    Soft Food Menu

chilli was on my soft foods list, as well as tuna fish salad, egg salad, cottage cheese, soft cheeses. thin sliced deli meat was also on my list (but i found ham and roast beef a no go at first). baked chicken and fish were also on my soft foods list. it all depends on what your NUT or surgeon told you is okay. i'm still kind of eating the same foods to be honest and I'm on week 6 right now. My dietician said this is what i'll be eating for the next few months. I've also ventured into turkey burgers and meat balls. I've had lobster tail, mahi mahi, and shrimp. Take it easy, and don't push your sleeve. Remember to chew chew chew!

    6 weeks post-op

It's hard to believe I'm 6 weeks post-op. Surgery day feels ages ago. I'm down 31 pounds. I started to get my butt into gear and into the gym! Unfortunately, I got a little too excited tonight and ate some beef followed crackers with pb&j. I kept eating, not being conscious about how much I was actually consuming, and before you knew it I had immense fullness and my mouth started filling up with saliva. I tried to throw up, but nothing would come out, just saliva pooling into my mouth. At least now I know how much it would actually take to make me feel ill. I even had heart pains for a few mins. I feel horrible, yuck! NEVER AGAIN! I didn't need to sabotage my great 6-week progress by not paying attention and slowing down. But it was a tough lesson learned.
  5. first time I have the slimmies. I ate way waayyy too much, and now I regret it! Feeling horrible

  6. Officially 6 weeks post op today! Down 31 pounds. Can't wait to get to 50.

    shirataki miracle noodles?

I just bought some from whole foods and I'm eating them right now! They're amazing. Yes they smell, but you have to rinse them and put them in the microwave for a minute. I made a butter garlic parmesan sauce and pan fried up some precooked shrimp. Mixed noodles, shrimp, and sauce together. It's awesome. I bought both fettuccine and spaghetti noodles. They don't taste like anything, although when you chew them, they have a different texture (a little more bite than super soft Pasta noodles). They're a little "slimy" but I don't mind it at all. If they're covered in sauce you won't notice much at all. Plus, I'm used to tofu anyway. I'm excited to add these to my diet because I was missing pasta so much, and now it's like I have it back again and can only eat a tiny bit anyway :]
  8. I experienced this the past week. I just didn't have the urge nor want to feed myself or drink. But then this weekend, I went to The Melting Pot, and at first I started to panic because this was my first time really eating out, I thought I was going to cry if my server asked me why I wasn't eating. (Thankfully I gave my leftovers to my father) But the serving sizes were perfect and I was elated and felt so normal, that I could fully enjoy a bit of everything (EVEN DESSERT!) With time, it does get better, or at least, that's what everyone says :]
  9. holy cow, I just realized for the first time in years, my BMI is under 40!

Where do you men shop for regular sizes?

Awww I'm sorry! If it makes you feel better, my dad lost 100 pounds in the last two years and is in the best shape of his life! He runs 5ks, lifts weights, and bikes. He even quit smoking. I hope to join him in all his athletic endeavors :] So just think, even past 45 it's not always too late to change your life and your health.

Khol's, JC Penny, Belk, Macy's. You could even try out Ross or T.J. Maxx. My father is 45 and shops at Old Navy for their jeans. And sometimes they have good shirts too.

    Too emotional and moody?

I'm almost 6 weeks post-up and I discussed this with my surgeon today. Only this past week have I been very emotional. I cried once for no reason at all, felt so tired, one day I didn't even want to get out of bed nor care to eat or drink anything. I asked about hormones (especially since I have PCOS) but he says hormonal issues occur after a more massive weight loss like 70+ pounds. So I don't know. He said I'm having a hard time parting with food. But although I enjoyed food so much before surgery, I was a volume eater, it didn't matter what it was and I always ate convenient food since caring about eating was a hassle for me. I don't miss food so much. Sure I miss pizza and soda, but it's totally manageable. I've also looked into becoming more grumpy/depressed after being on a high protein/low carb diet like Atkins. It's possible for some, that low carb diets can cause mood swings and depression. And I think that pertains to me. My surgeon said that if it continues, it will fall on me to make sure I go see a psychiatrist or my GP to see if I need antidepressants. I just hope I will never need to and things will get better with time. I hope your moods improve, and maybe it would help to talk to someone if you can!

    My progess over 5 months

You look wonderful! So much progress in only 5mos. I hope you feel amazing too!
  17. No I'm not on birth control. I'm thinking maybe I should check that out or ask my surgeon if I could do blood tests for hormones. Today I'm feeling better, but just not as happy as I was pre-surgery. Today is one of the first days where I feel physically tired and I just want to nap and nap
  18. It won't ruin your diet and all your progress, but you have to be extra vigilant these next few days because even one little treat might tempt you to try more things right before surgery!

    First Spin Class...nervous

I'm also looking to take spin classes! I'm riding the bike on my own right now and my school offers a second session in march so I'm doing to sign up then. My uncle cycles and teaches lessons too, and he just told me, NO MATTER WHAT, KEEP GOING. even if you have to sit down and slow your pace, in a few classes you'll get better with it! Glad you had a great time!

    Low Carb Pizza

Do you know the calories? (cream cheese has a lot doesn't it?)
  23. Stepped on the scale in the gym, it finally moved!!

  24. Mine started the day after I got home in December. It was light though. I have PCOS as well, and I went 9 months without having it. This month it returned around the same date as when I had it in december. It was much heavier and I dreaded the first two days of it because those were the worst. I'm hoping with time they'll get lighter. (I actually miss not getting my period, but part of the reason I had this surgery was to finally do something for my PCOS)
