I'm impressed that you've traveled and been SO on the go since having surgery so recently-- what a trooper! That was really great of your sis to have all the supplies waiting for you; that's so supportive. Especially when she was getting ready for her wedding
I just wanted to say that I've heard flying causes water retention, so if you weigh on Thurs after flying on Wed., keep that in mind -- your actual weight loss for the week will actually be better than what the scale says.
    Congrats on your progress!

Gina, don't worry it WILL get better! I'm 55 and had my sleeve on Nov 6, 2012, and am 3 months out now. I had a rough time in the beginning too. I had two hernias fixed at the same time, and I have Celiac, so can't eat any gluten. I thought in the first few weeks, did I make a mistake, because I felt like crap! All I can tell you is hang in there it will get a little better each day! I have lost a total of 89 pounds now counting my 6 month before diet I lost 50 pounds, and counting 39 pounds post sleeve! I can't wait until this summer to be able to do so many more things than I use to do! Keep on, keeping on!

I am the complete opposite. Then again, I've had a littany of health issues that friends, co-workers and acquaintances have known about over the last few years. A month before my surgery I started a private facebook group page sorta like a blog. My intent was to have an outlet to chronicle my journey, a place to write etc. Initially I included about 15 close friends and family. This was on Thanksgiving. Today there are close to 100 people following my blog and my progress and cheering me on with incredible support. I am overwhelmed at how well received and how supportive all of these people in my life are to me.

Ms. Goldy-- you are not a failure, only have not had the right tools to help you be healthy! "Diets" do not work because they are not a permanent thing. The surgery is permanent. You CAN blow it, but you can not go back to the place you were without hurting yourself. You should have the help of a crack nutritionist to guide you along the way and if you stay active on the boards, you have support. In your local area there should be support groups too. And we all LEARN to find our own health. You are not a failure, dear. Just have not found the right tools for you yet. See the positive.

I feel and have felt the same way. I am new to the group and was sleeved 12/10. I am certainly not sorry but I sure miss my good buddy food. Or what I consider food which is really not.....it is junk. The head hunger is out of control at times but without the sleeve I would cave to my craving because I am truly addicted to food. I needed this procedure to lose the weight and I needed it and therapy to treat my addiction. Have faith, you won't be sorry you are doing this. It is drastic but for some of us it is the only way!

No, you are not nuts. Don't discount your feelings and you are indeed breaking up with food, but trust me, you will learn that food is NOT your best friend. It is your crutch maybe, but certainly not your best friend. It's what got you to this point, it's what got all of us to this point.. friends don't do that. It's like the old friends don't let friends drive drunk.. LOL (well, I tried! ) Let your husband be supportive as he knows how, you will find if he's supportive now, he will probably be even more so afterwards. Mourn food, it's ok to do that and start a new kind of relationship with it... Accept his support the way he is offering it, it sounds like he's trying. He probably doesn't know exactly what you are going through, how could he? He's not in your shoes..My husband has always been thin too and never struggled with is weight... BUT he saw me struggle, he saw me cry, he saw me hate myself and go up and down for years.... he shared that pain with me and he was there to hold me and remind me that he loves me for me too during those times. That was support!
I was sleved 11/15 and I was very scared, but I'm doing great and I am glad I did it. Hopefully you will too. Feel free to reach out anytime for support, there is a lot of support here that was given to me and I'm happy to give it to you as well!
Hang in there!! You are not alone, we are all in this together and understand!

You will get a lot of support here. I did and was grateful for it. Sounds like your husband is trying the best he can. You will mourn food because I do. These are all normal feeling and we all have them. Just know that you will get lots of support and encouragement here. I was sleeved December 5 and have lost 23lbs and have had no problems. Just do what your doctor says and don't try and rush it. Congratulations on your decision for a healthy life.

Hello I too was sooo nervous I would break out in tears everytime I ate something a few weeks before the op. Everything I ate I felt like I was saying good bye how sad is that? My hubby asked me what are you scared of I was scared of change he told me choose health I say the same to you. Choose health food can never be a freind. Its okay to mourn but honestly it is not going anywhere. My hubby has been at the same weight since highschool he doesnt gain weight at all! I feel alone at times too reach out anytime. Your almost there! I was sleeved NOV 15th I almost changed my mind on that day but...so glad I didnt good luck!

I had absolutely no gas pains at all after my surgery. I planned for it and even had the Gas-X strips in my "entertainment" bag that I packed for my overnight stay at the hospital. My doctor said that my surgery was by the book - and kind of boring. Yay to boring!!
I have had zero regrets for my surgery. Here's to a great surgery and recovery for you too!!
The only sad thing is that I haven't really had a chance to have a new favorite pair of jeans!! I've also learned that when you do start dropping weight, don't buy too many jeans - unless, of course, you wear them every day. We can only wear jeans to work on Fridays, so having one pair that fits is enough for me right now. I can wear the jeans on Fridays and on the weekends if I need to... the poor things get replaced too often.

Good for you! I used to be a pop-o-holic and then when I was trying to lose weight a number of years ago, I quit and never really drank it much. But I did enjoy a glass or 2 when we would go out for supper or a movie. Now, I can have a few sips, but anymore than that, and I get a wicked stomach ache and I am 2 years post-op.
