  1. There is a special section for over 400 Lbs http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/237899-over-400lbs-gastric-sleeve-success-story/#entry2643999
  2. Don't worry after the 3 week stall you will start to loose fast again. The stalls are just part of the process, you get worried you are doing some thing wrong or the surgery stopped working. The stalls are the way your body looses weight, you are putting your body through a big change.
  3. My Doctor only hires staff that have had the surgery, and two of his nurses have had the revision, and are doing wonderfully. there success is what help me to decide to get the sleeve instead of the band
  4. Ready2tryagain I was over weight since I was 9 years old, at high school graduation I was 300 Lbs. So fir the first time in my life I am approaching "normal" , this feel very surreal. You would think this would be easy but it is all a "brave new world" to me. Before surgery I was deathly afraid but for me it was nothing, not a smallest pinch of pain. I went in at 5:00 and was home by 9:00 with no problems. The first week I just slept a lot.
  5. Today I hit my goal that I set at the beginning of the journey. From 511 Lbs. to 220 Lbs. , 290 Lbs. lost in a year and four months. It hasn't ben easy, but it wasn't all that hard. I had no problems with the surgery (what so ever) and feel pretty good. Over the year I have vomited about 6 time learning what I can and can not eat, and not because I have eaten to much. I consider that the surgery is just the first step. I consider my continuing attendance at my doctors support group just as important . When you start this process you do it to loose weight, but what you are really saying is that I want to be a different person. If you have the surgery and remain the same person you are headed for trouble. This is not easy for you, and the people around you. The surgeon can work on your body but you have to work on your brain. It is much easier for the body to loose weight than it is for the brain to loose weight (the things that got us into trouble to begin with) . So do what ever it takes to get you brain on program, support groups, counseling, or what ever. Remember you have to push yourself to do thing you never thought you could, this is all in line with the process of becoming a new person. I wanted to post for the new people to let them know this works if you do your part to work on you mind and emotions. I am still loosing weight, so I am adding a small stretch goal of another 10 pounds, I want the bragging rights of saying that I lost 300 Lbs. PS. For you new people visualize your self writing this post in the future "I Hit My Goal"
  6. I have found that a lot of people have a stall at the 3 week mark, I also had one. Also at three weeks a lot of people are a little more emotional at this time. I think both the body and the mind are going through a adjustment period.
  7. I had a small cup both Pre & Post Op with no problems. Its fairly low calorie, around 60.
  8. Had A month stall at the 1 year mark... but weight loss has started again. YEA! Lost 270 Lbs. so far 21 Lbs. to go to my original goal
  9. No didn't need to, I felt great, and my doctor does a scope after surgery so there was no need to do the leak test the next day
  10. I had no problems whatsoever I was home in 4 hours, never felt any pain, I just slept a lot the first few days and I am 5'8"
  11. My advise is don't worry about it. you are going to loose the weight. use the time after surgery to break any food addictions you may have, so don't push resuming your comfort foods. In my case I lost all interest in food. Remember its not a numbers game Its a new life thing. I am 11 months out and lost 255 pounds coming from 511. Good Luck
  12. I started out at 511 10 months ago and now I am at 270 and it has been pretty easy after the first month and I am 54 years old so at 18 you will do a lot better god luck and keep the faith
  13. Good Luck tomorrow, you have done so well up to this point
  14. My scale just started reading in the Two Hundred's. Hardly seams possible when it used to read in the Five Hundred's.
  15. You might look in to a different doctor that will do the surgery at a higher weight if you can't get unstuck. 480 to 400 is a big number on your own. I had to find a doctor the would do my sleeve a higher weight. I started out at 51lbs and had to loose 50lbs on my own before surgery, so I had my surgery at 464lbs. I am 5 and half months out and have just hit 200lbs lost mark and now I am at 310lbs. FYI I had my hernia repair at the same time as my sleeve done. Good Luck
  16. My doctor's support group is 95 percent woman, and a lot of the time I am the only guy. While at first I found this intimidating it has been an extremely positive experience. It has changed me for the better, I have learned to talk about things I never thought I could, or even things I didn't understand or have awareness of. I spent my first 50 years not talking to anybody about anything and that got me to 511 pounds. The doctor worked on the physical part, the head and heart need similar work. I didn't get to 511 lbs. buy just physical things (like I like the taste potato chips) My whole life needs surgery not just my stomach.
  17. My heart really goes out to the women on this forum, it seams your bodies conspire against you to hold on to the weight ( but you will win ). I have also had stalls (one also at 4 weeks) but when it breaks a loose weight in bunches. Don't let the scale's numbers justify you decision to have the sleeve done. I would look at it like this. You are taking a road trip to Disney Land and you hit a traffic jam on the way out of town. Don't sweat it you are going to get Disney land and have a great time just a little later than you first thought. Hang in there, and you don't have to be a Super Women just run a sensible program and buy yourself a pair of Mickey Mouse ears when you get to Disney Land to commemorate your journey.
  18. Thanks it nice to hear from larger members like me, and we have the same goal weight I started at 511 lbs. had to lose 50 lbs. pre-op so we were sleeved at a similar place I was sleeved on 11/30/13 an so far down 180 lbs. total
  19. I was in absolutely in no pain when I woke up, or ever, I never used any of my pain medication. I had no sensation that more than half of my stomach was gone. I was groggy when I woke up and felt sick and very nauseous, with in 5 seconds the nurse asked me if I nauseous, I said yes, and she immediately gave a shot of some drug. it worked within 3 seconds and I felt better. So in all no pain and less than 10seconds of feeling sick
  20. Remember that you are the same person before and after surgery, so the co workers should accept you ether way. so if you want to keep it privet then let them mind the own business
  21. I haven't had trouble eating anything except, pills are hard for me
  22. Fears about failing also racked me, and still do a little. The thing that help me a lot is that my surgeon has a extensive support system in place. I the form of weekly support meeting lead by a therapist. I am guy so I am not comfortable talking about any thing close to being a emotional subject, but I found myself in a community of like minded people. This has help me a lot
  23. I used to eat the whole pizza before my sleeve so all and all not so bad
  24. It's natural to have thoughts like you are having. I did not care about my bougie size, I felt this was best left to the surgeon, he is the expert. Remember the surgery is more than just physical. There is something about the surgery that changes you. I am 17 weeks out and down 170 LBS, and I could care less about pizza and alike. People eat pizza and other treats all around me and just don't care and it doesn't bother me at all.
