my hair is naturally thin and fine, so I worried about losing after the surgery. Sure enough its falling out alot! I can see my scalp because the hair is so thin now. Ugh. I noticed it started about a month ago so Im hoping it will start coming back soon, before I'm completely bald.

Is there milk product in the Protein Shake mix ( the powder) ? You may need to try a different brand if your new stomach rejects this one.

I cant imagine why a doctor would refuse to do a sleeve if you have reflux? The majority of people who have the sleeve also had hernia repair at the same time. Reflux is a fact of life before the surgery.
In any case, OP please do not take medical advise from any of us. Its actually dangerous to do so, none of us are doctors.
Please see your doctor ASAP.
-
I had that happen to me a few times before the sleeve surgery, it was a hiatal hernia. My surgeon repaired the hernia when I was sleeved. Ive had no reflux since then.
Please see your doctor as soon as you can. If its a hernia it can be fixed.

No regrets. I've been dieting all my damn life. Lost the weight, gained it back...Ground Hog Day. As I got older it was harder to get it off, and when I crossed the 200lb threshold I developed sleep apnea and high blood pressure.
I tried for another 5 yrs to get my weight under control. sleep deprived and depressed, I weighed 220 when I finally made the decision for surgery.
I'm down to 196lbs in since 1/8/13. I'm religious about following my doctors instructions and having good results. Not hungry AT ALL. It was the right choice me, you have to decide if it's the right thing for you. I did have a few fleeting moments of doubt, before the surgery - but not after.

I go to costco and I purchase vitafusion multivites (the Gummy kind) they sell them at target as well but at costco you can get a very large container for about the same money, maybe two dollars more and I also purchase the kirkland sugar free calcium chews with added D and K. The all together these items are about 20 dollars and should last about two months. For me, costco is worth it because purchasing these at Target or Walmart actually ends up being more expensive. Kirkland is brand spefic to costco but you can get vitafusion at target for sure.
The vitafusion does have three grams of sugar per two chews but for me this is within what I am willing to accept to have a Vitamin that I can get down easily every single day. I have purchased more specialized bariatric Vitamins in the past and they have been a chore to take, and I always end up slacking on that till next thing I know its been two months and I haven't taken my Vitamins. I look forward to these - they taste good.
Also as far as gummies go, some say they are not good enough, some say they are fine. I don't know. My surgeon basically seemed to be of the opinion that they are fine, but if lab work comes back funny we can deal with it differently. I appreciated not being sold a product though.
Thanks for the info about vitafusion at costco, I'm going to check them out. For me the flinstone gummies multiple and Naturemade Vitamin C gummies for adults are working out great. My labs came back with everything in normal range, except vit D. So I take a chewy chocolate vit D now. ( I'm over 50 so menopause is a factor )
I have to wonder if some docs and nuts are recommending against gummies because if you swallow it whole it may get stuck? I take small ( tiny) bites of each gummie and chew it until its completely broken down. Then swallow. Its the only way I can get vitamins in without upsetting my stomach, been that way my whole life. Regular vitamins are just too hard on my stomach.
I am super cautious about everything that goes in my mouth, and have never had anything get stuck. No vomiting at all since surgery. ( I HATE to throw up! )
I guess its like everything else with the sleeve procedure, every doctor has his/her own opinion about pre-op diet and post op diet, as well as vitamins. I would follow your doctors guidance and if the vitamins are especially hard on you - ask about gummies. What can it hurt? It might help you.
-
I have never been able to take Vitamins without upsetting my stomach ( before or after surgery) BUT I discovered gummies and they saved the day. I double up on flinstone Gummy multiple Vitamins and take 2 Vitamin C gummies a day. I take small bites of each gummy and chew...chew..chew. Goes down with ease.
Also Viactive for Calcium, Vitamin D and K, chewy chocolate that actually taste good.
My hair and nails look the best they have in years! Who knew...

Please, please make an appointment with a counselor to work out some of these feelings. You owe that to yourself and your husband who is deployed in service of our country. You have to know that guys worry about leaving their women at home when they leave. Many women step out on their deployed husbands and marriages fall apart. As a military wife, please don't burden your husband with your new sexual obsessions as that may be a dangerous distraction for him.
Sorry to sound like a lecture, but I've seen too much of this and it just breaks my heart.

I had surgery on Jan 8th, and I'm down 21 lbs so far. No complications and the only real pain was from gas. Once that was resolved, no pain at all. The left side is still tender and I cant sleep on it, which is a bummer. Got the staples out yesterday, yea! I wanted to take them out myself
I feel better everyday, have had no vomiting or dumping. Thank god. Going back to work on Tuesday and I'm ready.
The recipes shared on this site are super helpful, make sure to check that thread out.

It's below my staples. I think I might have been too active too soon... When I'm sitting I'm fine. It burns the most when I'm bent over
If you've been active you must be feeling pretty good! Maybe dial it back a bit until you see the doctor?

Oh guys something new... So today is pod6 and my pain is worse... But it's not like a achy pain it just burns!! Like feels on fire on my lower right side. Anyone else experienced this?? I go to the doctor tomorrow
I'm 7 days out and I've had some weird sensations on my left side where most of the incisions are. I hope it is the healing process. Have you been walking alot? I hurt a little more at the end of the day if I've been active during the day.
Do you have staples? Is the pain located around them? I have pain there too.

I was sleeved on Jan 8th too, and my stomach gurgles alot! I'm glad to hear others are experiencing it and its normal

My surgery went well, no complications. Thankfully. Lots of pain the first day but now that Im home it seems to be getting better. Im not hungry at all, but have been dreaming of diet coke. LOL
Just for fun I stepped on my scale today and guess what? I gained 2 lbs. Im sure its from the IV fluids, my hands are swollen too. I think I'll wait a few more days before I weigh my self again.
I hope you all are doing well.

Tomorrow is game day! 8:30 check-in and 11:30 surgery. Just finished cleaning the house and picking up the last of my post-op preps. I wonder if I'll get any sleep tonight.
Good luck to everyone else going in tomorrow or later in the month!
Good luck tomorrow Stef!

God, I pray for my sister. We thank you for a successful surgery tomorrow and that you are with her throughout this process. Guide the hands of the doctors and minister to the nurses and staff as they perform their duties. We thank you, Father, for speedy recovery and that there will be no pneumonia or any other complications. We thank you that you make all things new. In your name we pray, amen.
Thank you <3

Tomorrow morning at 5am for me! I'm so nervous because I'm pretty sick with a head cold. But no fever so the doc and the hospital both said it will be ok. I feel like crap. And excited at the same time.
Please god dont let me get pneumonia. Pray for me January Sleevers.

They just called I have to be there at 330am. Have they called you yet? I'm getting so excited. How are you doing?
Yes, they called me too! I have to be there at 5am, looks like you're first up The liquid diet isnt a problem really, I have zero appetite just thinking about Tuesday. OMG

I loved my coffee in the morning too. 2 big cups got me going everyday. After surgery it didnt sit well in my new stomach, so I left it alone until I hit the 3 month mark and then it was fine. But I can only drink one cup now.
Love the new teeny tummy!
