I had my gastric sleeve surgery in Tijuana, Mexico on Nov. 20/12, with Dr. Ruben Frayre/ Dr. Ponce and was arranged through Debra Simons at Weight No More Consulting in Saskatoon, Sask. The hospital stay was 2 days and 2 nights for a total cost of $8500 US. Outside of being a long trip there and back, everything apparently went completely normal. Today I am post surgery 12 days and still feeling a little weak and sore. Also, todate, I have only lost 6 lbs which I dont know is normal or not. Also, the abdominal swelling is still there. I presume I will require more time to "settle down" to my new life. All said, my experience in going to Tijuana was good.....the hospital was very clean and the nurses professional and caring. Drs. were great and discussed everything with you. The only part I was not comfortable with was that all the forms I had to sign to consent to the surgery were in Mexican and did not have a clue what I was signing. The trip back from SanDiego was uncomfortable as the clothes I was wearing pressed on my incisions. The trip back was 6 hours including the change in planes. It was a very long day.
