog site) using SF Torani. While I was in the soft food stage I made whipped jello - sort of like mousse - using Torani too. Recipes galore using the Torani syrups on the Eggface site.

I like Mio and I also drink Tazo Passion Fruit Herbal tea and their Wild orange tea is great too. Both of them are good hot and iced.

Why are people so insensitive?
Oliver's Mom replied to popsicle_20721's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am amazed at what people say to others. It's like there is no connection between the brain and the mouth. I'm sorry someone said that to you. Hopefully you will be able to put that comment out of your head. Keep up the good work. -
Dear husband & his thoughtful gift
Oliver's Mom replied to Oliver's Mom's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I don't know the cost - but he's a very generous guy so I wouldn't be surprised. I've set up the band on the computer and my phone. What I find is that it motivates me to move more and that's just gotta be good. I started with a modest 'Fuel' goal and plan to up it as I get more fit. AND when it stops being so cold and snowy here in MA and I can be outside for a longer period of time. I do use Myfitness pal to track my food, liquid and I also post my exercise there. -
