12 week Transformation challenge for vets

LOL I dont have time for all of that.. Im lucky to get to the gym 2-3x a week.. but then again.. im down 93lbs.. so not really worried there.. I do have a trainer at the gym.. he is getting ready to bump up my program.. Im only doing cardio right now per my doc... but I work 2 full time jobs... 80hrs a week.. so not a lot of time for much of anything.. but im doing great I think
  2. yes I have noticed that has chanced for me as well.. I used to go several times a day.. I dont have a gallbladder so I went every time I ate it seemed.. but now for me its like.. I dont eat a lot so I only go like once every 3 days or so... weird for me.. I find it was hard to go at times.. but not to the point where ive been in any pain.. just annoying was all.. I will pay more attention to that and maybe get something to help me go. thanks for the advice.

    Saggy Skin Terrified! Help

I sure hope that stuff works for you.. ive always been told there is nothing you can do for it.. but hey one can hope right? I too have the palmers for toning skin.. when I read that it would work I stopped using it.. talked to a surgeon..and he said nothing will help other than getting the tummy tuck..the arms down.. sort of an overhaul on the body.. im only worried bout my stomach right now.. yes there is much saggy skin.. so in a year or so.. I will have that taken care of..and get more of a shape to me.. other than round LOL. then my hubby says I can get my breasts lifted too if I wanted to.. no additives or anything just lifed and skin tightened.. so that will be cool.. but Ive a long ways to go for all that.. I want to have my wt maintained before all of that.. Im really excited about the future for me.. its been a great journey.. worth everything Ive been thru.. hope your will be too.. might try the coconut oil tho in hopes of that working.. let me know if it does.
  4. By all means follow your dr and nuts instructions.. Im allowed salad but you know what? my stomach doesnt tolerate it very well.. so no salad for me.. a lil bit of shredded but thats all I can take.. Im just now allowed to have citrus.. and boy do those manderin oranges taste good.. they are just the right size and fill me quite nicely. I know it here it can be confusing because every doc and nut and nurse is different.. so your best bet is to follow yours.. I have mine and im post op since dec 20th and im down 93lbs.. so Im happy with that..and following my docs instructions to the tee... best of luck to you on your new journey.. and what a journey it has been for sure..

What you wish you knew before the sleeve

Thats a very good question.. My doc and nurse and nut were very clear on what was what.. only thing I can think of is more of a psych thing.. Im post op since dec 20th and have lost 93lbs. Im having a hard time with the fact ive lost so much weight and that I cant believe what size I do wear now.. which is normal not in the plus size like I was used to. I hold clothes up and Im like.. I cant fit in that.. but reality is.. I can fit in that.. I hold up my jeans now.. and yes I can wear pants that dont have elastic in them lol. which was a goal of mine anyways.. but I guess mentally I dont see what others see.. they see weight loss.. huge weight loss..and I dont see it.. I still see me.. maybe if they did more on the psych level.. to help deal with the fact.. hey im not fat anymore. for me thats been the hardest thing.. Im happy with it and all.. but I guess I dont see it yet.. prolly not until I hit my goal.. which isnt very far off really.. 50 something more lbs to go.. so Im doing really well for the short 5 months its been. so best of luck to you.. great things ahead.. regrets? none what so ever.. I would do it again... just wish I had done it sooner.. . I love this site as well.. great advice from all.. Im on my way to onederland

    Goals

I too have similar stats.. I did set a goal wt because the doc asked me too.. now weather or not I get there.. right now I was just wanting to be under 200lbs.. and into what we call her onederland.. lol I wanted to be there in a years time.. so right now 4 mo out of surgery. I was 296 also.. ive lost 90lbs in 4mos.. so Im going to be close to my goal of 150.. I too have the big bones.. and I dont wish to look like a crack head either.. so whatever I decide when I get close to that.. I guess its all a matter of personal opinion. I will get to my goal.. Im more than half way there and only 4mo out.. so Im happy with my progress.. if I only get to 160.. hey thats ok too..

    Tips on success?

well.. since you will be on a special diet for a few weeks.. look up some good recipes for protein powder.. find one you like.. but your taste buds do change.. no sodas anymore.. train for sip sip sip..no gulping liquids... walk walk walk.. and most of all.. follow what the doc and nut tell you.. and listen to your stomach.. I do all of that.. and my wt loss has been very successful.. im down 90lbs in 4 mo.. so Im doing great.. weigh your food when you get to that point..and track what you eat.. myfitnesspal is great on my phone cuz I have it with me at all times.. stay on track... and when the time comes.. go to the gym.. get that work out.. you will feel great everytime you step on that scale..and another word of advice.. dont weigh yourself every day.. dont let the scale rule you... once a week is fine.. or at your docs appt.. best of luck to you...there is a lot of support here.. welcome to our site.. keep in touch and updated..

Maybe your tummy isnt ready for the types of foods you are eating.. Im 4mo out and there is still stuff I cannot eat at all.. but hey thats ok..and when I was on full liquids.. my doc told me to stay away from bananas for the time being.. turns out the sweet thing was making my stomach sick.. too sweet he said..and also said to mix my protein shake with water and not milk.. even tho it was the 1% milk that was on the list to drink with the shake.. so I did both and my tummy settled.. I dont eat scrambled eggs anymore either.. my tummy doesnt like them..but a soft egg is ok.. I think that the dryness of the food has a lot to do with it too. Have you spoken to your nut? and your doc about this? I havent had any issues other than my tummy telling me "I dont think so" lol so I listen to my doc and my tummy.. they know best.. but on a good note.. I must be doing something right cuz in 4 mo im down 90lbs and only 60 more to go..and down several clothes sizes..and yes I had to go shopping recently for new clothes.. which I used to hate shopping.. but now its opened up a whole new door for me now.. I can shop in the regular side of the store and not the plus size.. hard for me to take.. cuz I still see the fat girl in the mirror.. not the one others see.. but hey thats ok.. and best of luck to you on your new journey.. you will do great.. lots of support here and advice.. keep a positive outlook.. its a great thing we have all done.. this is our do over.. and im taking advantage of that.

body changes This is not me

Thats a huge problem I have.. I still want to shop for those big clothes.. not realizing how much wt Ive lost and the size of my clothes is no longer in the plus size. my hubby has to redirect me every time.. I look in the mirror..and I still see the same me.. even tho countless people tell me how great i look and call me skinny.. but if im in a size 16.. Im not skinny.. thats not a skinny size to me.. its what it is... I have like 50-60 lbs to go.. still a lot.. but I still dont see it at all.. maybe I never will I dont know.. maybe my mirror is lying to me .. who knows.. I hold clothes up and go.. that wont fit.. but when I try it on it does.. so my brain is not working right or something.. to me Im still going to be fat no matter what anyone says..
  11. I havent had any issues with this surgery either.. all the "scary" things have not happened to me.. everything has gone the way it was suppose to and Im down 90lbs in 4mos.. I do what Im suppose to do.. I follow the drs orders to a T. and I fell fabulous.. I go to the gym.. and I eat right..
  12. NancyDec20

Extreme body and mood changes !

how funny I find the opposite has happened to me.. im colder now than I have been..normally im hot all the time.. but now.. nope.. Im freezing most of the time.. but no hormone changes or anything like that.. just body temp has changed.. im hoping summer wont be so bad this year if im cold all the time LOL

    a little down

ive never been confident ever.. I never took pictures either.. I didnt want to face the fact that I was big... but clothes wise. .yes they told the story.. but now my clothes are telling me a different story.. I have been lucky to have my best friend/hubby with me on this journey.. he has been there thru thick and thin.. we have been together for 10 yrs now.. and married for 2.5.. Im 53 and not to late in life to find that one special person who loved me no matter what size I was.. but even with all that.. I still disliked myself..thinking all the time..how can he love me if I dont love me.. zero confidence.. but surgery changed a lot of things for me... Im still in a denial stage tho.. lol.. I mean I hold up the clothes and go.. that wont fit.. and my hubby is yes it will.. and I try it on.. and im like OMG what has happened to me.. people tell me I look great and call me skinny and of course im not that skinny yet.. but those are words ive not ever heard... has my hubby changed towards me.. No .. he is as supportive as ever.. ive lost 87lbs.. in 4 monthes.. you can do this too.. I see from your picture you are very beautiful.. you should not have any trouble finding a nice man.. one that loves you for you like you said.. like mine does.. inside and out.. best of luck to you.. get yourself a good support group.. like us here... the journey is a great one..
  17. NancyDec20

    Help please:)

60 gr of protein and 64 floz of water a day..and walk walk walk.. your body is just taking a break and going whoaaaaa what just happened.. break time.. protein is so very important. you will be ok.. you are doing great.. in a few months.. poof a new you. Im post op dec 20th and im down 87lbs.. and im happy as all get out to shop in normal stores and NOT in the plus size section either.. its a fabulous feeling when you see what size you are wearing and holding up.. I hold it up and im like.. nope I cant fit into that.. but I try it on and omg I do fit in it.. so good things go come.. be strong and keep at it.. you will get there.. best of luck to you in your new journey..

    Failing

My doc also took 85% Im still in the beginning.. im only 4mo out and down 87lbs.. no way am I going back to eating all that food and gaining wt again.. I guess what I would do if that happen is go back to the drawing board.. see a doc and see why im binge eating.. then start over with the phases.. drink your protein..and sip sip sip.. exercise is a must.. liquids then purees working your way back up should shrink it back.. but thats just me.... and you for sure need a great support system.. do you have one? or someone you can call when you feel that binge eating coming on? find a buddy to lean on.. a voice of reason.. Im sure we all at one time or another pick up that cookie.. me.. I stay away from cookies..and if I eat something I really shouldnt.. Im off to the gym to work it off for sure.. and for me night time is my worst time too.. but I cant eat much for sure.. only a lil bit.. so Im ok there.. and my love for sugar free popsicles lol... but look into a doc visit..and get a support system.. and get yourself back on track.. you can do this.. you did before.. best of luck.. keep us posted.

OMG LETS GET ON WITH IT

I think a lot of what you are experiencing is head hunger... we all get that in the beginning.. then poof its gone.. takes a couple of weeks or so to go away... but after that..I was never hungry ever again.. EVER.. its the oddest thing ever.. and my taste buds have changed... but thats ok.. Im happy the way things are.. Ive lost 86lbs in 4 months.. and its so great to shop at stores ive never gone to before.. I actually bought clothes at old Navy.. I fit in those clothes now its fabulous.. I find myself buying brighter colors..not the dark and black ones.. so best of luck on your journey.. the more dense and solid foods will fill you up.. just remember to listen to your stomach.. it will tell you weather you are full or too full.. have a great journey..
  20. My doc has stressed NO soda ever again.. says the carbonation bubbles will expand and stretch the sleeve and hurt my stomach.. Im gonna stick to what he says.. I dont want my stomach to hurt and he says I will get sick too.. I wont risk it.. Im down 86lbs.. and im not going to ruin that. but everyone seems to have different opinions of what the doctor said.. just like all surgerys are not alike at all.. so I guess just follow what the doc says.. thats what ive done and things have been great.

    Fears

your fears are not unfounded.. they are real fears for which we have all had at one time or another.. I think that after surgery you will change.. I didnt think I could do it either.. but your tummy wont let you..and will tell you enough is enough.. my taste buds changed.. I was too tired to worry about eating anything.. I just wanted to drink drink drink.. your stomach wont let you gulp.. you will get sick..and throwing up is no fun.. Ive not ever done it but from what ive read.. its painful very painful.. so dont doooooooooo it.. lol.. but anyways.. you will be fine.. I was ok after surgery..and when the pounds started melting away.. it was more motivation for me.. and Im like ok this wt is not going to come back..and ive been on a steady loss since surgery dec 20th.. more incentive for you.. ive lost 85lbs in 4 short months.. by following just what the dr said..and my nurse..and I have a great supporter in my husband.. he is wonderful.. he too had the surgery and he is like a stick now.. and has lost 87lbs..and looks fabulous.. I cant wait to be there too.. he is 15lbs from his goal wt.. now thats wonderful.. life is great after surgery..and I get to shop in a whole different department now.. im no longer a plus size anymore.. im like in reg clothes.. im like OMG OMG.. you can do this.. keep us posted and let us know how things are going.. great supporters here too.. we are here to help whenever we can.. best of luck to you )))

#160 lost 1 year post op (w/ pics)

You Look FABULOUS, I hope I do as well as you have.. and yes its been quite a journey.. im only 4mo out and have a ways to go.. I do go to the gym now and work out 3days a week.. thats all I have time for with 2 full time jobs.. my wt loss has slowed up some.. but thats ok.. I eat right and dont eat a lot of sweets.. I do every now and then cuz it is ok... im down 85lbs in 4 months so I must be doing something right.. my stomach wont let me eat the crazy fast food stuff.. ive tasted it..and my tummy is like yuck.. Im like YaY tummy... so my tastes have changed so very much.. nothing is really appealing to me at all.. so I like that.. and im not ever hungry..and I dont ever drink soda or carbonated anything.. I drink my water or crystal light lemonade.. I love that.. and I dont miss any of the foods I used to eat.. even at work they are all eating donuts and cinnamon rolls.. I pass them up.. and I think to myself.. you didnt need that anyways..and it doesnt really sound good cuz its bread and the tummy doesnt like bread.. lol but thank you for being an inspiration for those of us still in the newby catagory.. we have but only good things to look forward too.. thank you for that.. Bless you.

    Sleeved 4-23-13

welcome to your new journey.. a lot of the times the one incision that hurts the most is the one they pulled the stomach out of.. they have a tendency to stretch that one.. mine was sore too..but on the right side... plus I had a hiatal hernia repair too.. but all is well.. I was sleeved dec 20th and Im down 85lbs..and boy am I happy I did this... and the clothes I can fit into and can buy.. OMG I cant believe it.. I still cant.. buying clothes is a trip for me.. I still have some to go..but hey.. im getting close to onederland... so best of luck to you on your journey.. anything is possible. )))

    Hiatal hernia AFTER VSG?

I had a hiatal hernia but the doc found it during surgery. he fixed it then.. I did over do it and wound up with some pulled muscles in my side.. but other than that no problems with a knot of any kind.. but the best thing is to see the doc.. I had a cat scan done and thats how they knew I pulled some muscles.. so wasnt anything major.. I guess with our bodies changing so much and for a long time.. anything can be possible.. I used to not ever go to the dr.. but now I pay attention and since the surgery I do make regular visits now to make sure everything is ok especially if im having some pains in my stomach. I was sleeved dec 20th and im down 85lbs.. keep up the good work and good luck at the drs..
  25. glad you posted.. my hubby and I both have had the sleeve in dec a week apart.. we have both lost 82lbs..and I still have 60 to go to hit my goal wt.. and he has like 25. But we have wondered about long term success stories..so Im glad to see it works.. we work very hard at this and we know its going to be life long..and we are ready for that.. following all the drs rules and regulations..and go to all our follow ups and labs.. its very nice to see someone who has succeeded long term.. ive heard so many storys of those who feel out and have gained the wt back.. we wont let that happen to us.. we traveled this road so far and are not going to turn back.. best of luck to you
