I am 47 years old. I am married to a wonderful supportive patient man. I have always struggled with my weight and for the last 15 years I have been over 200 pounds. Food has always been my solace, friend, and enemy. My blood pressure was good but I had acid reflux and I developed asthma. I was reluctant to have the surgery, I felt like I was cheating. I have no regrets. It is major surgery and a huge life style change. While I was under they discovered I had a hiatal hernia. It was fixed and I feel like I can breath better. I had a reaction to the anesthesia. I was pretty sick. Fortunately my friend and weight loss mentor was right there with me barking orders at the staff. I am 3 months out and feel like I have a whole new lease on life. I lost 53 pounds in three months. I am very active. I play a lot of volleyball. I was thrilled when I could start buying athletic ware off the racks. My husband thinks I am gorgeous. My friends at volleyball friends call me skinny Minnie. I have to work on staying hydrated and on making sure I get enough protein especially because i am so active. I still have no hunger and very few cravings. Food is no longer my tormentor. i am amazed at the amount of food i use to eat and the quantity of American servings. i do have to remember to eat slow and watch my intake or I get sick. I replaced my addiction to food with more volleyball, listening to books on tape and spending more time on Facebook. I am planning to start a weight training routine next week. It feels good to look in a mirror and like what I see. I take my weight loss as it comes and although I am still a scale hopper, I am no longer tormented by it.
